The Egremont Hotel, Worthing

Visited for the first time having heard it had dramatically improved. A good choice of 6 beers carefully chosen to reflect different styles and strengths. I find Worthing pubs a bit expensive but, this was at the top end of the price range. Nevertheless a good pint (or 3), served in an oversized glass by a friendly young lady. The gentleman behind the bar however (landlord ?) chose to ignore us waiting to be served, choosing to continue his chat to two people he obviously knew instead. Food will apparently be available shortly

The Selden Arms, Worthing

Have been in Worthing a bit recently and am likely to be much more for some time. Used to visit this pub regularly in the late '70s and occasionally since. Still a good pub for beer but looking rather sad inside. Am trying to find a regular drinking venue in the area, sadly because it still has a smell although much less so than in recent years, and because of the 'feel'of the place, it will not be here. A great shame as the beer is in good condition and served at the correct temperature.

The Richard Cobden, Worthing

Visited again last month after an absence of about 4 years. Nothing much changed inside. Was a fairly busy Sunday lunchtime with people waiting for the raffle. Beer choice disappointingly poor for a CAMRA good beer guide pub. 4 beers on arrival shortly went down to 3 with the barman stating it would be 2 shortly. Left only with a choice of Adnams or greene King and no prospect of the other pumps having other beers put on so we left and went elsewhere

The Crown, Seaford

visited again last week when back in Seaford. An excellent pint (or 4) of Hophead at a very reasonable £3 per pint. Harveys Best also on but didn't try on this occasion. Pub was lively and well under control by the bar staff. Certainly now one of the better pubs in Seaford.

The Old Plough, Seaford

I recently visited this pub again having not been to it for some while, I usually use the Wellington but I noticed the Plough is now in the 2014 edition of the Camra Good Beer Guide. Very sad to say it certainly has not improved. I asked the bar staff for descriptions of a couple of the beers on offer ( such as light or dark ) and was just stared at as though I was speaking martian !. Opted therefore for a pint of Harveys Best, which quite honestly was one of the worst pints of this I have had in a long time. It was stale in the barrel and had obviously been on for several days, it was also far too warm so I guess no cellar temperature control. I didn't finish it and the following night went back to the Wellington. 10 very well kept beers at the correct temp. How the Plough is in the GBG and yet the Wellington isn't I fail to understand.

Berry, Walmer

Since my original review in July 2009, I try to visit this pub as often as possible when in the Deal/Walmer area. I have seen the pub grow to its present offering of 10 real ales and 5 ciders collecting numerous very well deserved Camra awards along the way. I was saddened to read the last report as I believe I may well have been there on the same day and possibly at the same time. I too was advised the beer from what I think was the medieval brewery was a little hazy but, I actually tried it. It tasted absolutely fine, it was in very good condition and temperature perfect. Many other people were drinking it too. I also tried a number of the ales on offer, none were murky a very slight haze maybe on one but again condition excellent, the beer fresh and all at obviously a cellar controlled temperature. This pub excels in trying the unusual, the hard to get hold of, and very new brewery offerings. To criticise the pub is, I feel, very unfair as they obviously take great pride in looking after their beer and if there were any perceived shortcomings, this is really down to the brewery concerned many of which are often very small fledgling operations
