Lewes Arms, Lewes

Dropped in for lunch, Harvey's was fine , Sunday roast HUGE ! 8.95 for roast belly of pork and endless veg ! Slab of pork, roast potatoes , carrots, squash, beetroot, swede mash, curly kale, yorkshires, stuffing , apple sauce , gravy, heart attack.

The Old Kings Head, Hoxton

Disaster ! Half of Hoxton and Shoreditch have found this place ! Proper pub. Doombar is always fine , usually another bitter on pump as well. Cheap ! Mush more reasonable than the nearby Fox and Windmill and none of that gourmet / gastro nonsense, proper pub grub either. Fish finger sandwiches, lasagne /chips, ham , egg and chips 5 - Done ! Specials 6 , Scampi or fish and chips. Fantastic bloomer bread sandwiches 2 or 3, you just can't beat it. Damn them neighbours finding the OKH , bugger off it's ours we were here first !

The Green Man, Wembley

Last dropped in before the Team GB game the other Sunday, plenty of staff , but not much change out of a tenner for a bottle of Becks and a pint of Carlsberg ! Grub was fine. The most useful thing about this place is that it is there in the first place, nothing to write home about about but we have all been to far worse establishments.

The Fox, Old Street

Doombar, Harveys Sussex and Otter (sometimes) ....all good.
Pub often packed by all the local workers who don't fancy paying even more inflated prices at the Windmill or happy hour rates at the Old Kings Head or Watermark...

The Bailey, Highbury

The horror .... must admit it's been a couple of years since I've been in here and the bland magnolia sparse refurb / paint job has done nothing to endear it any passing drinker.
On a quiet Saturday night as Arsenal were playing away next day, there were all of 6 people in there, doubled by me and my mates turning up to watch evening game and pre Garage gig beers.... Footie , no commentary from the one screen and bland as the paintwork bland music blaring out around the pub and the Doombar was tooooooooo cold... at least there was no trouble getting served !

The Dragon, Hoxton

CLOSED ! Well it's now a big hole in the ground with a tower block of some description being built !

The Fox, Old Street

Fox shut a couple of weeks ago, owner sold up and it is being re-furbished into a.n.other gastro pub .... don't know when it is supposed to re-open.

The Heeltap and Bumper, Broadgate

This is not a pub ! Changed it's name to Vinum and is now more of a restaurant, although there's the comfy sofas to slob out on for bar food, wine and beer. Draught Heineken and Amstel, bottled beers such as Budvar etc and a strong Cornish bottled bitter to chew over. If you are on expenses and not in a hurry the food is very good ! I'd recommend the Duck cassoulet and the lavender cheesecake with chocolate sauce.

The Fox and Pheasant, Fulham

Good pub, beer good and friendly crowd and staff. Match days it can be packed before the game, after the game as well but the landlord has now started to keep the post match numbers under control by handing out 'Access' tickets to the regulars and known faces. So if you turn up on spec after a game you might not get in. Away fans are allowed but you are not likely to see certain teams entertained like Spurs & Arsenal, and the boss doesn't like Everton as he's had problems with them before.

The Famous Cock Tavern, Islington

In here last Saturday 17th Sept. before going to the Garage across the road, bought a pint of Adnams for my mate Gav. Pint didn't clear, a bit cloudy and tasted not great. Politely asked the staff who palmed us off onto the manager for a fresh pint and/or her opinion of the pint. No change here, barrel had just been changed and she would not stop to taste the pint or give a fresh one and just ignored us. Tried to talk to her when she was clearing glasess from tables, shrugged off and told that she wouldn't listen. Pint dutifully poured over the floor as we left.... Crap pub.
