The White Horse, Eaton Bray

Nice traditional English pub with a good selection of real ales, well kept. Food is disappointing, service very slow. Portions are small and a lot of dishes are very obviously pre-cooked and microwaved to order. Burnt tidemark on dish a real giveaway! Food prices are high, especially considering the size of the portions, main dishes are around £14-£16 bracket with bland puds at £5.25. Shame.

The Globe Inn, Linslade

Pleasant enough, but pricey. Loos could be freshened up.

If you like a good selection of well kept beers - you will love this pub!

The Boot, Soulbury

2/9/2010. These reviews obviously need an update as I think the pub has changed hands. Talk about a lack of atmosphere, really like drinking in a community hall rather than a pub. Ordered a pint of Black Sheep, completely cloudy and tasting totally off so returned it and was offered alternative which was off too. Then had Greene King which was just passable. I noted neither of the "off" beers were removed from sale.Prices: a pint and a glass of wine 8.35. This is not a nice pub, stay away.

The Red Lion, Bletchley

Still a great place for really well kept beers, with a landlord who knows what he is talking about when it comes to real ale. Last visit he had three ales on and the cider. Changes the beers so often, almost a complete change every visit. Interesting to try all these different beers, but when you find one you particularly like its rather disappointing that it probably wont be on next time!

You are not welcome if not eating!

The Old Red Lion, Great Brickhill

Agree with previous review, if you are not a local, you can wait!

The Three Locks, Stoke Hammond

Uninteresting beers grossly overpriced. Better kept beers available locally for 1 less per pint. Quite outrageous.

Thank God it is being done up. But unless they change all the staff and learn how to cook and keep the place tidy and clean, it will be a waste of money.

Still with 2 real ales, always in excellent condition. Black Sheep seems a fixture now, the other (guest) ale is Directors, but will change presently. Still no food, but worth a visit for excellent beers and pleasant garden.

Still no food, but truly excellent beer, landlord keen as ever. Nice clean presentable pub with great outdoor seating. Does need to do food though, plenty of passing trade from boaters, might be a bit quiet in the winter.

What a dump. Completely run-down, weeds all outside and "flower beds" full of nettles. Don't go near the place.
Noisy music and unhelpful bar staff inside, shambles outside. Food lousy.

The Royal Oak, Withypool

Just been back again, staying in the village for another week. Everything I have said about this pub previously still holds. How on earth they find such excellent staff in such a remote place is quite beyond me. This pub is a gem! and the food is brilliant.

It does get very busy during the shooting and hunting season and can be rather rowdy in Jake's Bar, so book a table in the other bar or in the restaurant.

The Exmoor White Horse Inn, Exford

Agree with the last reviewer. The place was practically empty when I visited, the staff were completely disinterested in serving me, preferred to chat amongst themselves. When I did get a drink it was out of condition. I couldn't wait to get out of the place!

The Royal Oak, Withypool

Stayed in Withypool for a week just after this pub was taken over by the new owners. We ate there every night, the food was fantastic, beer in perfect condition, service brilliant, staff lovely. What a shame it has been through a bad time, but all that is obviously in the past. Going back for another week soon, and hoping to stay over Christmas.
