The Star Inn, Lingfield

Finally experienced the culinary 'delights' of The Star today.
What a disappointment.
Very ordinary burger and chips (small portion - exorbitant price)
The pub tries to cater for everyone - tv/radio/pool/live music/food and in so doing does nothing well.
The toilets are an insult to the customer by the way - dirty and smelly.
Only saving grace is that they sell Harvey's - which is available a mile down the road at The Plough in considerably nicer surroundings.

The Star Inn, Lingfield

a much nicer pub now under new management.
good atmosphere and a decent pint of harveys.
i'm told the food is pretty good now as well - it was abysmal under the previous tenancy - will give it a try when i next visit.7/10

Fountain, Cowden

took the missus and two grumpy littl'uns for sunday lunch after a seemingly endless ramble thru' fields and woods.
what a pleasant surprise!
courteous, friendly staff, and a superb lunch - scampi / ham 'n' eggs / cheeseburger.
all standard pub fayre, but well presented and served in hearty sized portions, and all cooked to perfection. (the kids - connoisseurs of chips - munched away merrily!)
the food and drink wasn't the cheapest, but you get what you pay for, and my little team were suitably nourished and ready for the 2 mile trek back to the car.
well worth another visit.

The Rising Sun, East Malling

seems to appeal to local building trade clientele with scant respect for decent beer or social etiquette.
ok if you like watching football on the big screen while being barged into and spat all over by swarthy labourer types
better bet - go to west malling - just NOT the bulls head!

The King and Queen, East Malling

friendly staff.
decent pint of harveys.
reasonable if overpriced food.
dull beer garden.
east malling deserves a better overall offering than this and the 'rough' rising sun up the road.
better off carrying on up the road to west malling - the lobster pot and 5 pointed star beat these 2 establishments by a country mile
