Having held my breath after a previous very poor experience, today it was unfortunately duplicated. Snail-tempo service to obtain a menu or be offered drinks, and even slower for them to be produced (with the beer a short measure!) and an order to be taken. It was finally almost an hour after arrival before seeing any food, which then was little better than tepid. Certainly didn't bother to stay and sample any desserts - now searching for a more acceptable alternative.

Currently closed for 'refurbishment' after the existing hubby/wife landlords gave up, blaming the PubCo landlords. With the previous demise of The Horns, that just leaves The Bull and The Woodman Who's next?

And Lilyput's comments - whether illiterate or not - are yet another example of someone registering to post just one 'out-of-step' glowing review, which is why I treat it with suspicion.

Now re-emerged in its previous incarnation as The Iron Horse. No idea what else has changed.

Interesting that it's so long since the last review. My most recent experience (five years ago) was a disastrous family outing because of unacceptable food in the downstairs carvery and long waits for even worse service. It resulted in massive discounts/free drinks on the night plus hefty free vouchers (unused!) for a further visit. Why don't I see any recent glowing endorsements?
