The Man and Scythe Inn, Bolton

Only just started going in so I'm curious as to how it was modernised? Only concessions to the modern world I can see are doors and a flushing toilet! Great pub though, very friendly staff, good selection of drinks and by far the best selection of Cider in Bolton. If you drink Thatchers, keep to a strict 3 pint rule!

Hen and Chickens, Bolton

Beer in here is rediculously expensive. My grand parents used to love this place for codgers meals on a Friday dinner time, now I know where my inheritance went!

The Cheetham Arms, Bolton

Been done up and renamed "The Brewhouse" on account of them brewing their own beer onsite. Kind of aimed at a "wealthier" clientele and focused on food but still drags the trendy crowd in on weekend nights. Odd layout, tables very close to the bar so nowhere to stand which creates a very odd atmosphere, disjointed even. Their beer is not bad and well priced but other than that, overpriced and slightly over inflated ego.

The Elephant and Castle, Bolton

Just been renamed to "The Elephant & Castle" and been improved quite considerably. Good choice of very cheap drinks, aimed at the Wetherspoons/Yates market, food seems reasonable and good too. Weekend afternoons are just shoppers/older couples out for a quick cheap drink.
