The Kings Head, Little Marlow

Had only been to the Queens Head down the road before for Subday lunch so gave this pub a try after a long walk. Really welcoming staff and was impressed with the cosy bar. Was really busy on a Friday lunchtime. Had a lovely roaring fire and was nice to see this old pub was very traditional and unspoilt inside. Had a pint of Rebellion Roast Nuts which was great. Had a light lunch which was also great and very reasonable - toasted baguette with Cumberland sausage and fried egg. This pub is probably a bit overlooked as off the beaten track and possibly overshadowed by it's more foodie neighbour. To sum up a great traditional pub with a very friendly atmosphere. Will definately be back

The Ferry, Cookham

Lovely location by river. Was spoilt by rude and unprofessional staff. One of our party advised our waiter that his fish was cold, the waiter said he would stick it in the microwave to warm through! We complained only to be told they were very busy (it was hardly packed) and mistakes happen. Food definately not up to scratch and staff need training or replacement. Will stick to the nicer pubs in Cookham village.

Kings Arms, Cookham

Just moved to the area. Went for Sunday lunch. Nice on the outside but a bit Argos meets Footballers Wives inside. Wines were quite good and usual modern selection of beers. Soup was good and seemed home made. Sunday roast was average with soggy veg. Seemed quite busy , mainly with families and couples. Not sure who the place is aimed at. Distinctly OK.

Belvedere, Acton

A nice addition to Acton. It was a mixed crowd not just Poles even though this is the first Polish themed pub by a large chain. Okocim on draft plus many other bottled Polish beer including potent Brok. Vodka cocktails and modern if slightly Homebase interior. The Polish food was so so but plenty of usual pub food on offer.

The Southern Cross, Acton

Now the Belvedere. London's first full-time polish pub run by a large chain. Nicely kitted out in a modern way. Nice bar service. They have Okocim on draft and a selection of other Polish beers but only in bottles. Plenty of Polish vodka's on offer. Wide ranging food menu but the Polish selection is limited and on a blackboard rather than part of the main menu.
Mixed crowd and a nice local for Acton. Open late at weekends

The George And Dragon, Acton

The pub has had a great refurb. The back bar is large and airy plus it's non-smoking. Nice selection of beers and overall nicely kitted out. Haven't tried the food yet but this is probably the best High Street pub in W3.

The Crown and Sceptre, Shepherds Bush

Nice place that still hasn't been too 'gastrofied' despite the excellent menu. Decent beer & wine but the food service can be a bit slow. Nice place off the beaten track in W12.

The Six Bells, Acton

Nice old 'real pub'. Went on a Friday night once & they had live Irish music. It's a laugh even though the pub ain't particularly modern or stylish. Plenty of elderly Irish women who pull you up to dance . they do food but never eaten there, trad stuff like boiled bacon, Sunday roasts etc.

The Red Lion and Pineapple, Acton

Decent large pub with typical Weatherspoon features. Non smoking area and pleasant (heated) garden area. Good mix of people & usually quite busy.

The Rocket, Acton

Love this place. Laid back bo-ho feel and nicely laid out bar area. Mixed crowd and friendly atmosphere. The restaurant is excellent plus weekday lunchtimes they offer a 6 lunch which has some nice items on it. Currently this must be Acton's best pub (also lacking in antipodeans ! only joking .....)

The Churchfield, Acton

Nice relaxed downstairs bar and excellent courtyard at front, great in the summer. Nice old railway building which has been nicely done out. The upstairs restaurant is great with modern European food and good service.
