The Longboat Hotel, Penzance

Busy pub with sport on the telly, good selection of beer (about 5 reals from what I recall), unfortunately the one I chose happened to be on the turn, changed by the landlord (?) once he had checked it himself (and decided it seemed fine).

The Admiral Benbow, Penzance

Yes well what can be said for this unusual gem of a place!
The interior is like narrowboat crossed with the high seas, every inch of spare space has some sort of brightly coloured sea related adournement stuck on or into it, beer tasted great and the music - one of the last albums from Donna Summer played, just happened to be a favorite so ten/ten from me, my little mermaid.

The Red Lion, Liskeard

While stopping in Liskeard over the weekend, my mate had gone on ahead "not many pubs" he said "there is this rough looking place (thats not the word he used) on the way to the B&B but nothing else I have found", needless to say we went in and the rest has already been posted by MarkfromtheMarsh. Nice beer.

The Old Stag, Liskeard

Arrived at Liskeard and exited the station to see this smart looking building which sadly, it appears isn't smart enough as despite new looking 'community pub' signage and clean windows it appears to have closed down. Shame, I was really looking forward to taking a peek inside.

The Prince Of Wales, Newhaven

Part of the South Road terrace, this tile fronted establishment is something of a proper local pub, dog friendly and Harvey's on tap it's worth a look!

The Bird in Hand, Croydon

No beer on pumps but they do do spitfire in bottles (kept in the fridge but they will lift one out for later if asked).

Not sure about calling it a 'lesbo pub' as they welcome us boys too... probably not an old mans sort of booza tho.

What's important is it's got punters and the front door opens :)

The Watermill Inn, Burgess Hill

Proper local pub, a touch of the ole plywood spoils the bar a bit but a great place non the less. As previous poster - Friendly staff, a good choice of ale, and yes, they ran out of Harveys too!

PUMPS - Harvey's, Wye Valley HPA, Abbott and Thatchers too.

Well reccommended!

The Station Inn, Whitby

Great little pub who had a good selection of craven ales (mid Sept) - Copper Dragon and Timmy Taylors were the two I tried... top marks!

The Boars Head, Long Preston

Brilliant Pub, Interesting food (Served all week), Good selection of Ale, Dog friendly, Locals pub, Very friendly and welcoming staff - Recently reopened with local owners this place deserves to do well!!!

The Jolly Farmers, Purley

One of those pubs you think twice about going in but once settled you realise it was a good decision made - Youngs and London Pride ale on offer (possibly one more but it had been a long afternoon), both well kept made all the better by the warm welcome from staff.

The Rectory, Purley

An enjoyable afternoon spent in this establishment - Good selection of ale (A Westerham brew was my tipple), well kept and served by friendly staff.

Four Marys, Linlithgow

Good selection of beer including the finest offerings from Belhaven (It is a Belhaven Pub, afterall).
Food and Bar intergration wasn't brilliant after waiting about 20 minutes for a table, the barman then told us our table was ready, unfortunately the restaurant staff didn't "have you booked, sorry - no chance of food tonight", thankfully for us starving chaps the bar chap sorted a table out for us. 10 OUT OF 10 for the beer though.

The Stag, Victoria

Nice place to drink, always friendly, but there's no beer :( Unless you include 'Smiths' as beer. LOL

11 Feb 2011 05:17

The Stage Door, Victoria

Ale always drinkable, Gets a little too busy at times but there's enough choice nearby if it is a bit clostro. Worth a look!

The Mitre, Knaresborough

Exellent Place! Good beer, Good selection of Beer, Friendly and Enthusiastic staff and DOG FRIENDLY too...
Down side - dangerously close to the station, I'm gonna have to visit again as I completely missed the town due to thrst.

The Old Station Inn, Giggleswick

OPEN AGAIN renamed/refurbished now "The Craven Arms"

The Railway Hotel, Honley

Still no real Ale although the pumps are still insitu, Smiths became available sometime during the evening as did free food - we were welcomed to a village party - a very friendly place.

Jacobs Well, Honley

Friendly staff, Good choice of Ale on hand pump (x3) and although the pub down the road had a party on, there was a steady flow of punters through the evening.

The Dalesman, Denby Dale

Quiet bar with Pool table (50p) and TV, Cask ale unavailable when we called but a farourable alternative was on tap. Indian restaurant between the pub and the station and possibly more in the town.... Denby Dale station was only 10 minutes walk (no where near the 2.3 miles shown) - Just don't go through the subway when you leave the platform (2 x exits).

21 Jan 2009 00:05

The Globe, Sheffield

A pub with no beer - The Stones (hand pump) expired just as I arrived and the alternative on tap had run dry.... To top it off the Jukebox didn't even have Mouldy Old Dough! Great if yer a student tho.

The Oxford Bar, Edinburgh

Woh! What a place, I could spoil your first visit by telling you about the bar - like nothing I have ever seen before. Good choice of beer and you can even get a pie for little over a quid at lunch time. Not for those who like to live it up, but for the atmosphere of a real local - Unmissable!

The Old Station Inn, Giggleswick

Absoloutely fantastic food, Great choice of Ale - Hand pumps and Dog friendly. Sadly me Mum (who's more local than me) reports it has closed, Hopefully not for long tho, PLEASE!
One drawback I did notice - It opened 15 minutes after the train arrives from Leeds, how many of those who walk home (1 mile to the edge of Settle) would have called in for a quick pint first....?

20 Jan 2009 23:46

The Ark Inn, Newhaven

Young staff always friendly, good ale - Never let me down, Quirky interior, a good stop especially when the rain comes while out with the dog and not a thosand miles from town either!

20 Jan 2009 23:41

The Hope Inn, Newhaven

All comments still stand - Great food, Dog friendly and a very warm welcome! Usually has Harveys and London Pride on the pumps as well as a fair selection of Lager and the reglar second choice Smiths, too!
