The Red Lion, Bomere Heath

Visited a couple of times recently. Keeps a decent pint but a bit tired and dated, badly in need of refurbishing to bring in line with other Joules pubs.

Bar is a bit rough with a lot of loud and unnecessary bad language including, surprisingly, from the bar staff. Also worrying to see young children wandering around the pub quite late in the evening.

Could be better.

The Romping Cat, Bomere Heath

Now sadly closed and by all accounts unlikely to reopen.
It should have been left as it was.....an unpretentious country pub with a live in landlord.

The Royal Oak, Newport

Just spent a week in Newport and went to the Oak most evenings.
A really nice old fashioned village pub with friendly locals, a good pint and cracking food................just make sure you are hungry before ordering

White Lion, Whittington

Decent pint of Spitfire and Bombardier. Good for food with a menu that tries to be a bit different.
Young staff but very friendly and efficient.

The Monkmoor Hotel, Shrewsbury

I've heard that it is shut and hopefully this is true. The tatoos, piercings and foul language was apalling.........and that was just the women!!

The Romping Cat, Bomere Heath

My local and I love it. No music, no games machines and no kids.....perfect
A traditional country pub which are sadly becoming rarer with very well kept pint with rotating guest beers, plus lagers and cider.
