The Two Mile Oak, Abbotskerswell

Quite a good old pub this on the main road between newton abbot and totnes. This is a pub ive wanted to call into for many years, and finally i got the chance to.Its very old indeed with a very old musky smell to it,the second you walk through the door you notice it.Serving Bass and otter ale the ale quality is very good.Food prices are silly really, but people will pay the prices as it seems to be where buisness folk like to meet up.The old sign outside painted on the wall says famous for food,it may well be but sadly overpriced for what you get in my opinion but a superb drinking pub none the less.

The Plough Inn, Ipplepen

Serving bays gold by bays brewery of paignton and old speckled hen on when i called in,8/4/08.I got the impression this is where the youngsters of Ipplepen go of an evening, there is a beer festival taking place here on 24 25 may 08.The bays gold i had was served too cold for my liking.

Rashleigh Arms, Charlestown

A superb pub,the very large bar gives plenty of space to the customer,a couple televisions in the bar for the sports fans to watch the football and rugby.A good selection of ales available,Tribute and proper job by St Austell,Horizon by Wadworth's and rev james by Brains of cardiff was on when i called in on sunday 20/04/08.The lounge area was kitted out for meals with the carvery doing very well indeed very busy. They also have quite alot of entertainment here with singers coming from around the country to perform here.A top rated pub in my view.

Very much a locals pub, with the bar area popular with the 18-21 year old element.ale quality is pretty good although the brewery is only half a mile up the road.

The Coopers Arms, Highbridge

with it being situated 100 yards from the railway station, that is the best thing i can add to this pub,i must add the ale quality was of poor standard and with bar staff more intrested in tv or their mobile phones, getting served here is a work of art in itself.avoid it really.

Royal Artillery Arms, Highbridge

with a superb selection of real ales on here,no wonder camra members rate it so highly,i called in here on sunday 6th april 08,the had on port stout by o'hanlons double header by RCH,also pg steam and old slug porter also by RCH tawny by cotleigh and also tinners by st austell, yellow hammer by o'hanlons and finally pitchfork by RCH.This is a very friendly pub with locals enjoying a cheeseboard at the bar and a selection of meats to help yourself,a greatpub in my opinion and look forward to calling in again very soon.

The Fountain Inn, Newbridge

selling st austell ales tinners and tribute, this lovely old pub on the main penzance to st just road has a bus stop no more than 15 foot away from its main entrance, worth a visit or 2 if you get the chance.

The Union Rooms, Plymouth

As a plymouth lad,ive called in this place on a few occasions,if your a real ale man/woman,dont go in here, the duty manager is never around,if they have a cellarman they dont know their job,it a truely awful experience going in here, the main stay of the staff are students, who generally serve their mates from the uni before you.As a member of CAMRA ive had run ins with the staff in here on more than 1 occasion. The ale festivals that wetherspoons run in here are a waste of time,in the in-house magazine, wetherspoon pubs state the ale of their pubs should be served at between 11-13 cent,a glass of real ale in the union rooms comes out at the same temperature as the lager thet sell between 2.0-2.5cent.
I strongly recommend ale drinkers to call in the mannamead or brittania if they want to go to a wetherspoons for a drink and something to eat, both of which serve real ale at the correct temperature and they change their ales very regularly.I just wish the staff at union rooms payed attention to their jobs and deliver to paying customers a service that they deserve, instead of clowning around, serve you when they see fit, serve luke warm food and have attitude problems,oh yes,and get the ale sorted out,i cant understand for the life of me how it gains a cask marque certificate.very very poor!! avoid this place if you can.
