Eastham Ferry Hotel, Eastham

Maybe a bad day, maybe too early but the Bank's Mild got sent back for resembling vinegar and the Pedigree wasn't much better. My mate ended up on Foster's FFS. Nice toilets though

The White Hart, Brecon

Seems a bit harsh an overall score for this pub (4.2 at the time of review) - it is a lot better than that. A wide range of Welsh ales, rotating well over the two days that I popped in. It isn't the best pub in T-O-U but that isn't their fault. Worth a visit but don't miss the Star though

The Dun Cow, Hornton

Sometimes you just walk into a pub and get the right feeling. Sometimes the selection of ales is spot on. This place ticks both boxes and I'm looking forward to getting back there as soon as

The Fishermans Return, Winterton on Sea

Lovely little pub serving Woodfordes ales. Wasn't too impressed with the homebrew though. Good food if a little bit large on portion size. Enjoyed a game of darts there too

The Red Lion Inn, Crick

I was a bit surprised to see such a low rating for this perfectly reasonable pub. It may keep old fashioned opening times but generally has a decent selection of ales. The pub food is reasonable value too

The New Inn, Buckby Wharf

This is a good drinking pub with a good range of local(ish) ales. Wouldn't know about the food but if you want a pint next to a canal then this isn't bad

The Tower Bank Arms, Sawrey

Excellent pub - landlord may even buy you a pint if you've walked and not added to his parking headaches! Must have had about 9 bitters on in the 3 days we were there & after much consideration the Loweswater Gold gets the nod. Didn't make it to that Beatrix Potter place mind you

The Sportsman's Inn, Cowgill

Very quiet in February but you end up in conversation with the entire pub. Beer is better than in either the Dent boozers. Highlight for me was the selection of bath tubs - ideal for soaking in after a day getting soaked on the hills.

The Fox, Oddington

good food and the one pint I had was well kept

The Horse and Groom Village Inn, Upper Oddington

Some decent beer here - a pleasant place to stay

Spyway Inn, Bridport

Lovely little place. Both the Otter Ale and Bitter were in good nick.

Smugglers Inn, Osmington Mills

It is a lovely little spot and certainly worth popping in for a pint whilst strolling the SWCP but I wouldn't get too excited about the food. We popped in one evening and I wish I hadn't. Maybe I chose badly but ended up with some terrible salmon fusion concoction. Entertaining pub dog

The Stapleton Arms, Gillingham

Food was tremendous and the beer top notch - Northern Star from Moor Beer was the best pint I'd had this summer (had to try several & it goes splendidly with the pies). Room was great too & the staff and ambiance make for a very relaxing stay. I'll be stopping here again when I'm down that way

The White Swan, Swanage

Piddle not at its best. Sat outside even though there was rain in the air

2 Jul 2011 22:26

The Frampton Arms, Moreton

The conservatory made me want to buy a bungalow and take up bowls.

2 Jul 2011 22:22

The Seven Stars Inn, East Burton

portions unnecessary quite frankly. nice fish tank making it all a bit 80's

2 Jul 2011 22:20

The Sailors Return, East Chaldon

Was staying in the village and have to say that the staff were all very friendly. Although I prefer to comment on the drinking aspect of pubs I have to say what a pleasant change it made to have decent individual cooking - the gravy accompanying the 'Game Parcel' was superb. Sweet Garlic and Nigella seed according to the chef on one of his sorties to mingle with the punters

2 Jul 2011 22:19

The Scott Arms, Kingston

Surprised this hasn't got a better rating as the beer isn't bad and as previously noted the garden has a great view - only stopped for a quick pint and a starter and it is pricey mind you

2 Jul 2011 22:13

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers

This is a smashing place for a pasty and a pint or two - take that short detour off the SW Coastal Path

2 Jul 2011 22:10

The Pear Tree Inn, Hook Norton

Popped in here after a spot of walking and thought the pub was pretty decent to be honest. The beers were in fine fettle and there's a pleasing selection of crisps. A good pub!

The Museum Tavern, Bloomsbury

visited early doors on a Sunday and was hugely impressed with the range and quality of beer available - A couple from Otter, Sharp's Doom, Adnams and a spot of Landlord - delightful liquid lunch

Toronto Lodge Inn, Bishop Aukland

All a bit too weird and strangely expensive - think there's different prices for locals (all seven of them)

25 Apr 2009 00:51

The Mardale Inn, Bampton

Excellent selection of local beers, notably some ideal post walk offerings from the Keswick Brewery. Really quite good food and friendly staff but could maybe do with more comfortable seating - sorry being very picky there

25 Apr 2009 00:49

The Langdon Beck Hotel, Forest-in-Teesdale

The Jarrow Brewery Rivet Catcher is tremendous & a lovely part of the world. It's worth staying over too - even if the bath water is a little brown. Oh, and there's a Geology exhibition on. Don't think I've ever seen that in a boozer before

25 Apr 2009 00:45

The Cannon, Newport Pagnell

Adam may be a little idiosyncratic but this is a splendid little pub - easily the best in Newport

The Sun Inn, Macclesfield

This is boarded up!

This looked rather closed to me yesterday?
