The Travellers Friend, Woodford Green

Popped in on sunday, the Doom Bar and Tribute was excellent. Lovely, welcoming young lady behind the ramp, good atmosphere and plenty of chatter. I mention this because whenever myself and my wife visited this pub previously we always spoke in a loud whisper! Not so now - a very pleasant evening out...

Its a beautiful little pub - but the beer has been mediocre/poor at best. Its the main reason I stayed away - the 'poor' service was irrelevant, I'd have put up with that if the beer was good. Can the new owners do a deal with Fullers and get Pride on tap? Or any other well kept ale? The only other pub is the Cricks which pours a decent pint but you quickly get bored with Country.
Will be in soon shortly to check it out, not bothered about décor or bar snacks THE BEER MUST BE GOOD.
All that being said - good luck with it...

The Wenlock Arms, Hoxton

there must be someone/people who can buy this pub, to keep from closing? The amount of money in the area...we can't keep losing pubs of this quality. Well done to everyone concerned. Unfortunately property developers are patient beasts!!

The George, South Woodford

I live in South Woodford. I never went into this pub for many years due to the quality of the beer. for some reason even the london pride when they had it didnt taste right.
Thought I would try it again last sunday. What a Difference! The IPA was first class and at 2.45 a pint excellent value. The 3.6 strength was also perfect for several lunchtime drinks.
The barstaff were also very attentive, because a previous gripe about The George was it took an age getting served.
Massive improvement,Well Done...

The Seven Stars, Chancery Lane

a real gem. good pint of broadside and love the parisian style table cloths. always a great atmosphere. i remmember visiting this pub years ago when it was heaving with lawyers, students and tourists all squashed together. was slightly worse for wear, and asked the acerbic barman bantering with several of the bar flies for a pink gin. to this day i dont know why....great pub
