Goose At The Bank, Grantham

Yes, service can be poor. However, as an ex pub manager, anyone who treated my staff as someone who had their wages paid by that punter desrves to be barred!

Stag, Barkston, Grantham

Village 'local' with decent beer and food.

Gap Inn, Muston

Large and soulless. Visit for very cheap and quite decent 'pub grub' but drink elsewhere.

The Packhorse Inn, Sleaford

Clean and friendly pub with the usual Weatherspoon decent beer and acceptable food. Unfortunately, too often appears to have been adopted as a creche by the local single mothers.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Newark

Opposite the interesting church (see it, to believe it..). Welcoming enough, and makes extra efforts for angling parties, etc., but rather too food orientated.

The Royal Oak, Newark

Pick of the 3 pubs in the village. Friendly welcome, decent beer and inexpensive but good 'pub grub'. Large family friendly garden with extensive covered smoking area (it matters to me!)

The Manners Arms, Grantham

Expensive, but probably worth it. Decent beer, good food, pleasant ambience and a lovely garden.

The Chequers, Woolsthorpe-by-Belvoir

Pleasant pub with nice garden. Decent beer and good food. Pricey, though.

The Welby Arms, Allington

Unfriendly village 'local' with pricey food.

Crown and Anchor Inn, Welby

Used to be a village pub. Unfortunately, now more interested in indifferent and over-priced food. Pleasant enough, if you like that sort of thing.

Hare and Hounds, Fulbeck

Probably the most unfriendly pub in the area.

Peacock Inn, Redmile

A rarity. Hotel/good restaurant in a very pleasant location, yet still manages to be a 'proper' pub too. Recommended.

The Gregory, Harlaxton

Used to be a pleasant village pub, now far too pretensious.

Odd House, Grantham

One minute a pleasant 'local', the next a foul mouthed 'chav' haunt. Near station, if you're feeling brave...

Tollemache Inn, Grantham

Decent beer, poor service and not particularly cheap.

The Beehive, Grantham

Nice 'local'.

Goose At The Bank, Grantham

Cheap, large 'chain' pub. Usually a couple of real ales but geared to lager drinkers (6 different at last count!). Food ok, depending on who's in the kitchen. Staff generally friendly, but a couple leave much to be desired. Slow service, but better than the nearby Weatherspoons. Are better pubs in town...

The Shirley Inn, Shirley

Once the most 'upmarket' of pubs in the area (thanks Stan and Phyllis), a succession of poor managers has turned this into a place that Vicky Pollard would frequent, and be made welcome. Trult dreadful!
