The Old Boot, Seaford

Much better nowadays. A few years ago food here was shocking, and really hit and miss as to whether it would be correct, cold, or even turn up before dawn.

Have been here several times over the past few months, each time has been good. Menu is simple typical pub food, and some homemade items. Can take about half an hour to come out, but it's certainly worth it.

The Pilgrim, Caterham

Had a meal here with friends a few weeks ago as everything else in the area was full or we knew to be awful.
Good selection of drinks, but food was to be expected - mass produced microwave cuisine.
Wrong food was served to us at first, but staff very helpful and apologetic.

The Golden Galleon, Exceat

Went here on a Saturday evening, surprisingly quiet for some reason.
Staff were ok, certainly nothing to write home about. Waitress didn't ask if food was ok at any point (though she'd probably learnt not to)
All food turned up in 10 minutes, which is good for speed purposes, but not too good if you're trying to hide the fact they're basically microwave meals. Hotpot arrived warmish in a clearly chipped and cracked dish which the waitress did throw away afterwards, but why no-one noticed before is anyone's guess.
Two members of our party had a Chicken and ham pie which had 1cm squared of ham in one, and about 3cm squared in the other.
Overall, food very expensive for what is essentially pretty much the same stuff out the bag as you can get in the Plough (in Seaford town centre) for half the price.

The Ladybird, Caterham

Heard bad things about this place after it first opened. Highly impressed now having been here several times following the "gastropubification" of nearby Tudor Rose,

Inside is clean, warm and welcoming. With a full table service operating for those eating, all staff so far are friendly and helpful. Food is priced about right for the quality and portions.

Rising Sun, Warsash

Been here a few times in the past few months. Beautiful setting watching over the River Hamble and lots of nice nautical memorabilia inside. Very cosy and quaint.

Haven't eaten here for a while - price of food is slightly on the expensive side but looks nice and from remembering the price two years ago, might have actually reduced in price by a quid or two.

The Varsity, Southampton

Always a nice atmosphere in here, staff friendly enough. Never tried the food though.

The Spitfire, Southampton

Went here recently on a Saturday night - great atmosphere although queue at the bar was horrendous.

Yates, Southampton

Not a bad place - anytime I've been in the staff have always been very friendly and helpful.
Food's what you'd expect from a chain - all precooked and reheated on the premises but still perfectly edible.
