The Hare and Hounds, Waytown

Excellent pub, just stayed in Waytown for the week. The Palmers Ales were in excellent condition but i prefered the Bridge Farm Cider, it was very tasty and a bargain at 2.30.
The home cooked food was great, i had the dorset ham egg and chips and also the liver, bacon and onion casserole. Great value at around 8.00.
The pub is very dog friendly and has a lovely garden.
Also the landlord and the locals would all talk to you. Top stuff.

The Queen Victoria Inn, Priddy

Went today, the day of the annual sheep fair. The pub was full as to be expected and they were only serving with plastic glasses (yuk)
Anyway as a cider head i saw my favorite Thatchers Cheddar Valley and asked for a pint (2.50) The cider from the barrel looked ok but was completely watery not like i get from Tuckers or the Fox and Badger. My mate hugh had one as well from a new!!! barrel and it was the same. I don't think Thatchers would water down their own cider and nor would Butcombe, so i suspect the Landlord after a quick buck from the unsuspecting visitors. Anyway we went straight off to the Hunters lodge for a fantastic pint of Wilkins cider.
Gave it 2 for location , but never go on the sheep fair, you have been warned.

The Fox and Badger, Wellow

Much better these days, The beer is good (Butcombe and London Pride) plus a Guest. Various Lagers and Ciders , including that Somerset favorite Cheddar Valley (Thatchers).
Very popular for food so can get very buzy. Ploughmans lunch's are a speciality of the house.
Outside seating at the front but no garden. Dogs ok inside.
Tuesday nights at 6.00 is a good time to go , full of nutters.

The Pigs Nose, East Prawle

Top pub, best in the South Hams but a real swine to get to. Top beers straight fom the barrel and ciders to die for. They also had one of the best Perrys i have had in a long while. Good food , super quirky decorations inside and loads of out door seating. Dogs welcome and a kids area , They even do free snuff on the bar. Shame its 140 miles from my home.

what on earth has the bell at standerwick comments got to do with tuckers grave? That final arbitor chap must be drinking too much, judging by his spelling etc.

The Tuckers Grave Inn, Faulkland

hey PUBTraveller, if you are such an expert on pubs - then why is tuckers grave your first post. i think you maybe a bit of a muppet with a grudge to bear!!
Anyway the pub is probably better off without your slimey custom. cheers from the locals

Bathampton Mill, Bathampton

I said it would flood, now shut for a few days to repair. i suggest an Atlantis theme for the decoration because more rain is forcast.

16 Jan 2008 10:37

Bathampton Mill, Bathampton

nicely refurbished until the next flood.Fantastic setting and views, very well done out and the food is good (italien theme)
one real ale - timothy taylors , very nice and a selection of top quality lagers -- Leffe being the best but at 3.60 a pint takes some swallowing.
If you are in the area it is well worth a visit.

The Packhorse Inn, Southstoke

lovely pub, good beers and decent draught ciders.
i have been coming here for years , the only prob is the latest landlord who sits and reads a newspaper whilst you stand and wait for a bar maid to come free.

The Tuckers Grave Inn, Faulkland

Top class village pub, caters for all and the beer/food are top quality. Why travel afar just stay in Timsbury for a good night out.

The Tuckers Grave Inn, Faulkland

The best pub in a 15 mile radius of Bath, I agree with all the comments apart from the last misguided person, a few crisp bags on the fire is no problem.
Just visit and enjoy the beer, cider, friendlyness and the FIRES. you will be back for more.
