The Spread Eagle, Camden

I popped into this pub with a couple of friends just before Xmas prior to going to the Electric Ballroom. We each tried the Young's ordinary, special and Bombardier and found they had a peculiar (metallic?) aftertaste. This spolit what would have been a pleasant visit to one of my old "haunts". Perhaps the pipes needed cleaning?

The Shaston Arms, Soho

Very pleasant pub just off Carnanby Street that does a nice pint of Badger's. Can get quite busy but service is good.

The Joiners Arms, Denmark Hill

I am pleased to say that this pub now sells beer. Old Speckled Hen was pretty good whilst Courage best was passable.

The Royal Oak, Borough

A real pub with real ale. Worth going out of your way to give this one a visit.

The Constitution, Pimlico

Went to this pub recently with friends to watch England in the footy. This is a nice looking nautically themed pub. Service was good even though it was packed. I suspect they had extra staff on. Of the three real ales on offer we considered two were on the turn and the other ran out. Friendly enough pub but as a real ale drinker I would not go out of my way to return to this pub. Perhaps it was just an off day!

The Pineapple, Kentish Town

Visited this pub with some friends on a pub crawl last Friday. Simon is a very welcoming Landlord and the pub is a real Victorian gem with outside seating at the back. 5 real ales were in tip top condition. I would happily visit this pub again when next in the area. Highly recommended!

The Joiners Arms, Denmark Hill

A friendly local pub with some real character. Has all the sports channels. A real shame it does not sell real ale.

The Maypole Inn, Long Preston

I visited this pub one lunchtime last year whilst staying nearby. This is a really nice unspoilt pub which I wish I had in London. The Timothy Taylor's landlord was in tip top condition. Liked this pub so much that I am staying there later this year.

The Compton Arms, Islington

I went here last night with a couple of friends before going to a gig at Relentless Garage. It is in a quite side street. It has the ambience of a country oub which I like. It was a shame that one of the beers ran out shortly after we arrived. They served short pints which were topped up when asked but we found that very irritating especially as it is 3.50 a pint. I would visit again if in the area but would not go out of my way to do so.

The Lambeth Walk, Lambeth

Thankfully this pub is now closed.

The Trinity Arms, Brixton

This pub has changed little over the years and all the better for it. A nice friendly pub with well kept beer. I would rate this as the best pub in Brixton.

The Windmill on the Common, Clapham Common

This was one of the first pubs I ever drank when it used to be a Victorian pub with great character. It has now been gutted and is absolutely awful totally lacking in atmosphere. Poor service and overpriced beer in plastic glasses.

The Stage Door, Waterloo

I am surprised by Makavelli's comments below. I am a regular visitor to this pub and have never experienced any racist comments from the manager or his staff. I find the comment even more surprising as the manager and most of the staff are aussies. This is a friendly pub and a great place to watch sports. I have to agree that sometimes the beer quality is not what it could be.
