I had lunch at Spice island yesterday, and, as usual, the food was well cooked and plentiful, without aspiring to anything very sophisticated. In view of Spiggy's comments, I timed the arrival of lunch ( Leek and Caerphilly Burger with chips and side salad) - 13 minutes, which I thought very acceptable. The service was very friendly, and the view from the terrace, across to the Prospect of Whitby, is, as always!, wonderful

The Blacksmith's Arms, Rotherhithe
The previous management of this pub served meals only in the evening, so I thought I woud write to say that lunch is now available. The food is good, and the pub is comfortable will well upholstered banquette-type seating, and there are two tables on the pavement in Rotherhithe St. A very friendly welcome and a good atmosphere.

The Hartley, Bermondsey
Visited with a friend at lunchtime today. Brilliant food and a very relaxed atmosphere. The service very attentive without being pushy. Excellent value for money as well.
