The Trackside, Bury

All I can say is what a little gem of a pub, perfectly kept ales,a nice atmosphere, all great value.a good mix of different ales on was the highlight.Small pub but busy, and the crack was excellent.

Looking forward to returning on a future visit.

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Sadly this pub is now CLOSED..A real shame as it was great for a drink on an away trip

27 Jan 2015 14:07

The Black Lion, Sedgefield

About the only place in the village to sup real ale apart from the Dun Cow but obviously a 60p a pint price difference.

9 Oct 2014 13:40

Dun Cow Inn, Sedgefield

2 years since last visit....price has gone up to 3.60 for cheapest pint of ale.
Bit over the top in a small village almost defunct of real ale. I didnt buy the round but the beer was too cold.

The Prince of Wales, Shrewsbury

My 1st visit to this pub which was organised from a football trip with our West Cumbrian Carlisle Utd fans group. Well 10 real ales on and a classic cloudy cider.Around £2.90 a pint all served and kept well. They even had a programme for the day with list of beers on and info for guests visiting for the day.Excellent service from bar staff,Landlord was very friendly and good banter, prepared to go out of his way to help out his customers....Scran was good too, nice selection of fresh baguettes on the bar, A real top quality boozer.Nice touch of Shrewsbury town stuff on the walls and the bowling green at the back actually has seats around it which were from Gay Meadow. A must visit if you are in the town. On par with The Admiral Benbow.

The Old Fourpenny Shop Hotel, Warwick

A gem of a pub,had some really nice ales on,very well kept too. Nice clean and friendly, very relaxing place to go. Had an excellent pint called "what the fox is that",a locally made ale. Very handy next to the racecourse.

25 Apr 2013 21:41

The Sir Percy Florence Shelley, Boscombe

Small spoons. Went in as a group of smurfs before the football.was busy, friendly enough place, the service however I felt was a little slow. Ales were fine,no issues here.

25 Apr 2013 21:38

The Moon in the Square, Bournemouth

Pretty good spoons actually and a good selection of ales too, upstairs had a bar which solely sells ringwood ales which was a surprise. still a friendly place to go day and night. ale seemed well kept.

25 Apr 2013 21:36

The Mary Shelley, Bournemouth

Good sized Lloyd bar which was bouncing, although there was a quieter area to sit in. Good selection of ales. No complaints. Had a few visits in here through the weekend.

25 Apr 2013 21:32

Walkabout, Bournemouth

Standard walkabout..a 2.30am visit so a swift JD and coke and a mingle. Bogs were filthy downstairs with all the drunken folk who had spewed!

25 Apr 2013 21:31

The Litten Tree, Bournemouth

Very loud indeed, but had 3 ales on to our surprise, only a shame they were in a plastic glass which spoils the enjoyment. More of a sports pub by the look of it and disco later on.

25 Apr 2013 21:29

O'Neills, Bournemouth

Looked tidy for an O'neills pub, nice fresh decor. 3 real ales on and were fine, maybe a little colder than usual. Seemed a popular place but only went in for a pint. Dunno what the food was like as there is a separate dining area.

25 Apr 2013 21:27

The Christopher Creeke , Bournemouth

Went in here several times during our weekend visit.A small pub for a spoons but ales were pretty good. We took over it one morning dressed as smurfs which attracted a lot of attention. Everyone seemed friendly enough. Nowt fancy but ok for a pint

25 Apr 2013 21:25

Brasshouse, Bournemouth

On a weekend trip and stumbled across this big place. very loud and full of students but still tried it out for a one off with the group I was in. Ale was overpriced and didnt taste very good. Highlights were that there was good eye candy.

25 Apr 2013 21:23

Goat and Tricycle, Bournemouth

Well on a weekend football trip,we decided to check out this pub. What we found was a classic old pub away from the main streets.Liked the old type deco,a lot of crooks/sticks on the ceiling were very interesting to look at. Vibrant and friendly. around 10 ales on and were very well kept indeed. A bit pricey was the only negative (for us northerners at around £3.50 a pint). We still stayed in there for a couple of hours. Good banter with the locals too. Well worth a visit again if you visit Bournemouth. Probably the best real ale pub in the area.

22 Apr 2013 13:46

The Old Grey Mare, Royton

Although no real ale on it is still an ok pub. Welcomed away fans on a footy trip. Theakstons Mild and Smooth on keg which was ok,..plenty of the usual other lagers, stouts on too. A friendly enough pub to visit before a game.

8 Apr 2013 10:35

The Rifle Range, Chadderton

Another pleasant visit to this pub. As an away fan we are made welcome and friendly banter with the locals.2 Lees' ales on handpull and nice to have a pint of mix.Cheap at under £2.50 a pint Good selection of other beers too. Plenty of room to sit. A nice visit before a game of football. Just a 5 minute walk away from Boundary Park.

8 Apr 2013 10:33

The Rutland Arms, Sheffield

Swift pint before the game.Like last season the local tipple from the brewery was excellent. Blue Bee ales are pretty good stuff to sip. Friendly service and good banter with the locals too.

Shame we had to go to the football, otherwise it is a pub you could stay in and enjoy.

2 Apr 2013 22:16

The Globe, Sheffield

Classic student pub but had real ale on to our surprise at £1.99 a pint so we were happy.Oddly enough it was the best kept pint of the day trip we had. Nice little pub en route to Bramall Lane.

2 Apr 2013 22:12

Graduate, Sheffield

1st visit to this pub.Smith and Jones/ Barracuda pub. Good choice of ales. busy for a Saturday afternoon. No problems with the ale, quite cheap compared to other pubs. Would go in again on returning to Sheffield

2 Apr 2013 21:56

Old Monk, Sheffield

Footy was on big screens when we got there,so was busy. A couple of handpumps on. Standard ale. Didn't find owt special about it,but worth a visit going round Sheffield. banter with locals was friendly enough.

2 Apr 2013 21:54

The Bankers Draft, Sheffield

Usual Spoons pub, plenty of ale on and spacious up and downstairs. Only had a swift pint, but was a good starting point for the day

2 Apr 2013 21:51

The Trent Bridge Inn, West Bridgford

Another pleasant visit to this pub. Service was quicker than last years visit. Good ales on again. This spoons also still accepts the camra discount card which surprised me a little as other spoons pubs I had been in this year had only been accepting the vouchers. So that was pleasing.
Good banter between football supporters with no problems. Handy starting point near the football grounds and next door to the cricket ground.

11 Mar 2013 10:59

The Southbank Bar, West Bridgford

Visted again on a football trip for pre game ales. The pub has had a makeover since last years visit. All looks very modern and a nautical theme as well. The bar in the same place and plenty of tvs. The ale was inch perfecrly kept. All Navigation ales plus if you bought 6 ales you got a free one. The service was excellent from the girls on the bar. They would come round and ask if anyone wanted a refill and sort you out with more ale.

Good pub to come if you are going to a Forest or County game and of course for the cricket

11 Mar 2013 10:55

The Globe, Nottingham

Pub sadly now boarded up

5 Mar 2013 15:54

The Royal, Birkenhead

Pub is called The Cock and Pullet so should be changed at the top of the page.
1st visit proved a really excellent experience. 6 or 7 ales on,all very well kept and tasty, including Wobbly Bob...The surroundings on the wall were very interesting with lots of old photos of Birkenhead as well as some quirky little additions around the place. Very friendly, helpful staff too. A little gem of a pub. Worth the visit for football fans.Locals were really friendly too and felt welcomed as an away fan.Around a 10-15 min walk from Prenton Park.

3 Feb 2013 11:41

The Halfway House, Birkenhead

Well following a change in management this was worth another go, 3 real ales on Green King IPA,Bombadier and a Conwy ale. Much better pint this time. 1st thing in the morning so a few customers were in for an early pint. Friendly banter all round.

3 Feb 2013 11:37

The Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury

We visited the pub on 15th Dec from Cumbria before our (Carlisle Utd) game against Shrewsbury. All I can say is that it was a very welcoming pub,the landlord was top notch and looked after us for the couple of hours we were there.Very friendly and excellent crack. The ale was spot on,well kept and so was some of the excellent scrumpy that was on offer. Nice old classic snug and a beer garden out back made this a lovely experience, and the nice added touch of the candles on the tables
The landlord was probably the most friendly chap that we have come across on our away day travels. A good example on how to look after his customers. Others should take note. The home made pork pies with stilton were delicious too.
A shame we had to leave for the game, the landlord even organised the taxi for us to the game. Hope to return here again in the future as it was such a lovely little querky pub with quality ale and service. Dont often give a 10 but on this occasion this pub deserves it. A must if you visit Shrewsbury.

27 Dec 2012 16:10

The Black Country Arms, Walsall

Once again another great visit to this pub. Ale was absolutely top notch. Tried an unusual ale with Blueberry hint and its one of those you could happily sip all day. The other ales were also well kept (shame I did't get to try them all)Excellent friendly service from staff and although I didn't eat,I did hear from a few that the food was yummy. A real gem of a pub with 16 handpulled ales on,a great choice to choose from too. Wish there were more pubs like this one.

If you go to Walsall, this is a MUST visit.

9 Oct 2012 11:26

The Greyhound Inn, Longford

What a lovely little pub.A classic with compact ceilings, and classic deco with adverts and banners from years gone by. A nice choice of ales on offer too. Enjoyed the Bass on handpull,it had been a while since drinking that stuff, but they had some local ales on too which were enjoyable.
2 roaring fires to keep everyone warm, good friendly service too. A great pub and location next to a canal, ideal to wander down to The Ricoh Arena after a few ales.
Will return here if we play Coventry again.

24 Sep 2012 17:04

Dun Cow Inn, Sedgefield

2nd visit to the pub...Unfortunately at 3.50 for an ale was overpriced compared to the rest of the village. You would need to a fat wallet ,so 1 pint was enough. The pricing is wrong.

11 Sep 2012 09:30

Jackson's Wharf, Hartlepool

Busy pub being a football day. The usual Marstons type of selections of ale to choose from. Nice setting by the marina outside

11 Sep 2012 09:27

The Swan, York

We planned a visit here beforehand ,it was well worth it,a nice pub,a classic old boozer, good friendly atmosphere, and a good selection of ales on.And some strong real ciders as well to cater for all. I can see why it was popular. A pub you could sit in all night..but York is a great real ale mecca and other pubs had to be found.
Will visit again the next time i visit York.

25 Apr 2012 17:12

The Globe, Nottingham

Enjoy a few ales in this pub also camra card discount, each beer i had was very well kept,a warm and friendly atmosphere on a football day. another pub you could sit and drink in all day.service was good

8 Mar 2012 11:41

The Trent Bridge Inn, West Bridgford

Very nice looking spoons pub by the cricket ground. good quality ales on offer.i did like all the cricket themed painting and pictures on the wall. camra cards were welcome as well as the 50p off vouchers which was handy,so ale was cheap.
the service was slightly slow even though 4 staff shouldve managed at 11am in the morning..the pub wasnt busy at the time, but still a good visit and would happily return for a few jars again.

8 Mar 2012 11:39

The Southbank Bar, West Bridgford

First visit to this pub.looks standard from the outside, but a nice layout inside with a square bar..decents ales on and an excellent selection of tap beers for lager drinkers too, seemed friendly, with footy fans mixing .so suited to all types of drinkers. recommended on a footy day out..plenty of choice of games to view on the tv too.

8 Mar 2012 11:35

Station Inn, Maryport

pub is closed for a while

6 Feb 2012 10:45

The Derby Tup, Whittington Moor

Visited en route to the football. Well it was worth the long journey just to try out this pub.proper old style boozer, was packed out and the selection of ales were all top notch. prices range from 1.95 to 3.15 for various pints of ale.
quick service and friendly too. more pubs like this please!!

21 Sep 2011 19:03

The Halfway House, Birkenhead

Most shocking pint of ale served to us ever.......was vile, tasted like vinegar, undrinkable unless you had an iron gut....swiftly moved on,wont be returning there again....criminal to serve ale in poor condition.A gent came up to us and said put your money behind the bar,its cheap beer......he didnt seem to bothered that we were all cringing at our pints of vile EPA ..we even put a coin in the glass.and it was so acidic it cleaned the 2p..that bad.never tried asking for money back as it wasnt worth arguing over........AVOID

went up to the sportsmans where the same ale was served in quality fashion.

14 Sep 2011 13:05

The Greyhound Inn, Accrington

Popped in before going to watch a football match.
Sam Smiths pub, again excellent value, ale was very nice indeed(1.63 a pint) and friendly banter from the locals and barstaff too, made this an enjoyable visit.Would like to spend a longer time in the pub next time im on a football trip.

9 Sep 2011 10:40

The Staff of Life, Bury

Decent pint of Lees, handy for Bury FC.

26 Aug 2011 11:52

The Cemetery Hotel, Rochdale

2nd visit here..once again it was an enjoyable experience. The ales were top notch again and being a tuesday,i was able to use my camra card. only 1 gripe,we waited 50 mins for 2 bowls of chips....but wont let spoil the enjoyment of sitting in the pub as its an extremely friendly one at that.

26 Aug 2011 11:51

The Rose and Crown, Bury

Excellent selection of ales from all over the country, well kept too.perfect for a football outing..looking forward to going there again.

26 Aug 2011 11:48

The Regal, Cambridge

Was staying in Cambridge with a group from West Cumbria ,Most of us ended up in this pub on both nights. A big place to say the least with an excellent selection of ales on..food was ok as usual, atmosphere was excellent all night..Stayed till closing time,at 3am...Great nights fun,no problems with any staff.dunno what the fuss is about with some reviews.

2 May 2011 14:21

Redhill, Stafford

Popped in following a motorway break,Old hooky and pedigree, reasonably priced too. not bad. big sized place.
cheaper than across the road by at least 20p a pint.

6 Apr 2011 09:47

The Full House, Hemel Hempstead

Packed out for a Sat evening...ale was fine, plenty of it on.big enough place mind compared to spoons back in cumbria. Didnt find anything wrong about the place, but I dont live there.Enjoyed the banter in there. Beer cheap of course only 1.55 a pint with a Camra voucher..cant go wrong for cheap peeve.

6 Apr 2011 09:42

White Lion, Apsley End

Again a decent pint of ale in here.Seemed an ok pub too me,nowt fancy, just how a regular pub should be.

6 Apr 2011 09:35

The Oddfellows Arms, Hemel Hempsted

A classic boozer, with a decent selection of ales on(less expensive than pubs nearby)
It was packed out so atmosphere was good in there at the time.(party was on)
Locals were very friendly too.

6 Apr 2011 09:33

Paper Mill, Hemel Hempstead

Jesus !!! 3.70 for a pint of ale..utterly ridiculous.I dont care if its down south as an excuse..just Dick Turpin prices. You need a mortgage to drink here and be loaded. the grub looked nice though and was reasonably priced for the quality portions that were coming out.
Just a shame the prices are ridiculous,as I could stayed in there sipping all night.

6 Apr 2011 09:31

The Waggon and Horses, Outlane

Visited en route to a football game with a coach load. Served timothy taylor and black sheep..3.05 a pint which for the area was a bit too much really, but the rest of the pub was fine, friendly atmosphere and good banter.Frank Worthington is a local and he paid a visit especially to entertain us footy fans, which made our day.Top Man. i would return to this pub again.Just off the M62 on the way to Huddersfield.

9 Mar 2011 10:25

The Swan Inn, Outlane

Went in this pub on a football trip..Nice quiet boozer, a few folk in during the afternoon.Had Timothy Taylor and Bombadier on handpull, plus they had another which wasnt being used. 2.98 a pint was a tad dear which was the only drawback, but deffo go back there for another afternoon session.

9 Mar 2011 10:21

The Barge and Barrel, Elland

My 2nd visit to this pub.Once again the standard and choice of real ale are excellent and reasonably priced. Its great coming to these types of pubs as you get to try a variety or milds, darks, strong, pale and session ales all at once although the backside suffers the following day.
Locals happy to crack, the lass on the bar was quite knowledgeable when recommending ales too..no loud noise either .a great pub for ale and having a crack....
Another visit is planned for next week when our group from West Cumbria travel down early before our game with Huddersfield.

2 Feb 2011 10:42

The Sportsmans Arms, Birkenhead

A classic old type pub with 2 separate rooms..Cheap ale, infact 1.75 a pint for all pints as it was a Monday. The landlord is a Geordie and certainly looks after his customers.Bar staff on the ball and friendly enough.Basic pub food, but went out quick with orders.Being a matchday it got quite busy. 3 hanpulls but only 1 being used, due to no recent delivery, but it didnt matter The Marstons EPA went down a treat. Would recommend this pub to footy fans rather than the Prenton Hotel by Tranmers ground.Just a 5 min walk away.

5 Jan 2011 16:52

The Blackhorse, Birkenhead

Went in here as we a were on a foot trip.A typical northern pub, nothing spectacular,a bit run down in need of a lick of paint indoors and outside..had Bombadier on handpull ,sadly it wasnt the best pint ever served..had an unusual caramel taste to it,therefore was open to debate if it was actually Bombadier.

5 Jan 2011 16:47

The Black Country Arms, Walsall

Came down from Cumbria following Carlisle Utd and a few groups of us decided to stop off at this pub,as Id read good reviews about it.
What can I say....ale heaven.....not enough time to get through them all (although wouldve if I wasnt at the game).Around 15 hand pumps on.
A friendly clean pub, every pint was served to perfection,a nice selection including Black country ales, and some from the West Country too (Devon and Cornwall). With my mates we all chose different ales and tasted most of them in the end. My favourite pint was Elderquad..cant remember the brewery
Wish there were more pubs like this..It was like a mini ale festival.Other lads who were drinking in there with us said the food was excellent and they also commented on the high quality of ale. Prices were also very reasonable too compared to many other places. Hope Walsall dont get relegated so we can have a trip here next year.....top notch and if youre in Walsall get yourself in for a few ales.
IT A 10 FOR ME.

22 Nov 2010 20:27

Imperial, Walsall

Much better than last years visit..had a couple of decent Exmoor Dark pints.no problems this time.service was better than last year, therefore i will higher my rating .

21 Nov 2010 16:03

Old Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Ambleside

Went to the Old Dungeon Ghyll Hikers bar after a long walk. Nice to find a few real ales on handpull. A classic old fashioned bar,no fancy frills, just a nice friendly place to sit and enjoy a beer after a long days walking. The ale was served and kept well, had some Cumberland ale, have to say its the best one ive had in a while, other pubs havent kept it right, also had a nice pint of Theakstons XB which went down nicely. The bar staff were friendly and happy to have crack and the lad was very knowledgeable about his ales. The outside was pleasant as well with several tables to sit and enjoy a scenic area. Shame I had to get the bus back to Ambleside at 4.15 as I couldve stayed and drank all evening. Look forward to returning when I am in Langdale again. (transferred these comments from the other pub nearby)

4 Nov 2010 20:16

The Jail House Pub and Restaurant, Workington

place is no longer a pub,it a hotel called the sleepwell inn....with the drunks that linger round the area on weekends..i cant see the justification in the new name.

4 Nov 2010 00:59

The Fat Cat, Sheffield

Another classic pub we visited before the footy last month...a swift visit, but sampled an excellent pint of Um bongo (not the orange) rocket fuel with a cracking taste. The other lads had some of the Kelham Island stuff and it was excellent.no complaints, good company, friendly bar staff too. Again i wish we couldve stayed at got hammered but footy comes 1st. Looking forward to going again in the future as the choice of ales was outstanding. Recommended on a pub crawl in that area.

6 Oct 2010 20:53

The Kelham Island Tavern, Sheffield

A few of us (carlisle utd fans) went in here before going to the footy at Hillsborough last month.A much anticpated stop off and it was a pub which delivered on pure quality ale, shame we only stayed for a swift pint but we couldve stayed in there all day and got hammered. A classic/proper boozer...the country needs more of these.

6 Oct 2010 20:48

The Old Well, Barnard Castle

A couple of us visited this pub en route to a footy game at Hartlepool. Well this pub is excellent, best one for ale in Barnard Castle. 5 real ales were on including Directors,Timothy Taylor Landlord,Camerons Strong Arm and 2 others which were all tasted by us. 2.70 a pint, all clearly kept and served at the perfect temperature. It was very friendly and the Landlord was an excellent host, clearly looking after his customers throughout.Happily cracking away. The pub is also a hotel/B and B and the eating areas were all set out nicely. and it had a nice view of the Castle Walls and beyond from out the back, which would be a nice sun trap in the summer months. We didnt try and food as we had to make haste to the footy later on.
It is head and shoulders above the other pubs we have been to in town on a previous occasion. I would recommend this to any visitor to the town if they want good service and a cracking pint of real ale.

29 Sep 2010 10:31

Bank Tavern, Keswick

Mountainman,The Bank tavern is owned by Jennings/Marstons, to me there is no excuse for overpricing. The fact is that theres tourism all year round in Keswick and many pubs are busy to what Ive seen when I am there. It wasnt just the 1 pub,its Keswick in general,I just feel sorry for the locals who have basically been coined out of being able to afford to go out for regular nights out. Theres plenty of jennings pubs out on the coast which serve cheaper beer.....and less tourists..

As I said the ale is kept well in the pub but its a rip off.
And for the record Wetherspoons do keep the beer well in Workington and Carlisle, thats why I am happy to drink in there. I just think Keswick should think about its locals more and how they feel about silly prices for alcohol. It is more expensive than London. And grasmere..I got a beer 50p cheaper....

27 Sep 2010 15:00

The New Dungeon Ghyll Hotel, Langdale

25 Sep 2010 10:54

Imperial, Walsall

Went in this pub back in October, worst spoons pub I have ever been in. the beer was awful but the attitude of staff absolutely stunk. I had an all day breakfast in there.i only asked if i could have an extra mushroom instead of tomato.the response i got was "no the cook is not in the best of moods". The food was overcooked and naff standard .Sadlers ale was also crap, worst ale I had drank in 2009.

i will take some persuasion to return to the same place.

21 Jun 2010 22:50

The Cavens Arms, Dumfries

I popped in here after watching a football match, I wished I had gone in earlier. An excellent choice of ales on offer, and decent value too. Went down very well indeed. The pub was busy after the footy but seemed a friendly atmosphere. The staff were on the ball to deal with customers and food was being served fairly quick. I couldve stayed in there all night drinking various ales but had to return home via train early. Best pub we went in that day and will no doubt return to it when we have a day out again in Dumfries.
Top notch.

8 Jun 2010 17:12

The Oddfellows Arms, Keswick

Again another rip off pub, overcharging for ale. I noticed that a bottle of cider was 3.85 which is very "Dick Turpin like"
Anyway the pint of Cumberland ale i had was ok,but overpriced at 3.10. My friend ordered Cumberland sausage in a giant Yorkshire pudding with veg, etc. Erm trading standards should have told them not to use that name, the sausage tasted like a Richmond pork sausage, nothing like the real McCoy. A fake,so look out when ordering.

8 Jun 2010 16:10

Bank Tavern, Keswick

3.20 a pint.disgusting rip off and shameful.
As a local West Cumbrian this was my first stop. After paying 1.20 for a nice Jennings ale at the spoons in Workington, this was a shocker to be charged 2 more for the same. Something is wrong.......its called KESWICK PUBS LOVE TO RIP THE TOURISTS OFF,AND ARE NOT FUSSED ABOUT THE LOCALS
Wont be rushing back there in a hurry for any ale.I begrudge paying that kind of price. It is blooming cheaper in London
Having said the pub seemed ok and the ale I had was served well.I would rate it higher but pricing is an important factor for me

8 Jun 2010 16:05

Lake Road Inn, Keswick

A Robinsons pub so sampled some of their own ale, which was fine. Sat in the beer garden due to being hot, plenty of folk around. Again I am critical of the pricing of ale 3.05 for Unicorn is way too steep. Did not eat any food on my visit

8 Jun 2010 15:55

Dog and Gun, Keswick

Being a local West Cumbrian, myself and a mate ventured into Keswick. This was a small pub but busy, had a cracking smell of grub on entering. The ale was delightful, the down side it was 2.90 a pint which is dear..but cheaper (if you can say that) than the other pubs we went to in Keswick. Local Keswick ale was perfect plus the Hawkshead gold. Didnt have any food but saw some visitors happily enjoying their grub.Wish I had done though
Would go back, but like all pubs in Keswick, they need to sort out a more reasonable pricing structure

8 Jun 2010 15:52

Woodrow Wilsons, Carlisle

Best place to go in Carlisle for real ale, always a good selection on with Cumbrian breweries used. food is usual spoons stuff.

5 Jun 2010 00:10

The Plough Inn, Far Forest

I had the best ever pub lunch here on several occasions, absolutely top notch carvery, with different meats and trimmings.
I also have had a good value ,well presented 3 course meal there in weekdays.I have no complaints what so ever apart from maybe the ale was a bit pricey, but yet very nice choice of local beers. A nice clean pub which caters for everyone.
I recommend it if you are travelling in the are on the Whropshire,Worcestshire border

4 Jun 2010 23:14

The Rose of Denmark, Charlton

Went in this pub just before I attended a football match, The service was very quick and staff on the ball, maximising their custom,The quickest service i have ever seen pulling pints. The ale i had was Fullers London Pride, but they had a couple more ales on pump. The surrounding were nowt special,it just had a cracking atmosphere with fans chatting away.

Recomended for away fans wanting a few pints before visiting the valley

4 Jun 2010 16:35

The Charlton Arms, Ludlow

I used to live in Ludlow and went in this pub on several occasions. A classic old fashioned pub with added parts to it making it stand out from the rest. The new balcony area is excellent and has stunning views across the rest of Ludlow. The function room is very cosy and has an outside area looking over the river. Great for summer evenings.Inside there is both a snug area and a posh eating area as well as pub meals I would also say that they serve the best pints in Ludlow, Ludlow gold was my favourite to drink ,also Hobson was always on handpumps too. They also had a good real cider on now and again,I heard it went down well. Staff were friendly and willing to have a crack.

If you ever visit Ludlow this pub is a must,It is one of my favourite pubs i have ever been in. top notch
