The Royal Oak, Bethnal Green

Famous as the pub in BBC TV's "Goodnight Sweetheart"

The Warrington Hotel, Maida Vale

Very ornate pub - go for the architecture alone. Service could be better, but who cares!

Truscott Arms, Maida Vale

Used to be the best, if not the grandest, pint in Maida Vale. Not sure how it squares now (I moved away), but the plasma tellies were distracting.

The George, Wanstead

Good pub, although the food and service can be variable. Nice, spacious venue - a good meeting place. Wish they'd throw the kids out, though.

The Goose on the Broadway, Stratford

Lousy beer and the bar staff were slow and unhelpful. Apart from that, the place looks good.

The Coronet, Holloway

Vast former cinema not far from where Mad Joe Meek murdered his landlady before topping himself. Oh, and making bad records on his stairs.

A good pub!

The Shakespeare's Head, Holborn

Good pub, for a Wetherspoons! Spacious, airy - ideal meeting place. Service sometimes difficult, but ultimately worthwhile. One of the best within Central London.

The Townhouse, Ealing

This is famously the pub that was blown up by the car bomb on Ealing Broadway in August 2001. Even that didn't improve it!

The Globe, Brentford

Popular pub - gets very busy and can sometimes be noisy, so if you're after a quiet pint you might find the Lord Nelson better suited. If you want a pint, a meal, a game of pool and a live band, however, The Globe is hard to beat on this side of Central London.

The Lord Nelson, Brentford

Fantastic pub - the best in Brentford. The burgers are home-made (literally - arrive early enough and watch them make it for you), the beer is good (a good range of Fullers ales including the seasonal varieties) and friendly service. Can get busy at lunchtimes with a crowd from the BBC just over the road.
