The Crown Inn, Burchetts Green

Recently tried the Crown - the bar is small and welcoming but that is all that is needed.

In the restaurant side the food is excellent and changes daily - some very interesting dishes on the menu using cuts of meat that have been long forgotten.

The new owners have started off on the right foot and I hope they do make a success of it.

The Red Lion Hotel, Hillingdon

I have recently been back.

A large group of us met there for a few drinks - started at 18:30 PM and the last of us left at 02:00 the following morning.

It was not crowded - obviously the "reputation" has reduced the number of customers. Service was quick, beer (London Pride) good, but clearing glasses was slow and the staff not the best I have come across.

It is slowly improving.

Will I return? Maybe - if I want a quiet drink.

I use this place occasionally - only when the other bar at Stockley Park is closed.

One evening after waiting 15 minutes to be served I asked for a pint of one of the beers they had available. "Sorry, but we cannot serve that in pints - it is illegal"

What a load of rubbish - I have never heard of a law which prohibits selling beer by the pint. After a protracted argument they finally agreed to serve me two half pints and give me a pint glass.

Nothing special. The beer might be cheap but is never that good.

Service is SLOW.

Avoid it and use the wine bar opposite where te beer is better.

The Dew Drop Inn, Hurley

Have recently been introduced to this pub. Opinion so far ... good and worth returning to.

The minibus is a great idea and it means I can get to a friends house easily.

The Militia Canteen, Uxbridge

I lived within yards of one of the most unwelcoming pubs ever.

Every few years I try it again and find NO CHANGE! Service abysmal. It is better to go to the Load of Hay 50m away

Where is Ken?

He suddenly disappeared - does anyone know why? Te beer is not quite as good recently.

Awful - having been a long term user, on and off, it has gone down hill, or perhaps off a cliff!

As a significant shareholders in Fullers I will be raising this "downmarket" establishment with their directors and at the next AGM.

The Load Of Hay, Uxbridge

Always been an excellent pub - I've used it for 30 years.

Beer range is excellent and even when the place was becoming run down, Ken kept the beer in excellent condition. It has recently received a 10 years in the Good Beer Guide award.

The new owners have cleaned it up but not spolit the atmosphere although it does get a little crowded.
