Things have changed since the days of spoons the gents has been refurbed apart from no bolt on the cubicle there is nothing wrong with them and the removal of the rude irishman behind the bar has improved the place not even spoons wanted him all staff except him went over the road he was the last remnant of spoons anyone would think he was there for his own entertainment asked him one night what match was going to be shown he replied celtic cos i want it on pub was nearly empty by half time

The George, Twickenham

recently went there for the man utd/chelsea game atmosphere was brilliant pub was packed like every pub that showed it. And even ran out of glasses and some people had to settle for disgusting plastic glasses (in the afternoon). With reference to the pibull on the roof Angel is the dog in question and never stops barking. Regulary runs out of the cheap beer on a monday its not as bad other posters say nice place to go for a cheap, quiet lunchtime pint in the garden if only angel would shut up apart from that can't think of much wrong with it the management and staff are trying their best.

used to work in here when it was St Germains would have felt safer walking down Beirut high street at the height of the troubles. Bottles reguarly knocked off the optics and this was just the girls who used throw pool balls the bottles and shout about it being a shit pub. Then in the other bar customers helping themselves couldn't wait to leave. Just recently head it has been knocked down and had flats built on it if this true the world has been saved from the scum of this pub if not it sounds quite a civilised place to while away some time

in here now after reading about the soldiers i had my doubts about this shithole of a bar having just seen my mate being asked to remove his cap and prove he was in there already i have decided this has to be avoided like the plague and won't be back

1 of my fave pubs in twickenham never noticed any of the things people moaned about. James the manager is the most helpfull managers around.when he trains a new member of staff he gives them a history of the pub and of fullers he is the longest serving manager i know he's been here about 25-30 years.

D.J. Needs kick up a*** too fond of putting an album on and dissapearing outside to smoke and drink and coming back when last track of album starts. The other night he must have been playing b sides he was going for over an hour before I even recognised a song yet sometimes even with this d.j it is sometimes a good night.service pretty good not too expensive compared to some in Twickenham

read somewhere this year that spurs have actually bought this place to turn in to ticket office/shop. If this right can someone say something confirming or denying this. Only had one experience of this pub and that was about 30 years ago when i went to the rare spurs match i attended and they'd taken all furniture out so not very impressed

The Sussex Arms, Twickenham

haven't been here in about 8 years and anything has to be an improvement, last time I went there I think there was 3 customers in there all 75 or over the landlady thought it would be a good idea to stay where she was talking to the customers already in residence before my arrival. I finished 2 crosswords before she decided to move from the comfort of the fire and serve me. Never again I thought and never again it has been and one has to wonder why she couldn't be bothered to move with pubs closing at a great rate of knots.she was as good as pubfull of average wetherspoon staff. Have spoken to mates who were there on friday day after re- opening and they gave favourable reports will have to have a look soon.

The Dysart, Petersham

had no dealings with this place other than to regulary have emptied the over filled bins.I remember moaning to the then landord of the now defunct Shire Horse in Hounslow about his prices going up for the 3rd time in amonth and what he told me about the prices here was enough to make me make an on the spot decision not to try it out something I have stuck to now for some 14/15 years. He told me all those tears ago a lager a gin and tonic and glass of lemoonade came to close on 15 so how much would that round be now close on 30 I'd bet

The Warren, Hounslow

Sorry to see yet another potentially good pub bite the dust, I remembet going in there one saturday night to watch a late match on the telly was it on? Was it hell just about 20 8 - 10 year olds round the telly screaming at blind date ugh!!

26 Jul 2011 14:06

The Duke of York, Whitton

It wouldn't do any good Hounslow social services raiding it, it is actually in Richmond. Can relate to most of what has been said by others I am amazed it has survived this long walked past it on 5 or 6 nights and there was 3 or 4 people in there despite football being on the telly and they are football mad and this included a Chelsea match normally packed when Chelsea are on telly. At long last it has a chance to make a name for itself being the only pub between the cross lances in hounslow and the swan in hanworth.

The Pottery Arms, Brentford

this used to be the only pub in town open before 7 if Millwall were in town crying shame it has gone even the Millwall supporters who found it to be friendly (police overeaction ) even took my life in my hands and played darts with them more than once!!!

The Albany Arms, Brentford

never found any fault with it on the few visits I have made here a few years ago landlady was a nutter she used to sing to any bloke who was or looked like he was on his own nothing wrong with that you might think tasty bird seranading you but it was painfull

24 Jul 2011 14:03

The Bricklayers Arms, Brentford

sorely missed used to be my first port of call before and after the match was going here on match days for about 20 years the guvnor when I first started using it did his best to ensure it was only home supporters who used it on match days stan bowels used to drink here also saw a number of past and present brentford players in here over the years mixing and enjoying a beer with there public

The Fox, Putney

Have been using this pub for 5 or 6 years now on at least a once weekly basis and never noticed place smelling of piss if I had I wouldn't have been back. Excellent prices for the area fosters, john smiths, strongbow and I think even guiness all under 3 reasonable food all served quickly and eficently recently had refit and renamed Fox and Hounds.

Tiger Tiger, Croydon

been here twice for short while during happy hour(which is 4 hours) excellent value at this time 2 stella and a large vodka and orange for 6 quid but wuldn't stay after happy hour has ended when everything doubles in price. Packed on both times I was there. Might not go back after reading about the soldiers booted out for being in uniform thats 30+ plus they have lost in a couple weeks was going there to meet up on a birthday party before going elsewhere. I think when the birthday girl hears about that venue will change to Milan Bar next door.

The Goose on the Market, Croydon

anyone who thinks service is bad was either unlucky or belongs in one foot in the grave. The blonde manager has now moved on never had anything but perfect service and courtesy from her this is cheap and cheerful it is a pub trying to out wetherspoons, wetherspoons. With their superior prices, service, and food this shouldn't be hard. Though showing signs it might be carlsberg now 5pp than the george. I've been visiting the area for 4 years and try and get in here on every visit.

The Assembly Rooms, Epsom

don't agree with the people who say service is bad this is a spoons with service I recently spent a week in Epsom and found the service to be superb even on Derby day the average wait was 2 minutes. One bar maid was running the length of the bar to get to customers she even had the sense to call a coleague doing ancillary jobs if someone was waiting. Never seen such enthusium in a spoons. Will def be back before I work there again superb
