The Wheatsheaf, Fitzrovia

Very good pub in an area filled with very bland pubs. It is unpretentious and has retained some character - the upstairs room is all wooden panels and stained glass. They keep a couple of decent beers too. Well worth a visit to get away from the mayhem of Tottenham Court Road and Oxford Street.

The Nags Head, Great Malvern

An excellent pub, well worth a visit: good range of guest ales and great food, a step above the average gastro pub. A series of separate rooms makes for a cosy, warren-like layout. We visited during the Christmas break so the place was very busy with a mixed crowd of young and old. Service was amiable and professional.

The Edinburgh, Liverpool

"The Bug" is a Crosby legend, a proper local and very friendly.

Stamps Bistro, Crosby

Reasonably priced cafe-bar. Not much atmosphere.

The Anglesea Arms, Hammersmith

Suberb food - the dining area is very popular and you can't reserve a table so the bar area can be packed with hungry patrons at times. Great place to meet and chat as there is no annoying music in the background. Excellent wine too. Beer is a bit limited.

The Defector's Weld, Shepherds Bush

The only decent pub on Shepherds Bush Green, and excellent food.

Ginglik, Shepherds Bush

I WANT this to be a great place, but it does lack something - it feels like a student union bar with its quirky decor, kitschy video game machines and Bruce Lee theme. I think they're trying a bit too hard...

The Goldhawk, Shepherds Bush

Good pub food, drinks are pricey but a good selection. Very laid back atmosphere and excellent staff, unlike the chain pubs nearer the Green.

QPR fans do come here on match days but it tends to be families rather than disenfrachised youth...I don't know what anonymous's definition of a rough crowd is, but this is my local and I've never seen any trouble.

The Stinging Nettle, Shepherds Bush

Two things going in its favour: it has a licence until 12 and it's quite a civilised place to watch football, if you like that sort of thing.
