disapointing. My visit was similar to BobOs'

The New Rose, Islington

currently my favourite islington pub. Went last night - great atmosphere. good staff. tried all three ales which were all excellent and from small breweries.

Zero Degrees, Blackheath

v good pizza. we did the 6 beer taster for 2.50. Amazing value. The pale ale was best. Black lager's not at all bad either. Of the specials, the german beer tasted of smoked sausages - not right - and the smoked orange beer was like cigarettes - not good either. would go back for the food rather than the beer.

The Risley Park, Risley

Food was decent but not cheap. Service is mixed. We were charged 9.48 at the Risley Pk for a pint of Bass and a Baileys and when I queried this was told it was not a mistake. To compare, the hotel charged around 6.50 for the same round later on. If you are staying at the Risley Hall I recommend you eat and drink at the hotel (excellent food and attractive surroundings) and take a trip into Breaston (Navigation and Bulls Head) or Stanton (Chequers and Stanhope Arms) if you want a change of surroundings later on.

The Little House, Tooting

totally agree with these coments. Strange little pub, v friendly and i will be back, though I'd recommend sitting in the public bar rather than the saloon if you want to get a proper feel for the place.

The Gorringe Park, Tooting

Not really into Youngs beers - why don't they allow guest ales in their pubs? - but a pleasant local boozer and I will be back to try the keenly priced sunday roast.

The Railway Bell, Tooting

I went here recently to see some of the championship play off final. V cheap Pride which tasted fine but I did not feel welcome, either by the sour-faced bar lady or the generally grotty appearance and atmosphere of the place. I finished my pint and went over the road to the Gorringe Park. Much better.

The Ramble Inn, Tooting

totally agree with views and observations below. I have known this place for 10 years and its always been excellent. Rare for the window table to be available - if you want it go v early!

Uisge Beatha, Glasgow

Smaller and more gloomy than their website lead me to expect. Beer was just okay but the whisky was a bit mind-blowing to be fair. The rest of the lads seemed to like it but I won't rush back myself.

The Bunker Bar, Glasgow

A good modern lager and music bar. I was there last Saturday for a stag do. As good as we remembered from our last Glasgow visit 5 years ago. And no-one stopped us sitting out front in the sun with our beers, in contravention of the silly signage.

The Horseshoe Bar, Glasgow

This place and the Toby Jug were far too rammed last Saturday - probably had a lot to do with all the extra folk in town for the marches. Will have to go back to admire the decor when its not so packed.

The Doublet Bar, Glasgow

great pint of IPA and friendly folk of all ages. What's not to like?

The Pot Still, Glasgow

A chilled-out little oasis in the middle of the city. My favourite Glasgow pub.
