this pub now also runs as a pretty decent Indian restaurant, one room set aside to diners, but most opting to sup a pint at the (unchanged bar) while waiting for take outs. seems to have a succession of changing, incompetent bar maids. adnams on tap.

Unfortunately I think L'Oasis has closed! which is a real shame and it will be missed.

Good food, friendly hosts, decent wine, Adnams on tap, yes could do with a lick of paint but that adds to the character. And entirely non-smoking, ahead of 1/7 which is great too.

The Hoop and Grapes, Aldgate
best pub in the area, friendly landlord. interior sympathetically renovated. free sausage samples on bar in early evening - sausage and mash (choice of sausages) highly recommended!
