The Greyhound, Kew Green

Had supper and several pints here a week or so back. It is fun, it is simple, it is light and airy. The garden at the back is a haven. Loved it. Will return to enjoy more friendly faces are around.

Sam's, Chiswick

I like it!

9 Sep 2012 16:28

The Coach and Horses, Isleworth

One word "superb"

16 Aug 2012 01:05

The Fisherman's Rest, Lymington

Lunch for 4. Beer was excellent, well stored and good pipes. Food was very good.....as usual. The Sunday "roast" menu was pretty huge on the plate and just because it is not listed does not mean the chef cannot produce it! All in all a very good excursion out of a rainy day.

3 Oct 2010 18:23

The Mill at Gordleton, Sway

whores draws are up again.....excellent

8 Mar 2010 19:57

Bitterne Royal British Legion Club, Southampton

nice friendly, and more importantly, cheap drinking and social club in Bitterne

2 Mar 2010 12:58

The Plough Inn, Rottingdean

Popped in for a quick meal and a drink. Under NEW MANAGEMENT - some ginger Lion Man or something stupid.

New Menu, New Staff (lovely young woman looked after me perfectly) and the beer is better kept than before.

All in all, on the up!

Longs Wine Bar and Bistro / Jazz Cellar, Lymington

sticky carpets. Enough said.

11 Dec 2009 18:53

The Grapes, Southampton

all forgiven, all better, all working, all wonderful.

11 Dec 2009 18:34

The Crown, Everton

went there first in June 2009. Beer was boring, food was average, service was poor. Could have left without paying and nobody would have been the wiser. Went for another beer in November. No change, just a little ruder.

11 Dec 2009 18:33

The Saltdean Tavern, Saltdean

It's a cheap carvery and that's about it. Go there once every couple of months. Beer is dreadful so stick to house wine which is well priced and not bad. Local Chavs congregate there some evenings and their rug rats run around the place - that was until some old girl poured her hot gravy laden plate of turkey over one little runt. Did the parents moan, but whose fault was it ? Theirs. Not a place for drinkypoohs more of a place to shovel cheap carved animal flesh into the gob. Staff are few and far between so don't go there if you are in a rush.

21 Mar 2009 14:31

The Mill at Gordleton, Sway

this place goes up and down like a whores draws. Last few times poor, this time good! Keep on pumping.

21 Mar 2009 14:21

The Kings Head Inn, Lymington

As my posting is negative, maybe I should point out that I go in here at least once a week but have never posted on this boozer yet. Gutsy the landlord was in miserable mode and the place was full of 12 year olds out for a screw before going to Longs. Oh dear, what happened Paul. Chuck em out and start again for pitys sake, locals can always go somewhere else.

21 Mar 2009 14:16

The Black Rabbit, Offham

revisited on an early spring Saturday afternoon. Beer was better than last time and the food has improved. The impersonal gastro paint remains - pity - but the staff are far better than before. It's getting better.

21 Mar 2009 13:58

The Half Moon Inn, Plumpton

well a jolly fine pub with the beer well presented and kept and the menu not bad by half. The only negative comment was the muzak in the eatery. The musicians and circulating totty made for a good evening. like this one, will go back.

21 Mar 2009 13:53

The Mill at Gordleton, Sway

very true mozzzzzzzzzz, but one of those rare attached bars which does have a life of its own. Really friendly people. Enjoyed a fine ale.

15 Sep 2008 23:48

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

total and complete cock - crap beer, crap food, bloody staff no speaky der engliks and the cost was outrageous.

15 Sep 2008 23:39

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

total and complete cock - crap beer, crap food, bloody staff no speaky der engliks and the cost was outrageous.

14 Sep 2008 23:55

The Haven Bar and Bistro, Lymington

oh Rob for goodness sake get a grip of your staff. Bunch of "nobody cares" were in charge the night I visited with yachtie tottie flashing tits and nickers - sadly not matching collars and Cuffs. Beers were awful, food was cold - and I don't mean the gespatchio - service was crap. Time tosack the dross,

14 Sep 2008 23:51

The Plough Inn, Rottingdean

Nipped in for an in promptu glass of ale and something off the clipboard. Yes,earlier contributors have hit bad days with the staff and today was my turn! Miserable Buggers at shift handover, I nearly appologised for bothering to come in. The food was OK, but only OK this time. I hope this down turn was an accidEnt or the result of a fullmoon. Igave it 8/10 last time, I am scoring 5/10 this time. Time to smile and remember the customers pay your bloody mortgage!

14 Sep 2008 23:22

The Black Rabbit, Offham

lunch on a warm september saturday was ok, the processed pie was ok, the student staff were attractive eye candy but the beer was clean, well kept and very good. pity about the general "bistro" feel an anonymous dcor.

14 Sep 2008 06:42

Badgers, Petworth

as I tap, I am coming to the end of a great couple of days b&b here at Badgers. The rooms are excellent, the food is exceptional, but the beer is well kept. Jules, the landlady is wonderful and the service is just right. This fussy bugger cannot find fault.

14 Sep 2008 06:34

The Plough Inn, Rottingdean

very fine ale, very fine food, bloody tourists are a pain though. Nice people, good locals, and the bar boss is a really good chap!

29 Jun 2008 20:38

The Downs Hotel, Woodingdean

the opportunity to have a condiserably brilliant, edge of the down, local eatery with fine ales has completely escaped this place. Such a pity.

29 Jun 2008 20:35

The Juggs Arms, Kingston

exceptional late lunch follwing a trot across the Downs. French Onion Soup, Stilton Ploughmans and a couple of pints of the bottom end best. Apart from good value, apart frrom a hot unny day, apart from excellent service, apart from bloody good food, apart from the beer being excellently kept. It was an average to brilliant first visit!

29 Jun 2008 20:34

The Black Lion Hotel, Little Walsingham

Not been here for years, glad to see the beer is still good

11 Aug 2007 22:47

The Fleur de Lys, Pilley

This is now a Gastro Pub - beer is excellent though

11 Aug 2007 22:33

The Borough Arms, Lymington

Still very normal boozer. Nothing too clever, sound aleage with decent prices attached. Normal people drinking normal beer in a normal pub - hey sounds about righ to me.

11 Aug 2007 22:28

The Musketeer, Pennington

Popped in this evening for a libation - superb beer, very friendly and a comforting end to a sunny saturday

11 Aug 2007 21:31

The Gun, Keyhaven

No one can accuse me of giving up on a place. I fell upon the Gun last week when I arrived too early for a party in Keyhaven. Faced with the depressing thought of sitting in the car park or running the gauntlet at the bar, thirst overcame. What a change! Fellow drinkers, all is not lost, smiles, happiness and good beer; had two excellent pints of excellent Flowers. Everyone was happy, it was sublime.

11 Aug 2007 21:05

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

Oh Dear, Oh Dear, Oh Dear; Its all gone to cock. Bar moved into a cupboard, poor selection, OK for eatery but not as a bar; sorry - whats worse is that it has been sold to a chain

13 Jul 2007 19:08

The Mill at Gordleton, Sway

popped in for beerwhile my car got fixed. What a nice friendly change. Lovely bar staff, good beer.

18 Feb 2007 23:19

The Ship Inn, Lymington

Pooped in - in need of refreshment - popped out couldn't get served full of bloody tourists and glasses of coke. - BAH

19 Sep 2006 17:36

The White Hart, Lymington

Wel I never! Went in for the first time in ages - nice people, good beer and loads of eye candy. Gone are the villains from Saf Lunden and that stupid old bloke with the leather. Good local pub - I shall frequent even more now.

19 Sep 2006 17:35

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

fell in the other lunch time in need of a drink - satisfied. What a freindly bunch now inhabit the bar. Lots of nice things to look at as well - if you see what I mean..........

19 Sep 2006 17:31

The Wheel Inn, Pennington

Glory be - it has changed hands again - the Hobler man has it. Exceptional place now - real zingy feeling. It's a wheel pub, with a wheel landlord, serving wheel beer.

19 Sep 2006 17:23

The Grapes, Southampton

went back for a summer (end of) slug. I am sorry to say it, but anonymous is correct. What happened to this place? It is truly awful.

19 Sep 2006 17:19

The Wheel Inn, Pennington

Wheel Inn has been one of those pubs that has never quite done it. Used it when I first hit Lymington and it has changed hands regulalrly since then. Currently not a bad offer. Food in restaurant is good, beer is great and atmosphere is growing on me.

13 May 2006 09:00

The Musketeer, Pennington

went in for a Sunday lunch drink on the way back from walking the dog. Freindly bar staff and other customers - it was full. Sat outside with a selection of beers. You cannot fault the range of beers.

13 May 2006 08:44

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

Is it really a year since I went into Stanwells - sorry Mark - interior improved, staff very helpful, booze OK and food excellent. Had a very confusing conversation with a (tired and emotional) young lady who insisted she knew me from my time living in Cheltenham - never been there sweety.

13 May 2006 08:40

The Ship Inn, Lymington

OK tried again - It's almost summer. Full of bloody tourists sipping half pints of lager top with screaming brats spilling coke over everyone - Oh what a shame that such a location has to play host to such a boring boozer

13 May 2006 08:34

The White Star Tavern, Southampton

bar and eatery - got rave revues from press - including Les Routiers and The Which? Good Food Guide 2006
good place to drink, eat, socialise

4 May 2006 18:25

The Jolly Sailor, Burseldon

wow what a change in a pub - went back for a quickie. A complete dump, beer was awful and the food was plastic while service was non-existant - a totally different place from last summer - shame

3 Apr 2006 12:26

The Mayflower, Lymington

Parking? There is a whacking great car park behind the pub that the Council will charge you loads of cash for the priviledge of parking in.

3 Apr 2006 12:23

The Mayflower, Lymington

went in on Saturday for lunch - it was heaving. Food and beer good. Table staff, attratcive. "Oldlondonmerchant" is refering to the Yachtie Tottie that arrives with Musto's in March and leave with carpet burns in September.

14 Feb 2006 13:41

The Hole In The Wall, Waterloo

one of thos places that you will always find someone who knows it. Took my ex-wife there once thirty years ago - I liked it she did not - hence now ex......... Greta range of ale. Good place to meet before Southbank - or even good place todepart from waterloo from after southbank - cheaper than Southbank too

28 Jan 2006 17:13

The Ship Inn, Lymington

Never one to give up - I ventured in - then left. Might try again during the summer

28 Jan 2006 17:06

Limpets, Lymington

Limpets is now gone - soon to be repalced by ................well it was crap

28 Jan 2006 17:04

The Angel Inn, Lymington

Well John, I am not one to give up on a boozer without a fight, I tried again. Went there for lunch with me Ma. Coffee was OK. Cannot say more. At least I tried. If I can be lured out of the Haven I promise to try again

28 Jan 2006 17:02

The Kings Arms, Lymington

Pub has recently changed hands - I suggest a revisit for Rooster and John to reassess the place now - with or without Natasha, Ironing Board and Fancy dress Costume

28 Jan 2006 16:51

The Acorn, Hackney

Have not been in this pub for 20 years. That said, the beer was average then and it has not improved. Atmosphere was OK. Lot's of smiles at the bar though.

20 Jul 2005 20:56

The Haven Bar and Bistro, Lymington

Went there for lunch today, excellent.......... cannot say more, need not say more.

20 Jul 2005 20:54

The Grapes, Southampton

popped in for a packet of fags while eating at Oxfords. Superb boozer, really good place to have a drink. Been back regularly. Never eaten there but beer is ace.

20 Jul 2005 20:51

Duke of Wellington, Southampton

Old pub, miserble staff, beer OK, atmosphere good. Use it weekdays lunchtimes two or three times a month. Funny short blonde woman goes in regularly and puts me off me pint.

20 Jul 2005 20:49

The White Horse, Milford on Sea

I used to use this pub regulalrly, but got bored with the zimmer frames, coaches and day trips from Lancashire.

20 Jul 2005 20:37

The Jolly Sailor, Burseldon

went back in there on Sunday - 17th July - yes it's trtue the beer is good, conditioned and tasty. Food is high quality and the service is much improved - I have upped my rating. I still reckon the best way of getting to the pub is via the river! Moorings at swanwick marina and row over to the JS pontoon. Rowing back can be fun - depends on the volume consumed.........

18 Jul 2005 10:08

The Haven Bar and Bistro, Lymington

Started life as a Restaurant with a bar, now most certainly a Bar with a very good restaurant. Rob the owner is a well seasoned expert in the boozer business. Place is heaving from May through to September. Beer is good, atmosphere is brilliant

4 Jun 2005 16:09

Chequers Inn, Lymington

Yachties Pub and great for watching Rugby with a Creme de menthe. Great summer lunch boozer, loads of yachtie tottie about from May through to September looking for a weekend sail. Beers well kept and food is above average

4 Jun 2005 16:02

Stadsbrouwerij (Town Brewery) de Pelgrim (Pilgrim), Delfshaven

This place is very close to the ultimate dream for beer lovers. It is a brewery pub - oh joy!

The brewing room is on the right as you enter the 17th century building and the huge bar room is opposite on the left. They brew all types and flavours - chewy dark beer (like a good firm English beer but slightly chilled with a stoutish flavour), light (blonde) beers, Stoombier (Steam Beer), Witbier and Mayflower Tripel.

They also make their own bread (Pelgrim Bread) which wraps around all sorts of lovelies for lunch - which I enjoyed yesterday

11 May 2005 22:00

Bournemouth Airport Departure Bar (Destinations Bar), Bournemouth International Airport

Has the potential to be a really relaxing and friendly place as you count down the minutes of your delayed departure. Truth is the beer is awful, over priced and the service is surly. I give it a 1 out of 10 simply because it canbe a case of any port in a storm.

11 May 2005 21:00

The Ypres Castle Inn, Rye

Did lunch today - well worth the 3 hour drive from hampshire. Beer was very well kept - Harveys - used the bar menu instead of the restaurant menu. Very affordable, very pleasant and the welcome was warm and friendly - first ones in!

5 May 2005 19:38

The Bosuns Chair, Lymington

The only boozer in Lymington where you can sit down, have a decent pint and a afg and not get pestered. It is the pub to go to if you "want to be alone"

4 May 2005 19:54

The Stanwell House Hotel, Lymington

as no other bugger has written anything about Stanwells I will. Not a pub but a Bar. Beer is OK.....but it is a venue and not a boozer. Saturday evening yachtie "lookatme" girls fill the place en route for other less expensive bars. The Bistro is good and the quality of food never misses a step.

4 May 2005 19:52

The Jolly Sailor, Burseldon

spent some good evenings here before the refurb - arrive by boat and row over to the pontoon. It was great then. Went back by car - park at the station then climb the mountain - the refurb was good, the food was better but there was something not right about the beer. maybe this summer..............

4 May 2005 19:40

The Angel Inn, Lymington

They really are two different places - The pig is a local spit and sawdust hostelry. The Angel is a retail pub which sells cold golden fizzy water that passes as Larger and brown warm chewy stuff that is supposed to be beer - never again

4 May 2005 19:24

The Mayflower, Lymington

It's great in the summer in the garden with the Barbi going. Good family pub on the outside. However, try and take your kid in the restaurant for a meal and you will not get served. Kids are banned - which for some is a good idea.......but for others.......

4 May 2005 19:19

The Kings Arms, Lymington

Rooster is quite correct this is one of the weirdest pubs in the world - lunchtimes are best as people sit there motionless for hours with half a pint of something in front of them. They are still there the following day. The beer is great though, straight from the cask, no coolers, no pups, just a barrell and a tap.
