Oast House, Spinningfields

Nice building, huge part covered outside area. Expensive. Beer poor

5 Jul 2016 09:29

The Queen Victoria, Llandudno

Ok looking menu. Prices somewhat expensive for drinks. Nice enough but a bit of tlc needed here and there.

22 Jun 2016 13:26

The Cottage Loaf, Llandudno

Very busy for food but nice for a drink outside.

22 Jun 2016 13:24

The Albert, Llandudno

Almost all tables reserved for food on late Saturday afternoon. Good outside area and beer. Food looked and smelt good.

22 Jun 2016 13:23

The Old Hall Inn, Threshfield

Improvement since my previous visit. Food was excellent and beer was very good.

2 Mar 2015 13:16

Grassington House Hotel, Grassington

Nice beer. 3 handpumps and excellent looking food.

2 Mar 2015 13:12

The Black Horse, Grassington

New layout seems to work, no longer the poor relation pub in Grassington. Food looked and listening to other customers, is good.

2 Mar 2015 13:10

The Foresters Arms, Grassington

Still as good as ever. Great beer and real fire.

2 Mar 2015 13:08

The Green Room, Redruth

Nice staff. Big pub on a number of floors. Real ales surprising good as no one but me seemed to be drinking them.

10 May 2014 22:24

Rose Cottage Tavern, Redruth

Closed and boarded up. Again

10 May 2014 22:22

The Lad In The Lane, Erdington

Great building. Good atmosphere on a sat afternoon.

9 Apr 2013 14:06

Charlie Hall, Erdington

Typical Spoons, food reasonable. Very busy on a Saturday afternoon.

9 Apr 2013 14:03

The White Swan, Wythall

Typical crown carvery food, but all current deals were blacked out by pen on adverts and menus. Good beer. Had a policy of kids off premises by 9, fine with that but when ordering deserts at 8 with a view to eating them then me enjoying a extra drink afterwards was a little upset that it took 45 mins for puddings to arrive, then under pressure to eat quickly and leave. So didn't. Not bad prices for the wifes soft drinks or my ales.

20 Jun 2012 21:48

The Packhorse, Wythall

Ok pub, went contemplating food but food wait was 'well over an hour' Glad they told us so could decide according beer ok and good prices on soft drinks, something unusual these days.

20 Jun 2012 21:42

The Crescent, Salford

Looks pretty uninviting from the outside, a good beer choice and welcoming atmosphere awaits inside. 8? I think beers on offer. Handy for Salford Crescent station. Good mix of students and locals.

6 Jan 2012 16:53

Howard Arms, Glossop

Reasonable pool table and outdoor seats. Thats about all its got going for it though. No real ale although a lonely unused handpump on the bar.

20 Sep 2011 12:46

Flanagan's, Glossop

Now closed.

20 Sep 2011 12:45

The Lamplighter, St Helier

Best ale pub i tried on the island. 200 + malt whiskeys. Gas lamps still lit when discussed. 8 real ales and ciders.

31 Aug 2011 22:38

The Peirson, St Helier

Good pub next to the cock and bottle (same pub company??). good ales and staff.

31 Aug 2011 22:34

The S Bar, St Helier

Fine pub. Take your own lunch before 4pm.

31 Aug 2011 22:33

The Dog and Sausage, St Helier

Not a bad pub, just a locals pub that look at you like you shouldn't be there.

31 Aug 2011 22:32

The Cock and Bottle, St Helier

Decent pub, 1 ale - Liberation. Great outdoor seating area.

31 Aug 2011 22:29

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

Plenty of ale choice both from the kelham island brewery and guests. Wasnt totally sure myself - ales were good just didnt settle with the place.

26 Aug 2011 21:08

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

Another good pub in the area. Good lunchtime food. Simple to the point excellent no nonsense ale house.

26 Aug 2011 21:05

Harlequin, Sheffield

Good pub as part of my sheffield ale crawl. Bit dissappointed with a customer yelling at the barman calling him an arsehole. To me an excellent ale pub but you cant choose ya customers.

26 Aug 2011 21:01

The Slaters Arms, Kempston

New landlord recently according to the banners. Food and beer was excellent quality at reasonable prices. Quick service and attentive staff.

14 Aug 2011 10:07

King William IV, Kempston

Very expensive pub, not just a "bit more". 5.95 for a pint of normal bitter and half a orange cordial and soda is not a "bit more". NIce surroundings and garden but just doesn't justify its prices.

14 Aug 2011 10:05

The Robert Peel, Bury

Typical large, cheap spoons pub. Neither a particularly good one nor is it a particularly bad one.

14 Aug 2011 10:02

Yates's, Bury

Has got very shabby - in need of a refurb / decoration particularly in the toilets and the carpeted areas.

14 Aug 2011 09:58

The Knowsley, Bury

Much cleaner since the refurb and has cheap beer. Pity the idiots are still there in large numbers.

14 Aug 2011 09:57

The Waggon and Horses, Matley

Good robbies ales and food good. BUT over the top prices. It is an expensive place to both eat and drink.

12 Jul 2011 15:41

Roe Cross Inn, Mottram in Longdendale

Friendly pub, real ales on good form. Food looks and smells good and is cheap.

12 Jul 2011 15:39

Royal George Hotel, Greenfield

Three Lees beers including the 7% Moonraker. Food was obviously the main focus and was reasonable. Entertainment on weekends.

11 May 2011 13:53

The Old Hall Inn, Threshfield

Nice pub and garden with good beer and attentive staff. Very overpriced for soft drinks like cordial and water. It claims to serve the best food in the dale. That is utter rubbish unless your idea of a good gammon steak is swimming, well drowning, in grease, had to mop the fat up with tissue before i could eat. The wife's sandwich was very good though.

26 Apr 2011 11:31

The Devonshire Hotel, Grassington

Nice enough pub, main problem is the inability to get to the bar due to the number of people sitting or standing at it who don't have any regard for other customers.

26 Apr 2011 11:26

The Black Horse, Grassington

Nice enough pub, seems to lack something that the other pubs in this village have and like the previous poster says makes it seem the poor relation.

26 Apr 2011 11:24

The Foresters Arms, Grassington

Fantastic food and beer. Great staff, dog friendly - even came over with a dog chew for my dog. Been many times over the last few years and will continue to do so.

26 Apr 2011 11:21

Bell Inn, Moreton in Marsh

Its been 3 years since my last visit and things have improved in some ways. Decoration has been done and beer is still good. Food on the other hand is crap. I had steak and ale pie with chips that came as very very salty french fries and my wife had sausage and mash with *very* watery gravy. On the whole go for a beer but avoid the food.

26 Feb 2011 15:42

The Nottingham Arms, Tewkesbury

Good beer and good looking food, Sunday lunches and Thai specials on Monday nights. Much better.

27 Oct 2010 11:16

Berkeley Arms, Tewkesbury

How things have changed in the couple of years since my last visit. Not as many ales, nowhere near as friendly. Went in twice for the benefit of the doubt. Wont bother again.

27 Oct 2010 11:15

The Wig and Pen, Truro

Outside sitting area by the road but seperated by some railings. Beer ok. Food looks ok but seems a bit expensive.

4 Jun 2010 09:51

The Market Inn, Truro

Looks good from outside, quite new and modern on the inside. Outside area but staff have to bring drinks to you. This seems to take a while.

4 Jun 2010 09:48

The Old Ale House, Truro

Good beer, good food and good size inside. When the menu says half a loaf thats exactly what it means.

4 Jun 2010 09:47

Britannia Inn, Truro

Got a beer yard and handy for the bus station but uninspiring.

4 Jun 2010 09:46

The Swan, York

Great pub, friendly welcome from both locals and staff with good ales to boot, dogs allowed too, What else can i say? Great.

3 Apr 2010 22:24

The Slip Inn, York

Now owned and run by the team from the Swan, excellent real ales but currently under refurb. If like me you have a wife / partner who drinks spirts and mixer be aware that they have no draught coke / lemonade etc so its bottles and as such puts 1.50ish onto a round price. Still recommended. Can only get better.

3 Apr 2010 22:22

Pivo Cafe Bar, York

About to close for refurb when i called in last week so no real ales so had to "make do" with a continental brew. Will re-open with a differnent name in a week or so. Good place doing good things.

3 Apr 2010 22:18

The Art Picture House, Bury

Central bar so more pumps round the back than first appears. Typical Wetherspoons - large room with the toilets upstairs.

18 Mar 2010 11:36

The West Riding Refreshment Rooms, Dewsbury

Called in again on way home. The Black Sheep was excellent. Staff very good as the beer didnt "look" right so she went off to the celler to find out why without even being asked. Very good.

18 Feb 2010 17:31

Cherry Tree, Huddersfield

Quite good for a wetherspoons. Excellent selection of ales and ones i tried were in good form. Looks busy for lunchtime food.

18 Feb 2010 17:29

The Artful Dodger, York

Used to go in here a lot 10 years ago when it was Walkers Bar. Ale is ok, decor a bit weird, like a lot of Micklegate pubs there are better options for a quieter pint but seemed ok for the football crowd.

18 Feb 2010 17:22

The Yorkshire Hussar, York

Good beer but the overall atmosphere is somewhat lacking. Nothing to entice me back in given the other options within a 2 mins walk.

18 Feb 2010 17:16

Brigantes Bar and Brasserie, York

Good food reasonable prices. Good ales again at reasonable prices. Real good attempt at creating a old feel in a new place.

18 Feb 2010 17:13

Junction Inn, Glossop

Seems closed now. Stickers of security company emergency phone numbers on all windows / signs. Not boarded up so maybe looking to re-open? Not unexpected though.

14 Feb 2010 10:22

The Railway Hotel, Marsden

Seems to be part of the Marstons chain now complete with the typical Marstons Ales like Pedigree on good form. Very cheap looking food menu eg Gammon, Egg and Chips for 3.50.

21 Jan 2010 10:11

The Riverhead Brewery Tap, Marsden

The are an outlet for their own excellent Riverhead Brewery ales and also for Ossett Brewery. 5+ handpumps. Very popular with locals and train users alike. Upstairs restaurant looks good.

21 Jan 2010 10:10

Swan, Slaithwaite

All good, friendly staff with plenty of nice ales. One of 2 decent ale pubs near the station, unfortunately these are in opposite directions.

21 Jan 2010 10:08

The Railway Hotel, Greenfield

Proper 3 - roomed pub opposite the Train Station. 6 Hand Pumps all delivering well kept beer. No food menu as such but pork pies are for sale from the bar.

17 Jan 2010 11:52

The Commercial, Mossley

Bloody terrible compared to the Britannia. No ale, smelly toilets, bad atmosphere.

16 Jan 2010 23:27

The Britannia Inn, Mossley

Multi-roomed pub. Good selection of real ales including the nearby "greenfield real ale brewing co" beers. Food looked ok. Opposite the station.

16 Jan 2010 23:26

The King's Head, Huddersfield

On Platform 1 like the Head of Steam, plenty of good real ales. Bit School Hall like but worth a visit.

2 Jan 2010 22:50

The Otter, Derby

Nice looking location near river, prob great in summer on the deck, but the attention to detail needs adressing - the male toilets need a serious clean not a once over; the food is ok but the prices would imply it is excellent. I had a mixed grill with the steak ordered well done. The blood from my "well done" steak ruined the chips; the black pudding was dry; the bacon and the white pudding was good but the whole thing was not great. 3 real ales on in good form was a big positive though. On the whole i will not be sampling the food again; trying to avoid the toilets; but reckon the beer in the summer while sat outside would be good..

27 Dec 2009 21:33

Ye Olde Flying Horse, Kegworth

Like the previous post, this pub is somewhat run down and could do with a tidy up. Unlike the previous post there appeared to be no real ales on although the empty hand pumps are still in existence. So poss have them at busier time or sold out over xmas as I did visit on Boxing Day.

27 Dec 2009 17:32

The Red Lion, Kegworth

Proper Friendly local. 3 seperate rooms. 8 Real Ales on top form including 1 mild. Traditional Food menu looks good although was not being served due to weekly Sunday Carvery. Real fire added to homely feel.

27 Dec 2009 17:29

The Buffet Bar, Stalybridge

A real traditional place. Can get a bit annoying when the cliquey locals seem to block your view to the 6 so real ales on offer. Worth a visit and well worth staying for another couple of pints.

25 Aug 2009 21:57

The Q Bar, Stalybridge

Traditional pub with 2 Hydes ales. Near the Station so worth a visit after the Buffet Bar.

25 Aug 2009 21:55

Society Rooms, Stalybridge

Reasonable Wetherspoons. Ales quite good. Food good for a Wetherspoons.

25 Aug 2009 21:53

The Head of Steam, Huddersfield

Plenty of real ales on offer - tried 2. Food looks ok. On the station so no transport problems.

25 Aug 2009 21:50

The West Riding Refreshment Rooms, Dewsbury

On Dewsbury Station. Great beers at good prices. Seems to be about 4 guests and food avaliable.

25 Aug 2009 21:48

The Kings Arms, York

Great outside drinking area by the river. Cheap Sam Smiths ales.

25 Aug 2009 21:46

The Ackhorne, York

The self declared "Oasis off Micklegate". Great ales. A true pub in the area. Good outside area. Food was good last time i ate here although that was a year ago.

25 Aug 2009 21:42

The Lendal Cellars, York

Reasonable ales on offer. Not really much else to say though. Standard greene king food stuff on offer.

25 Aug 2009 21:40

The Royal Oak, York

Good ales. Interesting atmosphere. Not as good as previous visits but still worth a look.

25 Aug 2009 21:39

The Gillygate, York

2 ales on - John Smiths and Wychwood Hobgoblin. Tried the smiths - in good form. Food ok - i had the jumbo haddock.

25 Aug 2009 21:37

Brigantes Bar and Brasserie, York

Great place. Wish i went in before. Good beer range, excellent menu but have not tried the food. Will be back.

25 Aug 2009 21:33

The Tap and Spile, York

Plenty of ales as you would expect. Large beer "yard". Great Roosters Yankee.

25 Aug 2009 21:31

The Blue Bell, York

2 bar areas but overall the place is tiny. Great range of ales and brilliant staff.

25 Aug 2009 21:28

Pivo Cafe Bar, York

Plenty of continental beers and a couple well kept real ales. Worth a visit but worth knowing that while the downstairs is tiny there is plenty of tables upstairs.

25 Aug 2009 21:24

The Three Legged Mare, York

Good York Brewery Pub. Nice feel as it is a "new" pub but does have a traditional feel to it.

25 Aug 2009 21:21

The Maltings, York

The best pub for lunch in York. Portion sizes are massive. Beer is excellent. To the people complaining about resevered signs - they are usually clear enough to see. If not then a quiet word with the staff will sort out any problems. There is not much better "all round" pubs in York.

25 Aug 2009 21:18

The Star Inn, St. Day

Stayed in the caravan park up the road for a week. Excellent food at fantastic value for money. Great welcome from all of the staff, landlord and locals. Went in every night for a week. Plenty ales and "weapons grade ginger beer" along with Cornish Pear and Apple Cyder from the local Cyder Farm.

2 Aug 2009 14:07

The White Lion Hotel, Castlefield

Good outside area. Beer not so great and not so great prices either but cheaper than the Ox down the rd.

8 Jun 2009 18:50

The Ox, Castlefield

OKish Pub, good beer on. Food looked good but a bit pricey. Drinks pricey too.

8 Jun 2009 18:48

The Bulls Head, Tintwistle

UPDATE - Now 4 real ales on; currently Taylors Landlord, Bombardier, Jennings Cocker Hoop and 1 other. Food excellent at reasonable prices but only avaliable Thurs/Fri eve; Sat lunch and eve and Sunday till early eve. Couple open fires for the cold winters days. All seems to be doing well.

4 Mar 2009 12:53

The Globe Hotel, Glossop

Excellent brewed on site ales, along with regular guests. Good spicy veggie food at very good prices.

9 Nov 2008 10:32

Ye Olde Black Bear, Tewkesbury

Quite a few real ales on tap. Serves food all day until 9pm but didnt try it. A few rooms from quiet to noisy. Timber beemed structure and has a lot of info blackboards detailing possible history of the building.

3 Nov 2008 10:56

The Royal Hop Pole, Tewkesbury

Massive Wetherspoons pub attracting the typical mix of Wetherspoons customers. The beer i tried was good (Wetherspoons can be so hit and miss) and the food was good, hot and served quickly. Very busy on friday eve and the local branch of the Leeds United supporters club were meeting here before getting their coach to the game on the sat morning as such was very busy then as well.

3 Nov 2008 10:54

The Nottingham Arms, Tewkesbury

Good beer and a pretty good atmosphere. Good mix of locals and tourists, I was not made to feel particulary welcome but wasn't glared at either. Went in a couple of times during my time here.

3 Nov 2008 10:52

Berkeley Arms, Tewkesbury

Very friendly local. 3 Wadsworths beers on and also a guest, currently the excellent Hobgoblin. Lunchtime food looked good on the menu but didnt try it.

3 Nov 2008 10:50

The Bell Hotel, Tewkesbury

3 good beers on hand pull. Other peoples food looked ok but the gammon I had was awash with grease.

3 Nov 2008 10:49

The Bulls Head, Tintwistle

Just re-opened after a 3 month closure. Great new owners, really trying hard to re-instate this pub's place on the map. Food in a couple months (from aug 08). Looking good so far.

31 Aug 2008 09:56

The Grey Horse Inn, Manchester

Another small pub. Top quality Hydes bitter and usually the Hydes seasonal ale as well. Great "living room" feel to the place and the gents toilets are outside.

27 Jun 2008 10:12

The Circus Tavern, Manchester

Tiny pub with limited beer choice. Greeted and told to sit down and your beer is brought to you because of the size of the place.

27 Jun 2008 10:11

The Old Monkey, Manchester

Typical Holt's local in the City Centre. Good priced Holt's beer. Seats and benches could do with re-filling and re-covering though.

27 Jun 2008 10:08

The Paramount, Manchester

Quite good for a wetherspoons, ale was of good quality and reasonable food served promptly.

27 Jun 2008 10:06

The Gun Inn, Hollingworth

Went in this evening for a usual couple pints, tried to order my normal pint and drink for the wife. The (very friendly) thai / chinese / japanese heritage bar staff didnt understand any english at all. The landlord took over but when i complained, he just threw me out. Particularly now this is a customer focused environment. Avoid like the plague.

2 Apr 2008 22:13

The Hamers arms, Ramsbottom

Good pub, with a couple beers on offer. Was very busy on a monday night, no obvious reasons why. Good atmosphere, good beer.

1 Apr 2008 12:24

Footballers Inn, Ramsbottom

Quite a small pub with quite a few ales on offer. Very reasonable prices. Bit out of it but worth the trek.

1 Apr 2008 12:22

Hare & Hounds, Ramsbottom

Large (9 on yesterday, 10 hand pumps avaliable) selection of good real ales. Very reasonable food. Worth a visit.

1 Apr 2008 12:20

The Last Orders (The Trap), Glossop

This is now a Cains tied house re-branded as the Market Tavern. Good beers and very reasonable prices. Food menu looks good but I haven't had any.

7 Mar 2008 19:27

Norfolk Arms, Glossop

Nice refurb. Good Holts' beers served at good value. Nice food although it is the "standard" Holts menu.

7 Mar 2008 19:26

King William IV, Kempston

Not a bad pub. More of a restaurant in some ways but there is the bar area and a little room to the right. OK beer but very pricey for both food and beer (pub down road was 1.25 cheaper for exactly the same 2 drinks)

19 Feb 2008 14:39

Half Moon, Kempston

Good locals pub that made us feel very welcome on a number of visits while staying nearby. Good beer and also does lunchtime food. Only open for a few hours at lunchtime and closes for the afternoon even on busy sunny weekend days

19 Feb 2008 14:37

The Inn on the Marsh, Moreton in Marsh

Great pub for lunchtime food. Simple stuff like gammon, egg and chips, egg and chips etc as well as pies / salads and Dutch Specials. Think that it has different evening menu.

Excellent range of well kept real ales including guests and Marstons Pedigree.

Would definately return when next in area

19 Feb 2008 14:34

The Black Bear, Moreton in Marsh

Nice pub split into 2 halves. Friendly bar staff but i couldn't really rate the Donnington Ales. Nothing wrong with the way they were kept, just not to my taste. Good value for money compared to some of the other pubs in the village though.

19 Feb 2008 14:30

Bell Inn, Moreton in Marsh

An OK pub, could do with a little decorating, Beer was good. Went in on Tuesday market day though when "all tables are for diners only" according to the menu. I didn't eat and sat down on principle as there was plenty of tables free. The outside area was in need of cleaning however.

19 Feb 2008 14:28

The Star Inn, Glossop

Very handy for the train station. It is a very locally pub but with excellent real ales on offer.

23 Nov 2007 13:21

The George Hotel, Glossop

Large pub, near railway station, food served, a couple of OK - kept real ales

23 Nov 2007 13:20

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Great selection of well kept real ales, when demand is there. During less busy times only a couple are avaliable but what is there is excellent. Quality over quantity is always a better option. No food other than wednesday curry night.

20 Aug 2007 17:38

The Strawbury Duck, Entwistle

A once great pub. Recently going downhill, food obviously kept warm for too long and the bitter range varies in quality and quantity. I really want this pub to be good, but I keep going and saying "never again", only to visit again after a couple weeks to improve. The recent poor quality is now just once too often.
