The Duke of York, Tunbridge Wells
Great pub to sit outside on a warm evening. Real ale is hit-and-miss.

Best pub in Tunbridge Wells by a mile. Fantastic choice of bitters from across Kent, Sussex, Surrey. Good food, good staff. Only problem is it can get too busy. Brilliant pub.

Dreadful service. Dreadful staff. Dreadful beer, prices and food - avoid.

Have frequented this a few times. Used to be The Gloucester nightclub. Brews it own selection of good real ale, though Laines Best is produced en mass for sale across Brighton in Horsham.
Far too big to be a pub. Nice enough staff. Food okay but a tad pricey.
Was struck on my first visit on a Saturday afternoon how many kids/prams/pushchairs were in there and an abundance of 30/40 something Guardian readers drinking fair trade wine talking about buy-to-let mortgages etc.
Worth a visit though.

Best pub on London Road. Pricey though. Nice staff good mix of customers.

Fantastic little pub. Great choice of regularly changing real ales. Large selection of American whisky too if that's your thing. Good staff, nice clientèle. I think one of the best pubs in Brighton.

Good pub. Great choice of ales, food looked good, nice staff. Always worth a visit.

Okay for a pint of bitter on the way to station. Too dark inside.

Stank of paint when I visited a month ago. Good bitter. Full of Brighton & Hove Albion memorabilia, so aiming for the pre-match crowd.

Small pub, always worth a pint of Harveys on a crawl though. Nice staff.

Good pub right by the station. Avoid on match days if you're not going to The Albion game. Normally a couple of bitters on. Right by the station so a revolving clientèle.

Really good pub actually. Decent bitter and lager. Nice staff and great position on Queens Road.

Sadly this used to be one of the best pubs in Brighton. Avoid now though. Pre-club crowd pub.

Very quiet during the day. Good bitter and good food though. Decent enough staff. Would recommend.

Excellent pub a pint or two. Have never tried food here though. Interior is fantastic and hasn't changed much in a 100 years. Always worth a visit.

Used to be such a top pub but gone Shepherd Neame. Laines Best is available though so okay for a pint.

Exceptional food and service. Council house clientèle mentioned in previous posts have been driven out but The Queens Head is now basically a restaurant, albeit a very good one. All tables are laid out for food and are generally booked.
Great for a good meal not so for a couple of pints in a pub atmosphere.

Good little pub with decent bitters and well run. Does have a very strong and loyal regular contingent.

Fantastic food and service. Good couple of bitters on at all times. Best pub in Bexhill by a yard.

Generally a good pub with good food, decent bitter and nice staff. Bit of a locals/regulars contingent but always worth visit.

Great selection of ales. Good food and well run. Very civilised. Terrace outside is fantastic and will be even better once the pier is finished. Always worth a visit.

The Horse and Groom, St Leonards on Sea
Very good pub. Very civilised. Great bitter. The clientèle is a bit of a clique with a frighteningly high average age. Landlord is eccentric to put it nicely.

The Gecko Bar and Bistro, St Leonards on Sea
A very strange place. Run by a Russian and Canadian couple. Good choice of Czech lagers, but the place to me doesn't seem to quite work. Odd opening hours and if food is ordered the one person behind the bar has to go off and cook it.

The John Logie Baird, Hastings
Avoid. Dreadful service, dreadful alcoholic clientèle.
17 Mar 2014 13:17
Always worth a visit, but is not quite to the standard of it's high water mark years of 10 years ago. Shepherd Neame sadly.

The Filo (First In Last Out), Hastings
Best pub in Hastings by a distance. Brilliant bitter, brewed at their brewery just up the road. Good food also.
A couple of the regulars are painful, particularly a guy who insists on loudly doing the Daily Star crossword at the bar all day, but that is the only downside.
Great pub.

Exceptional pub in the heart of Hastings Old Town. Great bitter, good food, friendly staff, well run. Always worth a visit.

The Opera House, Tunbridge Wells
The most amazing interior of any Wetherspoons pub I've been in, with it being a working Opera venue. Centre of Tunbridge Wells, a town lacking volume of pubs, coupled with the fact its a 2 minute walk from Job Centre Plus = Avoid.
The worst Wetherspoons clientèle I've encountered.
