Urban Vine, Rickmansworth

Now a Costa Coffee

30 Nov 2011 12:02

The Britannia, Barking

Very sad to hear this has closed, it was our local when we lived in south Ilford, the best pub for miles around.

The Whip and Collar, Mill End

Went past yesterday, they are due to be reopening on Wednesday 10th November.

The Fox and Hounds, Rickmansworth

Good, friendly place to watch sport, the garden is much improved and pleasant on a sunny night.

The Millhouse Tavern, Rickmansworth

Now unfortunately closed and boarded up.

Metropolitan Bar, Baker Street

Very handy when waiting for a train, always fast service when I've been in and a decent selection of beers. One of the better 'spoons in my opinion. Nice decor as well.

The Carriers Arms, Watlington

Nice place with good garden and views, friendly staff. Decent choice of ales, not too expensive, well worth a visit. Very handy when staying at White Mark Farm campsite.

25 Jul 2008 10:32

The Town Hall Hotel, Richmond

Great reasonably-priced portions at lunchtime. Friendly bar staff.

The Halfway House, Rickmansworth

Live music at the weekends now, quite a good atmosphere.

12 May 2008 13:43

The Bell Inn, Lower Heyford

Excellent food, great portions, very friendly atmosphere. Can't comment on the beer as was driving during my visit.

The Red Lion, Hoddlesden

On a ridge overlooking Darwen with good views of the area. Friendly, good food and extensive menu. Not in our locality, but would visit again if up that way.

The Firecrest, Aylesbury

Stopped for Saturday lunch, was fairly busy but plenty of room. Very cosy with a nice fire. Good food and service. Can't comment on the beer as was driving. Would visit again.

The Fox Inn, Tiddington

Stopped for lunch on Saturday, was pretty quiet. Good food, excellent portions.

Like baggydave, I'm not sure why they have both sides as a restaurant. Could be a bit strange just going for a drink.

Friendly staff, makes a nice alternative to Oxford services.

Metropolitan Bar, Baker Street

Decent for a beer or two on the way home, beer well kept and fast service at the bar. Worth a look for the decor.

6 Sep 2007 14:44

The Star Inn, Alfriston

Nice pub for a drink, but food overpriced and not so great. Friendly staff.

29 Aug 2007 09:10

The Millhouse Tavern, Rickmansworth

Went in on a quiet night, worth a look just for the decor - welcome to Twin Peaks, Hertfordshire.

The Millhouse Tavern, Rickmansworth

Now called Urban Vine, has undergone a refurbishment.

Cock Inn, Church End

Lovely spot for a Sunday lunch, loads of footpaths to walk on nearby. Have had good live music on Sunday afternoons recently. Friendly staff, will be back again.

The Pennsylvanian, Rickmansworth

Further to my previous review, I'd like to say that currently there just aren't enough staff - they are losing custom because people are getting fed up with waiting to be served and walking out; the staff there are fine, we just need more of them!

28 Jul 2007 23:05

The Feathers Public House and Kitchen, Rickmansworth

Food has improved a lot in the last year, definitely worth visiting for food as well as well as ale. Friendly.

4 Jul 2007 12:26

Scotsbridge Mill, Rickmansworth

Has recently reopened after a refurbishment, now looking very swish. Food was quite good, I think they had Landlord as the only bitter. Would visit again.

The Pennsylvanian, Rickmansworth

Great non-smoking pub, friendly staff, busy with people eating but big enough to always get a seat.

The only thing I don't like are the two screens with sky news and subtitles, can't they just turn them on for the rugby/football, etc?

There's a quiz night, I think on Mondays, and the usual good weatherspoons food nights.

Apart from that, I would recommend it to anyone.

5 Apr 2007 14:35

The Black Horse, Chorleywood

Friendly with good atmosphere, nice fire, decent pint of Adnams, will visit again.

23 Nov 2006 17:05

The Britannia, Barking

Haven't been for a while as no longer live in the area, but a wonderful haven - friendly, clean, usually lots of seats, good Youngs beer.

22 Sep 2006 16:43

The Coach and Horses, Rickmansworth

Great restaurant with lovely food. Decent choice of beer, has a lot of atmosphere, seems to be busy most nights. A bit smokey in the bar, but the restaurant is non-smoking.
