The Mitre, Holland Park

It is Dog friendly which after the closure of Academy is worth knowing

The Anglers, Teddington

Just been to Anglers for Sunday lunch. Very busy and a lot of families with children, no place in small car park. Ended up outside but service quick and sirloin, Yorkshire pudding, and seasonal vegetables excellent. I noticed the menu had a veggie special with Yorkshire pudding well done. The full Fullers beers on offer including Seafarers and winter ale. Decent pint of Pride and attentive service throughout.

The Red Lion, Barnes

Just seen the short measure comment and am astonished. Never seen it in my years of going to the pub. It doesn't mean I am blind faithful. Sometimes the draught beers have tasted a bit dusty and I let them know! but never deliberately short or not fully topped up if asked ( with new staff certainly).

The only possible explanation would be that a brand new and unsupervised antipodean had escaped from his minders to serve you MK, was a Queensland Reds supporter so was getting you back for their defeat to the Lions ( the timings work)?

Maybe you were there on a very hot day and were distressed by the kids?

Lewes Arms, Lewes

Visited for food early evening on a Friday. Lucky to get a table by the fire as cold outside, was a scramble by others to grab it when we left. Very busy.people standing with drinks in hallway.
Food fare traditional( pies, chips, peas) one of us had the burger and appreciated the beef or lamb choice. Lamb burger with feta was a success. All food good.
Harveys excellent. First time experience. Then had Fullers London Pride which was a very different taste to the Harveys clearly will stick to one or other next time. Others posters capture pub well on size and staff, can't comment on spirits prices.

The Red Lion, Westminster

Just popped in for a pint - it is a Fullers pub had a pint of Pride and £3.85 which for London seems standard now. The Bar area is very narrow and was full of after work workers. The beer was good

The Red Lion, Barnes

The pub has been experimenting with some fantastic food ( Venison con carne, three separate mini meat pies and gravy and this weekend a venison dish with vegetable pie) which has added to its appeal. Also my daughter has just got a puppy so an added bonus of being Dog Friendly- a new world to me.

The Albion, West Kensington

Scottish & newcastle tenancy. Looks great but short of good ale everything less than 4.5 %. no strong ale but great pub vibe

The Hand and Flower, Kensington

Frustrated ESB off but only after i took my clloudy pint back please get it managed bar staff didn't have a clue

The Crown and Sceptre, Kensington

Good beer selection scottish sometjing,, brief pint didnt stay long enough to know more

The Princess of Wales, Blackheath

Stopped off after rugby game and only drank beer and had snacks . The Pride was pefectly good, my colleagues all had Doombar which seemed to go down very well. Portions of thick cut chips were also consumed at the bar. These were v good too. From looking around it is clearly a wine and food pub rather than a beer drinker haunt. Great Location on Heath

The Red Lion, Barnes

Huntforbeer interesting comment. Barnes as location is a big family area so you may have been unlucky in timing. Certainly in the summer they are all outside so that helps maybe. I tend to go early evening so have not had that experience. Food continues to be excellent beers also good although I have had the occasional "in the pipe" pint particularly the ESB. Jack Frost on.
Wines are aslo good notably a white Rioca! There are some new bottled drinks in the cabinet I think they are ciders.

The Hand and Flower, Kensington

Just been bought by Fullers

The Prince of Wales, Holland Park

Things havent improved since Foxski's visit; sadly still no beer choice and the appearance of a pub that has had half of its fittings removed and the new owners to skint or stingy to spend.

14 Dec 2010 11:46

The Red Lion, Barnes

Waiting for them to offer the jack frost winter ale ? It has been cold enough. The food sprecials from the board are to be commended

14 Dec 2010 11:39

The TreeHouse, Barnes

The pub has draught Grenwich Mean time which is OK. have been there twice in two weeks.
First time my other half had a special and I had a burger. She loved her food I was non plussed.Second time I had a special she had off the menu and it was the reverse.
Agree with other posters that atmosphere and service very good, they also have a big back garden for smokers

The Holly Bush, Hampstead

Can confirm it is Fullers owned now:

From the 4th Feb RSN

................Since the half year we have acquired two pubs - The Railway, Kew for the Tenanted Inns division and The Holly Bush, Hampstead for Managed Pubs and Hotels............................

19 Mar 2010 10:33

The Duke, Richmond

Called in to eat and drink before Rugby International. Ordered a pint of Doombar (nice) and Aspal came to 7.20. Ordered some nuts from a jar you know they come in a small white bowl probably two packets of KP nuts- 2
We ordered food I had a smoked salmon starter I wasnt too hungry (6.00)
and my friend had a burger (9.50). My food was good the burger was fine but I would say expensive for a pub as all dishes at that price point and more. The atmosphere was good the roof lights creating a light and airy feel- The men and women signs in the loos confused me for a bit; so watch out for that.
For the beer drinkers there was also Fullers London Pride on offer. Overall a very nice pub but expensive

The Bridge, Barnes

Popped in for a quick beer and although the huge display of lagers and gassy beers dominate the bars I am pleased to report that two ales were available: Fullers and Naked lady. I had a pint of Pride. Nimhbus will be happy.
The restaurant was very busy despite it being early so they must be getting something right. Equally the bar area was "nice" busy. Perhaps there is a benefit from the closure of the pub opposite but it seemed all OK to me.

27 Oct 2009 09:48

The Old City Arms, Hammersmith

Popped in on my way back to Barnes and the football was on. This seems to be the pub's focus having been past it every evening it has a board outside advertising that it shows live games. Food was being served which I didn't sample.I had a half of doombar which was OK. Agree with other posters that the atmosphere isn't great and the barmaid who served me not overwhelming.

27 Oct 2009 09:31

The Bull's Head, Barnes

Agree with all the posters imagine how good it could be if properly managed. It is on the river next to Strada which uses its site much better.
The Thai is very good, the owner behaves like a caricature- customers are an inconvenience. The seats in the Jazz venue like they were designed by a torturer. Too short, too straight backed and too narrow- I think it is part of proving you love jazz so much you will sit in the most uncomfortable chairs on the planet without complaining. Must be the landlord again.
The pubs uniqueness is the live Jazz every night of the year and I have just told you about attending that.............

12 Oct 2009 15:50

The Spotted Dog, Barking

Strange cavernous place came in around five on Saturday as with romfordir thought the Wetherspoon would be too busy. It was empty when we arrived but the staff still managed to make us wait to be served and then wait for the drinks as they disappeared to another bar.
At six it was as if the lights had been turned on suddenly people coming in and service grinding into gear.......had two pints of Old Wallop the first was as my friend commented slightly too warm but no problem with the second round.

12 Oct 2009 15:13

The Red Lion, Barnes

Have to update my Feb review with a comment that says the fish and chips is now back to excellent and I have been having food there regularly.

12 Oct 2009 14:33

The Idle Hour, Barnes

Very dissapointing after so much hype,. Service very poor and food very average, Crab tasteless and "famous" burger not very different from Tootsies burger so not so special in flavour,, A big play is organic but that is an invisible and not seen-perhaps more proof on the serving would help?
Vegetarian main course equally uninspiring,Spicy but not varied in taste.
The Harveys beer was good- an award winning real ale from suffolkshame about the rest

25 Sep 2009 22:28

The Spencer Arms, Putney

Came here mid afternoon, have a good selection of ales including Pride, black Sheep and Doombar. Had a pint of Pride at 3.40 which is steep. Offering Food which looked equall expensive, Two girls bought two bottles of Westons cider for 9.00 so again not cheap. I had a pint of Black Sheep and nuts for 5.25.

15 Aug 2009 17:10

The Temperance, Putney Bridge

came here midafternoon after a Chelsea game, Very nice decor and good selection of beers, Were offering St Austells IPA on draught. food also served food, IPA 3.00. Nice feel to it

15 Aug 2009 17:05

The Queens Head, Hammersmith

Visisted the Pub and sampled a pint of Pride. The pub has been refurbished and looks good. Young girl behind the bar not really clued up and a bit slow-the barman was struggling to get pressure on a lager and cursing. The ever present Seafarers was on offer but I didn't try it. The Pride was good 2.70 a pint 50p less than the Scrasdale Tavern just up the road!!

16 Jun 2009 10:58

The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington

Visited it for the first time since the take over. Full set of Gales beers on tap- Seafarers and HSD. Pride and a guest ale. Arrived early evening and only one drinking Ale- every other order was Wine or spirits. Pint of pride 3.10 - is that the most expensive ever? I had the HSD next at 3.20 so no...... both pints good.
A lady next to me bought a large glass of house red for 5.05- so not alot of change from a tenner here. Also the answer to her original Fonsecca red wine request was ah we don't have tha wine and when asked about it's possible future availability replied oh we don't know it has been off for a while. Why keep it on then?
Some young men arrived and upon ordering a portion of chips were told you can't just have chips any more you can have garlic bread and olives and order the chips as a vegetable. The total of those two orders came to over 5.
The pub was busy. A local was chatting to the maion barman discussing something about the new owners knowing......( I couldn't hear!)
Still a fantastic location and the food orders were being taken and served, so still popular.

16 Jun 2009 10:49

The Wayfarer Inn, Instow

Visited early evening, All tables marked reserved and staff tell prospective customer "no chance" to booking.Nowhere for us to sit therefore.Beer gtarden with undercover bike storage- it used to be the skittle hall. Food expensive, doombar on gravity behind bar- first pint a bit fusty. All other beers fizzy lagers- a scrumpy also on offer.Considering the time of year a restaurant more than Pub IMHO,

27 Mar 2009 14:41

The Scarsdale Tavern, Kensington

Punch have just sold the pub to Fullers so hopefully this will regain some of its momentum and see it's considerable charm enhanced

27 Mar 2009 14:39

The Queens Head, Hammersmith

I have just seen that Fullers have bought it from Punch so perhaps some hope of a return to pub values.

27 Mar 2009 14:36

Latymers, Hammersmith

From the outside it has always looked a bit odd as it is a new build. The Pub was clean and friendly. It was very busy with two Sky sports screens showing the live Cricket and the latest sports news- my heaven but not everyone's.
Big circular mirror on the ceiling quite a feature
Locals at the bar and tourists sitting both sides of us. Family came in the pub and went to the Restaurant section at back of pub. My daughters ate the Thai food and declared it great.
I drank a very nice pint of Pride and was very tempted by the bottled Fullers beers on offer.

23 Feb 2009 11:43

The Red Lion, Barnes

Had a very dissapointing Fish and Chips for the 3rd time. No more. This is a shame as it used to be very good and was a great value dish.
It is also in need of a tidy up it is looking tired

23 Feb 2009 11:31
