The Four In Hand, Didsbury

Nice friendly pub, no faffing. Even get your fifth Stella free (hard to to remember your special card by that point though)!

The Metropolitan, Didsbury

Hmmm...dissappointing to say the least. Overpriced and with little to no atmosphere. I found this sadly pretentious and it is not the kind of place you would go if you are interested in getting a decent, reasonably priced pint and a bag of crisps that don't cost near to 1 a bag!

The Woodstock, Didsbury

Good for beers only, and even then don't expect to be waiting anything less than 10 minutes on a quiet day. Beer garden is the only redeeming feature really, which is a shame as has so much potential.

The Red Lion, Withington

Fantastic pub. Can get rammed when the footie's on but can still find enough room to stand and watch the game, even after arriving at half time. Nice food, good choice of beer, very chilled atmosphere and not overrun with students! Staff really friendly (and I have to agree with Mostin and Scootini83 - hot guy with dreads behind the bar = added bonus)!

Fuel Bar, Withington

Great veggie food and choice of some interesting fruity beers as well as the usual lagers. One of the only places where you can get different and interesting non alcoholic drinks too. Lovely atmosphere, cosy and friendly and the opportunity to catch some live music too. Brill!

The Bridge Tavern, Holmbridge

Friendly enough pub with few good ales. The guy at the bar offered to make us food even though he was on his own and the kitchen was shut, which was lovely. However, BIG downside was on turning round to sit down we caught the pub dog relieving itself against a chair in what appeared to be the main area for dining. Really not acceptable for somewhere that serves food, especially as it did not look like a rare occurrence as one of our bags ended up in a similar dubious puddle on the floor. Needless to say stayed for one very quick drink and made a sharp exit. Such a shame too, as apart from that the pub was nice and the people great, but sitting in a puddle of dog urine is not how I want to drink a pint!

The Fleece Inn, Holme

Lovely pub, welcoming for families and in a great "passing through" location. Not a huge drinking pub, it did seem to focus more on food and the dining area was full when we arrived, although we didn't have to wait too long and the dishes of sweets at the bar kept the kids occupied! Food superb; limited vegetarian options but what there was on offer was delicious and I was reliably informed that the pie of the day was amazing! Very nice all round.
