Flanagans, Sandown

Not sure why this place has got such a low score. We stayed in Sandown for a week and visited this most days. Friendly staff and it had nice views with outside seating. Was made to feel very welcome at the weekly quiz night as well. Food was also very tasty and well presented.

The Plume of Feathers, Mitchell

Stayed in a holiday cottage down the road from here and visited a few times during our stay. Nice well kept pub/restaurant, mainly aimed towards the food crowd. Does have the benefit of having a billiards table which I hadn't played in years! Also ate there one night and while the food was of a good standard, it is fairly highly priced and the service was on the slow side.

The Bowgie Inn, Crantock Newquay

This pub is all about the views. Visited on a lovely sunny day and sitting in the back garden overlooking Crantock beach was a pleasure.
The pub is very large with two distinctly separate areas (old school pub area and a trendier bar area). Also decided to have some food as it was reasonably priced. Standard pub grub and fairly generous proportions. Would visit again if I was in the area.

The White House, Guildford

Given up on this pub now - the staff are always so miserable and have no interest in serving people.
Shame, because it's a nice building with a good location by the river.

The Keystone, Guildford

A little gem.
Always seems to have a good bustling atmosphere. Staff serve you promptly and there's a good selection of drinks.
Definitely worth seeking out.

The Britannia, Guildford

A good pub with outside seating at the front and back. Had a decent sunday roast in here recently which for Guildford was reasonably priced (think it was 8.95).
BTW - it says it has Sky TV and a pool table but it hasn't had these since the refurb.
Still, nice enough and will be back.

The Boatman, Guildford

The best thing about this pub is definitely the riverside location. Very nice for sitting outside in the sunshine supping your drink.
The staff were friendly and efficient and drink prices were fairly average for Guildford (i.e, quite high!).
I wouldn't choose to eat here though as the prices are too high for what I could see coming out of the kitchen.

The White House, Guildford

This pub has a good location by the river. Nice enough for a drink, but the prices are quite steep and the service cetainly doesn't reflect this. Food is overpriced for what you get.

The George Abbot, Guildford

Visited on a Saturday afteroon for a footie match. Certainly a lot better than it used to be. Efficient barstaff and a good range of beers/lagers. Not bad at all.

The Sports Bar, Fleet

Been here a few times now. Only been attacked once (mad woman smashing bottles-boyfriend calmed her down). Apart from that it's a good place to watch sport. Pool tables are good. ok

The Heron on the Lake, Fleet

Food pub. Not a place for a 'session' at all. We've taken the in-laws there before and it's been decent enough grub. Nice to sit out by the lake.

The Northcote, Clapham Junction

It has bar staff (just about - very slow, not interested in 'serving' people). No character whatsoever. A place to meet people. Then move on.

The Old Courthouse, Cove

Used to love this pub. Was a great local when I lived in Farnborough. Popped in to watch a footie game as I had fond memories of the place. Unfortunately it seems to have gone downhill in the last couple of years. Racist chanting 'Paki scored a goal' when Babel (Dutch) scored was just quite sad. Won't be going back.

The Ham and Blackbird, Farnborough

Could be great place with the layout but the staff don't really seem to care that much. Do not try the food in the pub - it is invariably crap. Shame.

The Prince of Wales, Farnborough

A very cosy little pub with a great selection of beer. If you're after a proper pub then this is the place for you.

The Merchants Inn, Rugby

Very good pub. Doesn't offer anything fancy but does the basics very well. Good friendly service when I visited and plenty of choice on the beer front. Will be visiting again next time I'm in Rugby.

The Tradesmans Arms, Cove

Steer clear. Chav hell.

15 Jul 2007 18:35

The Old Courthouse, Cove

A decent boozer. Nothing fancy, but the people are friendly with a good few characters. Steer clear of the pub opposite though.

The Thatched Cottage, Farnborough

The best pub in Farnborough/Cove. Even though I've moved away I still pop in as often as possible. Only one gripe - if you're going to double the price of food, then double the quality!

The Funky End, Aldershot

The best in Aldershot by far. Friendly staff, decent tunes, chilled atmosphere - can't recommend it enough.

Archee's Bar and Restaurant, Woking

Nice enough but the service can be very slow. Quite a few wannabees in there but friendly enough.

15 Jul 2007 18:21

The Sovereigns, Woking

Not a bad boozer at all. Used to work next door to here and would often pop in for an pint at lunch or after work. Staff always friendly and efficient with a good choice of beers. Pub grub pretty decent as well. One of the better pubs in woking.

The Frog and Forget-Me-Not, Clapham

A great place - always with excellent bar service! As mentioned, the roof terrace is a nice place to sit in the summer. Also has a nice comfy sofas and a billiards table for those that way inclined!! The Thai food that I've always had here has always been of a good quality too.
