Middletons Bar, Edinburgh

Not too great a bar. Pipes need cleaning as do some of the locals!

Ensign Ewart, Edinburgh

This is a nice wee bar, tucked away up by the castle, so it tends not to have many locals, more tourists. It has a code on the toilets to stop people coming in just to use the toilet! Sometimes has a bit of folk music, great for a winter evenings pint.

Cafe Royal, Edinburgh

A great Edinburgh tradition. A wee bit lived in but very much part of the faded oppulance. Main bar downstairs is truly beautiful. Upstairs is very different and better for a session, also comes into its own during the festival.

The Standing Order, Edinburgh

Should be called the moon due to the lack of any atmosphere. But at the prices it would be silly to complain. Bar staff are not great, do not seem to care who gets served first, and yes, the toilets are miles away!

The Halfway House, Edinburgh

Great, cosy little boozer. Fantastic range of whisky and beers. Tasty home cooked food and lovely staff. One of the best in Edinburgh, but tiny, so if full go somewhere else and come back when you can get a seat!

Bierex, Edinburgh

Overpriced and soulless. Avoid!

The Arcade Bar, Edinburgh

Not a huge fan of this pub. Just locals sitting around talking to each other. Not unfriendly, just not very friendly. Probably struggle when smoking ban comes in. Beeter of in the Scotsman Lounge across the road!
