The Ale House, Stroud

What a great surprise, A stunning pub in Stroud. A wide range of well kept beers. Tried the standard Dark Star Hophead 9/10, then onto the guests Burning Sky Aurora 10/10 STUNNING, Great Heck Citra IPA 9/10 wow!! 10 beers in tiptop condition plus real ciders & perries. Haven't come across a cracker like this for ages, and the homemade curry was spectacular - but probably not the wisest of moves prior to a long train journey. I'll be back.

Sandford Park Ale House, Cheltenham

Pretentious bar with cocksure landlord

The Swan, Stroud

Another Enterprise failure, revamped yet again, this time aiming purely for the chav market.

The White Horse, Hertford

What A great shame, such a brilliant pub for 25 years, brought to its knees by the greedy owners!

The Prince Albert, Rodborough Hill

A little bit out of town, but well worth the effort.

Queen Victoria Inn, Stroud

Well positioned pub in the town centre, popular with students. Interesting selection of beers & ciders and very welcoming.
On the down side, the whole place feels unfinished.

Warren House, Hertford

Now demolished for housing.

The Mill, Cambridge

Potentially cracking pub let down by average beer and indifferent 'Brakes Bros' style food.
What appeared to be the landlady, enquired patronisingly of a Japanese tourist studying the incomprehensible menu(IN A BASIL FAWLTY STYLE LOUD NORTHERN ACCENT) "No speak English Luvee??

The Anchor, Cambridge

Typical GK outlet, inoffensive but of little merit.

The Standard Bearer, Stevenage

Another dreadful example of a Wetherspoons.
I can remember when walking into a strange town, that these were a nice safe starter pub to go to until you found your bearings for a better one.
Visited last night whilst waiting for a train. Ordered a pint of Hereford Bitter, and foolishly tasted it without smelling it first, it was worse than Sarson's.
Managed to wash my mouth out, thought, foolishly I'd try something else which turned out to be not much better.
Absolutely no effort by the landlady, as I believe she was, to apologize. My money was returned begrudgingly.
On the way in, someone posing as a doorman, was trying to sell drugs to all and sundry. Anyone interested was told to only come near him once the CCTV camera had moved off him!!

The Old Post Office, Stevenage

Wandered in here 730ish last night, whilst waiting for a train, and wandered straight out again.
A pitched battle was brewing, I'm not sure what the sides were, but if you weren't stoned or paralytic you were very clearly in the wrong place.
I suppose on the positive side, nobody tried to sell me any drugs, unlike in Wetherspoons right next door!
There was a GK beer on the bar but decided it really wasn't worth the hassle!

The James Figg, Thame

What a fabulous pub. I've visited a few, but I have to say that their attention to detail was exemplary. The beer would get an 8/10, but the range was interesting. The staff were welcoming & helpful.
It was a pleasure to be there even just to watch the interaction of staff and customers. My first port of call the next time I visit Thame.
Well Done!

The White Horse, Oxford

What a disappointment.
Over priced, average quality beer, perfect as a tourist trap.
There are far far better pubs in Oxford!!
And don't get me started on the surly barmaid!!

The White Horse, Hertford

Probably the most attractive pub in Hertford, and that's about as good as it gets.
The beer range is limited, thanks Fullers, but what is available is of a pretty poor standard, when it is available.
Haven't tried the food, but normally complimented by those I know who have.

The Old Barge, Hertford

Currently the best pub in town. Catering for all in comfortable surroundings.
However on my latest visits the beers although acceptable, were not up to their usual high standards. At the price charged, one would expect the beers to be in top condition at least 90% of the time.
The food is quite good, but again at these prices, it should be!
