Ye Olde Windmill, Gentleshaw

What a cracking pub! Can't believe the comments on here slagging it off, they are complete tripe. Currently sat at the bar sipping Wye Valleys Butty Bach, also on tap is Stairway to Heaven and Pedigree. There's a range of ciders, bottled and draught and all the other usual stuff, also including Eliotts Winter Warmer (mulled wine). I've just had a meal (horseshoe of gammon) which was delicious and huge! More than value for money. The staff are all polite prompt and generally lovely. The head man is Dennis who is a mix of grumpy old man and stand up comedian. All together this is the nicest pub I've been in for a fair time. Better than the soulless dull commercial out fits that appear to spring up in town centres these days. Top marks to Ye Olde Windmill (without their free wifi I'd not be able to post this), a good pub, a great atmosphere and superb beer.

My recommendation - try it and I guarantee you will like it!

The Little Pack Horse, Bewdley

Wandered into this amazing venue on Saturday evening after spending some time in the Wyre Forest. Was suffering a headache so decided against beer, which was a shame as there was a good selection of pastuerised pints and REAL ALES! We asked about a table but told that it was always book in advance on Saturdays, however the Gods smiled on my date and I and there was a cancellation. What can I say? This small hard to find pub produced better quality more imaginative food than I've experienced anywhere for a long time. Beats all the restaurants in Birmingham hands down. If you want somewhere for amazing food and a quaint/cosy atmosphere, this is THE place to go. Will definately go back here and I've got to drive from the north side of Birmingham to get here, in my opinion, will be well worth the 50 mile round trip! Would have given it a possible 10/10 if i'd have been able to try the beers. AMAZING!

The Old Barn, New Milton

Visited this a few weeks back with my girlfriend, whilst it was very quiet they seemed very friendly inside - although did initially appear closed from outside. Once in, the beer was acceptable and the food! The food was amazing. My girlfriend made me sit and wait whilst she struggled to finish because she was enjoying such an exhilarating taste sensation! Taking my parents there for dinner this week. Great venue in my opinion. Don't be put off, give it a go!!

Bankes Arms Hotel and Country Inn, Studland

Having driven past a few times and read some excellent comments on this venue decided to pop in with my parents when they came to visit me last weekend. DOESN'T LIVE UP TO REPUTATION. I found the venue to be dirty, and dingy. Having spent about 20 minutes at the bar waiting without recognition I walked out and went into Poole where i ended up spending 130 somewhere else. We weren't the only ones to leave. Felt that my business wasn't wanted here and so in future will make sure i go where my custom is appreciated.

Wellingtons, New Milton

Visited this place last night as i was looking around the town having just bought a property in the area and looking for placces to go for when i move out of Bournemouth in a few weeks. Found the pub to be rather smokey which wasn't good as i'm asthmatic. Walking in through the front door and almost colliding with the person singing the karaoke wasn't so great either. Beer seemed ok, although not the best prices in the area.
Seemed a bit low class, lots of people with tattoos and gaudy jewellery. Everyone seemed friendly enough though, a few even spoke to me. Felt quite obvious that everyone in here knows each other, felt a bit out of place. Mixture of feelings about this place, will probably visit again when i've moved in to town.

The Rydal, New Milton

Visited this pub for the first time on Saturday 13th May as i've just bought a property in the area and i was looking for the places to go before i move in. WOW! Top pub, excellent service from all the staff, nice jovial atmosphere, beer seemed well looked after. To top it all, an enjoyable live band at a volume which was to be enjoyed not endured! Brilliant pub, this is most likely going to be my regular watering hole when i move in a few months time.
