The Old Bush Inn, Shrewsbury

Re-opened a few months ago. Has had a lick of paint and some new furniture, but otherwise much the same. Very much an average pub.

The Kings Head, Shrewsbury

Please note - the photo is not the Kings Head - it's the Crown on Abbey Foregate.

The Yorkshire House, Shrewsbury

If you don't like loud rock music don't go here. If you do, do.

I like it.

The Old Bell, Shrewsbury

Renovated around 6 months ago which has totally changed the place. Used to be an old fashioned boozer which I actually quite liked.

Now it's much more open and lighter and has lost a little charm, but the foods not bad and the beer is fine.

As well as the bar, there's a dedicated dining area and patio for unrepentant smokers.

Service can be a little indifferent, ocassionally bordering on unfriendly, but generally OK.

The Hole In The Wall, Shrewsbury

Never been a favourite of mine. In the day its popular with the work shy, of an evening can get very busy.

Food is average, beer is cheap.

Dun Cow, Shrewsbury

Once just about the smokiest pub in Shrewsbury, unfortunately post ban you can smell all the other odours it has to offer.

Saying that it has character, beers OK and if in the area well worth popping in.

Usually shows sport on the TVs and ocassional live music too.

The Beaten Track, Shrewsbury

Chain family pub, focused on average food. Only good for pre/post cinema drink.

Bar Med, Shrewsbury

I've been going to Bar Med on and off since it first opened and it's somewhat sad to see it steadily decline.

It is now in a sorry state of repair - in dire need of redecorating and cleaning up.

The beer is just about the worst in Shrewsbury. The lager on tap is often off ranging from just smelling eggy to tasting awful.

Not a real ale pub at all, but used to be a decent bar/club, now very down on it's luck.

The Abbey, Shrewsbury

Big, bright, clean pub.

Food is reasonable chain standard, tasty, but unremarkable.

I wouldn't go out of my way to visit, but if passing it's worth nipping in for a pint or two.

The Admiral Benbow, Shrewsbury

I am a fan of the Benbow. Wide range of beers and pleasant atmosphere make it a great place for a quiet drink. I believe they operate an over 30's policy which accounts for the older clientele.

The Crown Inn, Shrewsbury

Bit of a dingy local dive. Can't really be recommended unless it starts pouring down as you are walking by.

The Coach and Horses, Shrewsbury

I'm not a regular, but for a quiet pint or a bite to eat this is great. The bar has a decent range of beers and is a bit rough and ready, but I don't think thats a bad thing. The restaurant area is smarter and I can recommend the fidget pie.

Live music some nights.

The Kings Head, Shrewsbury

The last time I went in was about 6 months ago. The landlord was the most miserable so and so you could imagine. We drank up and haven't been back since.

It should be a great boozer, but the grimy interior and unpleasant landlord really let it down.
