The Chapel Bar, Islington

Awful place.

Pretentious and very, very, very expensive. 5 for a bottle of Magners?

Crap and not worth going to.

The Colonnade, Letchworth

Letchworth is probably the worst town to go out in Britain as there are so few pubs.

This pub does nothing to enhance Letchworth but is handily near the train station so you can travel to a town with a decent choice of drinking holes.

Coopers Arms, Hitchin

Ok for a few beers and the football if you can bend your neck to see the tiny screens.

Average in every respect other than the lovely, old building.

Corn Exchange, Hitchin

Avoid.

Absolutely crap.

The food is like a bad wetherspoons and the beer badly kept. I had a pint of guinness that was like vinegar.

This place trades on its location and could be so much better.

The Fox Inn, Willian

Good for a meal, not for drinking.

Have your food then leave for a proper pub.

The Victoria, Hitchin

A great little pub. Probably the best in Hitchin that I have visited.

Very friendly staff and locals, a decent range of beer and the place is clean and very well kept.

The Angelic, Islington

Expensive and pretentious.

Pretty much in keeping with most pubs around there.

The Anchor Inn (Hungry Horse), Hitchin

Still full of yobs. Dirty and dingy.

The Sailor Boy, Hitchin

It's been done up and is now reasonable.

Full of white van men with limited vocabulary other than swear words, but they're friendly enough.

Usual beers, sky tv and pretty clean and tidy.

The Phoenix, Hitchin

A sruffy dump.

The loos are dripping in piss and carpets sticky.

It's got sky, which redeems it slightly.

A great pub to go to if you're 15, look 15 and want to get served though.

The Nightingale, Hitchin

In need of a reburb big time.

Frequented by down to earth locals.

Missing a trick big time as it's right next to the train station but usually pretty empty. It advertises sky outside, but when you go in there is none, which was annoying!

Some decent beers and pretty friendly.

Millstream, Hitchin

A really poor pub, both for drinking, service and terrible quality of the food.

As listed below the beer prices are 40p - 50p a pint more than anywhere else. I don't mind paying more if there's a reason for it - there isn't.

The food is atrocious. I was atrociuos before it cjanged management, and sadly it hasn't improved. I took some family members there recently and was embarassed when their food arrived - it was awful and had to be sent back as it was cold. My dish was inedible.

The place has no atmosphere and seems to be mostly avoided by locals. It could make a killing but is so badly run it won't.

Too expensive for the drivel they microwave, beer VERY expensive, no atmosphere, rubbish staff who seem to be children.

It says something when the (very rough and dirty) pub over the road from it always seems to be busy and this place is always empty.

Don't waste your time, andcertainly don't waste your cash on this place. You always leave disappointed.

Definitely the crappest pub in the area - and there are some bad ones for this to compete with, but it wins the award hands down.
