The Tram Depot, Cambridge

Disagree with the below - had a well kept pint of a beer I hadn't heard of - a good sign in my view

The Lansdown Arms, Lewes

Good pint of beer, friendly and welcoming (even for away supporters!!) Cracking little pub

The Railway, Finsbury Park

Looked horrible from the outside but actually worth a visit. Not if you're after real ales but a friendly Irish pub, quite handy for the station if you have time to kill.

The Victoria Hotel, Durham

Faultless. Stayed there for a night recently, from the beer to the breakfast couldn't complain at anything.

The Castle, Angel, Islington

"anonymous" says it was the only pub that wasn't rammed. Having visited this pub I can see why. No real ales on, though maybe sometimes there are. Paid 8.25 for 2 pints of lager and a packet of crisps (sorry, accidental reference to that rubbish "comedy"). The pints weren't even full, the barmaid took 10 minutes to work out how to use the till..... Can you tell I wasn't impressed???

The Essex Serpent, Covent Garden

Good little pub, if beer choice a bit limited. Nice restaurant upstairs and good little cellar bar downstairs too.

Old Horse, Leicester

If it is Whippet that they use I quite like it! Personally a fan of Everards so thought the place was OK

The Woodman Inn, Durham

Agree with everyone below. Excellent pub, friendly, good atmosphere, great beer...

Number 22 Alehouse and Canteen, Darlington

FANTASTIC pub. Not sure about the whole "watch" thing though - what are you on about??!! Comfortable, great beer, great food, what more do you want...

Hogans, Darlington

Well the cheapest pub in the land. Not a lot else to say.... Although it's the only place I've ever been locked in by the police against my will (Hartlepool fans outside)

The Quaker Coffee House, Darlington

Fantastic pub. What more is there to say. Small and tucked away, you have to know it's there, but well worth finding. Good atmosphere and superb beer, always different every time you go.

The Live and Let Live, Cambridge

Excellent beer, seriously EXCELLENT beer. Bit quirky I guess and seems to attract some odd people but this is Cambridge... Best pint around though.

The Blonde Beer Cafe, Winchester

Does it claim to be a Belgian beer bar? Only Hoegaarden on tap and Leffe in bottles - that was it!

The Dacre Arms, Lee

Looks hideous from the outside but don't let that put you off. Seriously. Well worth going inside, very friendly, good beer, comfortable local. Real village sort of feel to it.

The Crown, Blackheath

Nice large pub, family friendly (which puts me off). You may think you're in Thailand or somewhere because they think it's normal to serve 6 meals to a group all at different times.

The Rosemary Branch, Islington

I agree more with OCW - I did quite like this pub. Kind of old fashioned (which I quite like) but good service (yes really!) and good beer. Doesn't feel like a London pub but that's no bad thing I guess

The Ship and Shovell, Charing Cross

Personal favourite of mine, always seem to end up there if in the area... Can be a bit cramped (they don't seem to open the left hand half often enough?) but full of character. Great beer (can't go too far wrong with Badger)

Three Compasses, Hornsey

Disagree about the friendliness of this place. They have always seemed friendly to me. This pub pretty much get everything else right too - good, and imaginative food, excellent beer, always changing. Pool and Sky Sports out the back, which you can avoid if you wish by sitting in the other section. Something for everyone.

The Maid of Muswell, Muswell Hill

Decent beer but you pay for it... Pretty much sums it up. Real ales in decent nick plus some good German and Belgian beers available, on tap too. Good food as well.
