Well, back in sunny Baldock yet again. Nice going for a drink around town centre.
Some very nice Ales at The Cock Pub, Ale Fresco pretty nice and very tasty Reverend James, then off for a few more pints up road and a lovely curry!
Still a lovely unpretentious pub with great atmosphere and staff...

Good Abbots and St Edmunds.... very well kept and went down well.
Loved the guest Ales too.... great choice.
This place has the respect and appreciation of a good crowd that only many years of good management can build.
I'm glad I came back to Baldock and popped in to The Cock on my travels round the area.

Thats what I have being trying to say, and indeed have being saying for a while ...
that this should all stop, (and never have started really...)
''it should be about reviews only'', and " about the beer'...and what a great pub The Cock actually is..along with its staff.
'Opinions' and 'banter' are indeed just that! Hence its a review site!
Despite some accusations stating alleged 'facts' and 'opinions'.. i have sought to try and calm and negate it when possible.
However... i do NOT agree with harsh online language aimed at anyone.

I too contacted the web site hosts a while back regarding a m�l�e of accusations and similar 'defamation' of a character in the first instance, and sought a legal 'opinion' on it as it all got a bit much. As of last week I am ina process of feedback with the�representative at 'Beer in the Evening'.
This site should NEVER have being used to cast aspersions or 'get personal'.
After all it is a review site... �

The 'landlord HAS stood by those people who have disgustingly slated him and his pub on this site. They should all be ashamed of them selves.' .... spot on statement.
Attention bypassboy ... It's quite childish to hear 'He has said some naughty things to his customers of late'... sounding like first year school kids now.
Ok..he is no Saint.... but doesn't deserve back stabbing from you...
Lets not forget it was 'brain-bypassboy' plus or aka Rob who started vicious petty mud slinging ....
So - to conclude - it was Rob Schahill who is abhorrent enough to think he can tarnish the Landlord secretly online and get away with it, starting viscous rumors on a review site. Why... who knows!! Perhaps it never was 'about the beer' was it...
... but at least he seems to have hinted that he wants to stop this of late .. so i agree with him there for once.
All I can say is that its a double edge sword and I'd rather see it stop now...as i'm starting to want to hear more about 'drunkards' 'charity beer festival' story ... as i'm sure he would want to hear the others ones... but this could be too public a place to slate people maybe... don't you think!!!
I'd prefer it was just a review site...

The Cock pub is a warn friendly pub, with olde world traditional settings, a great roaring fireplace in in winter, and a cool outdoor and covered garden area for summer.. always busy and very popular.
Friendly staff and owners make it that much more welcoming...
still busy and a fun place to drink... highly rated, respected and busy pub in a busy town.

Hey guys...it's a good old pub... i just go there regular like and have fun with mates n some great drinking nights round town... (Ok..i know that bloke gets a bit drunk sometimes and it can all get a bit embarressing... but dont we all!)
Baldock bloke.. just read reviews n your story.... i do sort of remember you working there a while back.... how ya doin'mate.?
I still say its a great fun pub....
anyway - off to an Ale testting day i go...

Blimey...i drink round HItchin, baldock n Cambs.... i find this all hard to believe!
I like most of the pubs in baldock and have always found them welcoming and friendly...
my fave two..one of them being the Cock. Ive drunk there for years.... a good crowd

Still a great pub, had some great parties there recently and love the award winning IPA and mix of Ales... Ok..as 'baldockblokes' review pointed out - theres been a few trouble makers in recently who got asked to leave....who did swear and cause some issues...but they are all gone...and its back to a cosy fun place to drink with a really solid mix of customers from all ages...
Love it still...best pub in baldock

Great pub, excellent Ales and a nice rich pint of IPA... tastes great and seems to me to be presented in the real manor it should be. (The walls are adorned with awards for top quality ale and beer.... so seems they must be doing something good)
In fact I had some top quality ales there just the other night...
A busy place, yet with a good crowd....
I disagree with previous comments about IPA being thin, or miserable staff.... having being there many times I find it a warm and comfortable place with a great atmosphere, and top landlord and landlady and great . In my travels drinking all around, thats a very special thing to find... a place where you feel like you belong and have great beer.. and a great open fire place
The staff are all good fun and friendly...i give the place a 10/10 for sure.....
I find as a regular around many pubs that the complainers are just not in the pub thats right for them.... when i was younger I wanted loud hectic pub/clubs.... now i want calm cool and traditional pubs with great drinks and atmosphere... The Cock has just this.

Top pub in Baldock to get a good traditional english meal and a pint. Nice steak and pasta, great refurb. Nice place
