The Coco Lounge, Nottingham

This place was vile! Rude barman who looked at us like we shouldn't have dared entering his bar - about 6 people in the whole place on the Thursday before easter, huge leather pretentious sofa and for some reason they have rocks in the sinks of the ladies toilets?!? Drank our drinks very quickly then headed off anywhere else...

Revolution, Nottingham

Really great atmoshere when we went in, and the vodka shots were good fun. They also have a heated smoking area, which was a bonus.

Cape, Nottingham

Was here on a visit to Nottingham just before easter. Really friendly staff and although we didn't eat, the pizzas looked huge. And they sell Hoegarrden. Lurvely...

The Crown, Worcester

I like this place. It's a lloyds so as long as you don't expect much more than average food and beer, you can't go wrong really. Staff seem friendly most of the time - although the bar always sees really busy - maybe they should consider employing some more people so you don't have to wait so long???

Ye Olde Seven Stars, Kidderminster

One of the better places to drink in Kidderminster. Heating outside, and the bring your own food idea is a really good one.

The Crown and Castle, Warwick

Went there a few weeks ago - after realising the had tables outside for us few remaining smokers. (although the tables seemed to be quite close to the car park). Took ages to get served both times we went to the bar - and the beer was overpriced, however, the food was delicious. The garlic mushrooms with bacon, cream sauce and crutons were the best I have ever tasted. Would definately go back just for them alone. 5/10 for the beer/service - 9/10 for the food.

The Red Man, Kidderminster

Would be good if they ever actually had Hoegarrden. The last 3 times I have been in they say they've ran out...well, how about actually buying some, or having the pump taken away - cus at the moment it looks like it's there mostly for show.....

The Hobgoblin, Marylebone

Came back a couple of weeks ago and tried the Thai food. Was gorgeous.
All beers were available, and the staff were still friendly. People were sitting outside in the sun - what better way to spend an afternoon eh!

The Victoria and Albert, Marylebone Station

I agree with a previous poster. this place is shocking.

Unless your train is due in ten minutes, and you enjoy the smell of Burger King with your pint, please leave the station, turn left then left again, and go for a pint at the hobgoblin...

Penny Black, Kidderminster

Met up with a couple of friends in there last Saturday. Nothing has changed since my last post - other than that I didn't dare order anything to eat.
The main problem seems to be that they never have enough staff - hence the large amount of glasses/full ashtrays/sticky tables at 5.30 in the afternoon!

They also open at 9am for Kidderminsters finest class of pisshead.

Just because the place is reasonably priced for Kiddy (i.e cheap) does not give it the excuse to be dirty, smell and generally sh*te. Or maybe it does?

The Hobgoblin, Marylebone

Wonderful little pub - found by accident last Saturday. Friendly bar staff, food looked excellent and very well priced, couldn't fault at all. AND they serve hoegarrden (all be it at 4 a pint, but worth it). Ladies toilet looked like it had been refurbed recently.

Will definatly be using next time I am in the area.

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

Can't decide if I really like this place, or really hate it...went in on Friday night and the place just felt really disjointed. Really busy, and I didn't realise they served their own version of spirits. Average prices - however I yet again got lost on my way back from the toilet to my table.

The Hogshead, Hemel Hempstead

Didn't they used to serve Hogarrden in here?

The King and Keys, Fleet Street

sputnikski - Are you sure you are talking about the same place? - this pub plays comedy CD's into the toilets, not music. (Which I happen to think is rather entertaining.)

The Curtain's Up, West Kensington

Terrible, Terrible service. Last Saturday night was nowhere near busy and yet it seemed as though we'd all been sprinkling invisible dust on ourselves. The ladies had no toilet roll. When I asked for some, they reached behind the bar and handed me a roll of Andrex (was I supposed to bring it back, I wondered, when I'd finished?) Sinks in ladies were last repaired sometime in the 1970's.

The only redeemable feature was that the lager was only 2.30 a pint. I suppose the management don't feel like they are able to charge any more...

As someone commented earlier, 6 years ago (when I lived in the area), this place was so different. Shame.

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

Pleasantly surprised last Friday when I went in on my own to meet someone. The guy behind the bar (maybe the manager/shift manager) was very friendly to everyone, and the lager didn't taste of cleaning fluid. The other staff were smiling too, which never was trhe case when I drank in there a few years back. Although I didn't eat, I saw people who were and the food looked good. Would definatly sample the food in the future.

They also had about 5 different sports events playing,so there was a lot of choice to pass the time while I was sitting on my own - and a free sports suppliment to read.

This place may be totally different in the evenings, but for a Friday afternoon, I had no problems with it.

The Barley Mow, Mayfair

I don't think I really gave the place a fair review in my last posting...

After ploughing through the tourists at 2pm on a Saturday afternoon I was more than pleased to find a spare table here! Had a really good afternoon - pleasant staff and customers - and were else in the area can you get a double gin & tonic for 3.60? Didn't eat here myself but the food being served looked good. I will try and make this one of my regulars when in the area.

The Plough Inn, Far Forest

Shame that it's a bit out of the way, which means that you have to drive there, but definatly worth a visit for the food alone. Reasonably priced as well and a very welcoming atmosphere. We recently visited on a Thursday lunchtime and the place was really busy - even so, the queue for the carvery wasn't too long, and the selection was fantastic! Can't wait to go back again.

The Mug House Inn, Bewdley

I agree- I work just up the road and find this a lovely, welcoming place to relax after a hard day. the luchtime food is very reasonably priced and the staff have always been friendly when I've visited.

The Boston Arms, Tufnell Park

I agree with Slipperduke - gowever I think that's kind of what gives the place it's charm...

I used to work up the road from here about 5 years ago and it's good to see that not much has changed!

11 Dec 2006 14:22

Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, Fleet Street

Better places in the area for sure....

5 Dec 2006 09:41

The King and Keys, Fleet Street

Well I happen to think it's a lovely place to spend the evening. They have a fine selection of food and changing specials and a really welcoming feeling, uinlike some other places in the area. I've been happy to go in there as a lone female and recently came in with a group of friends who also enjoyed themselves.

And I'm NOT posting anonymously , so I can't get accused of being someone I'm not....

O'Neills, Ealing

Used to work there about 6 years ago - and now I remember why I left! Visited recently and nothings changed. Could be a nice place if someone took the time to give a s*** about it.

23 Aug 2006 15:20

The Harriers Arms, Kidderminster

Ok if you go in when they're showing footy on the big screen - packed when Harriers are at home though.

23 Aug 2006 15:10

The George and Devonshire, Chiswick

Do they still do cheesy chips? That was a definate bonus. Glad to hear it's changed hands - the couple who ran it in 1999 were terribly miserable - and woerking just up the road our company spent a fortune in there!

23 Aug 2006 14:45

The Duke Of York, Chiswick

Used to work up the road - spent many a plesant lunchtime in here. Decent place.

23 Aug 2006 14:41

The Barley Mow, Mayfair

Went on a saturday afternoon a couple of weeks ago - managed to get a table outside and the beer was not that badly priced considering where it's located.

Pleasant enough.

23 Aug 2006 14:30

The Famous 3 Kings (F3K), West Kensington

be interesting to see what's it's like now it's had a re-furb as it wasn't that bad before hand - only major problem was the very s l o w bar staff. 10 minutes for them to make 2 cocktails?

Not bad for a pint as it's next to the tube station, but there's better places in the area.

23 Aug 2006 14:19

Swan, Kidderminster

They sell hogaarden and it's the only place in Kiddy that do - so worth going for that. Decent food too (so much better than going to Yates next door)

23 Aug 2006 14:13

RSVP, Worcester

Went in a couple of weeks ago and was informed they had no lager on tap.

Offered us overpriced bottles so we went round the corner to lloyds instead.

Shame, cus the interior is quite pleasant.

14 Aug 2006 09:12

Penny Black, Kidderminster

This place is TERRIBLE.

Ok, so it's a weatherspoons but you'd still think they'd train their staff on the tricky art of cooking chips.

And when I complain that my hot baguette FILLING is in fact stone cold - it's not wise to put the whole thing in the microwave for 30 seconds so the actual baguette is piping hot.

14 Aug 2006 09:10

The King and Keys, Fleet Street

Well, I stated in my post on 4th may that I would be back and I have!

Visited a week last saturday and had a very pleasant steak salad and my friend had sausage and mash. Excellent portions and still good value for money. Welcoming atmosphere - really don't understand why this place gets negative reviews.

Also - really liked the comedy cd playing in the toilets!)

14 Aug 2006 09:07

The King and Keys, Fleet Street

Went in last Saturday afternoon. Even though the pub was fairly busy, the gentleman behind the bar (perhaps the landlord?) was still friendly and welcoming and the food portions were bigger than expected. The steak and ale pie deserves a special mention. Prices similar to others locally but the choice of background music in here was better than many others in the area.

I will certainly be paying another visit soon.
