Nags Head On The Thames, Abingdon

Visited yesterday and despite being v busy with people out & about in the glorious weather this pub was coping well. Years ago was an old favourite & looks to be well worth a visit. Jazz in the garden wide mix of people nice atmosphere wide choice of beer - Ferrymans Gold was excellent -.
Can't comment on the food but there were plenty of staff on duty & table's were being cleared promptly.
Fingers crossed it keeps its standards up as its a glorious spot.

The Six Bells on the Green, Warborough

Visited here yesterday got to say much better than some previous experiences. Very welcoming hostess + staff Reasonable prices excellent Oxford Gold & good sandwiches which arrived within 10 minutes of ordering Highly recommended.

The Fleur De Lys, Dorchester on Thames

OK pub that is an improvement atmosphere wise on the last time I visited when it did seem to be regulars and the rest.
Beer was fine Loddon Hoppit and Loose Cannon Abingdon Bridge. Food was OK had calves liver which was superb but no vegetables and came adorned with some sort of fritter witha sugar coating!

25 Feb 2013 11:29

The Kings Arms, Oxford

Visited at lunchtime busy but got a table Beer Youngs Bitter was top notch Food simple but reasonable quality arrived within 10 mins of ordering Staff were helpful & as others have said has an excellent atmosphere. Only disappointement were the frankly pretty awful loos which probalbly as a result of being in the basement were terribly smelly.

The Coach and Horses, Wallingford

Was last in here a couple of years ago when the landlord was trying hard top move it a bit up-market Despite doing a decent job he's moved on and pub is struggling Given up on food except for Sunday lunch. Fullers was OK but devoid of atmosphere and all in a bit 'sad' Hope it gets its mojo back asap please.

The Ship, Swanage

Called in on NYD Service was prompt food arrived within 15 mins Ringwood Best was in excellent nick. Busy pub that serves all & though a bit 'chain like' was better than thought it was going to be.

The Bear Inn, North Moreton

Decent enough boozer but def could do with some tlc - bar area needs freshening up & lots of the furniture should have a health hazard symbol on it.
On plus side food was decent and the TTLandlord was superb!

As others have said gives impression that its 'coasting'

The Hare, West Hendred

As of today appears to have closed Hope some one takes it on as its been a super pub

12 Sep 2012 16:55

The Wheatsheaf, East Hendred

Super pub food arrived very quickly not massive portions but v acceptable quality. Great ambience Helpful staff Only issue was limited choice of GK beer IPA is personally a very inferior std bitter though seasonal Conker Bonker was decent shame no guest

The Miners Arms, Whitecroft

A very pleasant inn local to the boss's family so visited for Sunday lunch yesterday. Excellent roast leave plenty of time to do the veg. in partic full justice
Enjoyed very quaffable Wye Brewery Butty Bach - apparently little friend in Taff. Worth a visit off the adjacent heritage railway.

The Five Horseshoes, Maidensgrove

Should be a great pub but its not because the people who run it are so complacent.
Fantastic location nice building decent garden but when 6 of us visited yesterday it was like we did them a favour turning up.
CUSTOMER SERVICE matters wherever & whoever you are.
Reasonable beer( but why no guest beer?) food decent though pricey are fine but RUDE staff are unforgiveable!

29 Jul 2012 19:15

The Birdcage, Thame

Fantastic building being over 650 years old.
Decent beer but expensive at 3:60 pint for Rebellion IPA - which was nicely kept.

9 Jul 2012 09:07

The Red Lion, Swanage

Had pleasure of eating here yesterday Fantastic haddock & chips with superb TT Landlord Helpful staff esp the landlady A gem

2 Jul 2012 13:45

The Broad Face, Abingdon

Decent pint of GK Celebration as it should be at 3:50/pint. Patio area was poor being blighted by noisy chiller compressors that sit in adjacent yard whilst the firniture and whole area need a bloody good clean and tidy up.
All of those are matters that the landlord has control over and the whole demeanour was that the nice location will bring in customers & we don't have to work hard to maintain proper standards.
Shan't be going back till it gets sorted. Disappointing.

25 May 2012 10:09

The Beehive Inn, Cheltenham

Visited here on Sunday - very decent backstreet boozer. Pleasant staff - all ladies - who seemed to be reasonably knowlegable of ale though they were struggling with a lively 'Pride of Oxford ale' & a barrell change for the Gem.
Cheltenham SPA was nicely kept.
Food choice looked promising & ambience of the place is welcoming.
Worth finding.

8 May 2012 10:19

The Ship Inn, Lymington

Visited here yesterday as expected v busy and all in all a decent effort. Service was patchy beer - Youngs was top-notch food was very good Only issue was the lack of staff clearing tables. Def. recommend

Rose and Crown, Brockenhurst

Stayed here this weekend with 2 other couples.
Nice friendly staff decent beer but the food offering needs working on as its bland and formulaic.

A - "B- " when could easily be an A

23 Apr 2012 13:14

The Red Lion, Boldre

Had seen review in GBG so as we were cycling here over weekend paid - what a corker of a pub!
Very surprised to learn others have had service issues as of the 5 staff we dealt with all were helpful depite 6 of us turning up wet & muddy on a busy Sat lunchtime.
Landlord provided samples of guest beer Sunbeam which was excellent Food was very good and we were on the light bites. Arrived quickly and with a smile.

All over a really very good boozer highly recommended by all 6 of us!t

23 Apr 2012 13:10

The Hare, West Hendred

Had the pleasure of visiting here a couple of weeks ago - truly excewllent food - Sunday roasts @ c.12/15 per head as good as your mum's. Friendly helpful staff Good atmosphere decent car-park.
My only gripe is that a a Green King pub the beer choice was v. limited No local ale which is unforgiveable given the wealth of local Oxon beers. Morland original - was local 15 years ago - was nicely kept.
Address the beer issue please and the Hare would be almost perfect!

The Boars Head, Ardington

Called in here last Sunday. Nice interior village & surroundings are great for walking. Decent pint of Village Idiot from local White Horse brewery as it should be at 3:50 ish.
Food prices reflect its up-market feel - this is a pub aimed at well heeled locals not the window cleaner. We had some most agreeable home made sweet potato soup at 5:50 a pop - tadge over priced. Main meals look toppy at 14 a head level but that's their perogative.

All in all a decent pub apart from the agreed poor attitude of the bar staff who need to learn some manners & customer service. Shame as the landlord was a decent fella.

8 Nov 2011 11:29

The Bottle and Glass, Binfield Heath

Visited on BH Monday mid-way through a long circular walk & although things improved was v disappoinrted to be greeted at 1:45pm with comment - " You're lucky we are stopping food in a minute!" Bizarre comment to give to 6 hungry/thirsty customers.

If it had been rammed would have been more understanding but garden was less than half-full & dining room completely empty!

Otherwise a reasonable food offer - though it took 45 mins from ordering.
B'spears Oxford Gold was lovely!

A 4 for service 7 for offering

2 Sep 2011 13:42

The Globe Inn, Wells next the Sea

Visited this on 2 occasions when in Norfolk last week.

Beer excellent and good food if slightly pricy - spicy fried whitebait were excellent!

18 Jul 2011 16:05

The Adam and Eve, Norwich

Nice boozer though clientle of barristers clients & solicitors made the stemming of all conversation as we entered at lunchtime last week a slightly odd reaction akin to that which an 'outsider' get in the sticks.

18 Jul 2011 16:03

The Blue Ball, Kintbury

Visited here having found it via the reviews.
Was very quiet but food was good value & decent beer Pride Pedigree & a Ramsbury special

16 Apr 2011 21:30

The Royal Sovereign, Eastbourne

Watched the rugby here on Saturday evening.
Found pub by accident as was desperate to find somewhere to watch the game. Decent screens and some pleasant locals tho. there were still more than a few Neanderthal's so can understand some of the earlier comments.
Very decent Doom Bar esp. @2:50/pint!
Landlord - Bob? - and staff attentive. A pub on the up hope it keeps improving.
Given a 6 as can't do 5&half!

21 Mar 2011 14:10

The Feathers Hotel, Ledbury

Visited this last Sunday.
Decent atmosphere for lunchtime Food was quite expensive at 16 for roast but it was excellenet.
Hill Climbe from Prescott Ales was exemplary only ommission some Prescott glasses.

7 Feb 2011 16:51

The Pack Horse, Mapledurham

Good solid pub decent food & beer.

Postal address might be Reading but this pub is actually in Oxfordshire.

1 Nov 2010 10:33

The Coachmakers Arms, Wallingford

Ws in here over weekend Oxford Gold was absolutely first rate - like the pub which is a gem. Well Done Roni

28 Sep 2010 12:07

The Bell Inn, Crowmarsh Gifford

Used to go in here often after football in the village.
Revisited last week def seems a cleaned up version of its previous incarnation.
Real ale choice typical GK BUT did have on Conker Bonker seasonal ale which was excellent.
Bell is like Ronseal but it does it well.

28 Sep 2010 12:05

The Volunteer Inn, Lyme Regis

Nice pub decent ale Sharps Coaster but doesn't do food in the evening which was disappointing Nonetheless a good pub though the gents toilet was a throwback to the '70's.

20 Jul 2010 14:30

The Pilot Boat Inn, Lyme Regis

Not really a pub as it is geared totally towards food but decent fish & chips plus very agreeable Palmer Copper

20 Jul 2010 14:27

The Anchor, Seatown

Smashing little boozer tucked away at end of lane with stunning location overlooking Lyme Bay.

20 Jul 2010 14:25

Crosskeys, Wallingford

It and the Coachmakers vie for the title of best pub in the town Both are well worth visiting.

1 Jun 2010 15:02

The Red Lion, Great Malvern

Picture is of the Red Lion in Great Malvern but the description is of somewhere else as we in all in a party of this last weekend found this to be a good little boozer. Decent food and good beer - as it should be at a Marstons pub though no pPedi which was disappointing. Ringwood - Boondoogle was fine as was the Burton bitter.
Did speak briefly to the manager but must be different from the indidual that others here describe. Young bar staff were pleasant if not the quickest and compared to the Unicorn the evening clientele were far nicer to sghare the premises with!

1 Jun 2010 14:58

The Old Post Office, Wallingford

Compared with the George or ...........umm -------- this is the business if you want more than a pub - for that go the excellent Coachmakers.
Decent food nice decor and well kept beers Food is above average.
All round a devent effort only blight the one bad penny in the staff who is an @rse but the others are so good its best to ignore

4 May 2010 15:39

The Porterhouse, Covent Garden

Had a good time in here weekend before last.
Reasonable food an eclectic beer offer but the Thwaites Bomber was excellent My lad eventaully found a lager that he liked from their choice.
All round decent boozer next to the over-priced chains that cluster around CGarden.
