The Tottenham, Soho

Visited this 'pub' on Saturday evening with a group of friends. 'Pub' in inverted commas as half the beers weren't on. Seems half the staff were either drugged or just graduated with a 1st class degree from the University of Downright Rude. Hold onto your drink at all times here, as they will clear it away when you are not looking and then deny it. Should rename this place The Fleece, because that's what you get here.

The Woolpack, Chelmsford

Proper pub - good beer - very knowledgeable bar stuff. Nice place.

O'Connors, Chelmsford

Never worked out why this place is so popular when there are much better places within 5 mins walk. Must be something to do with "atmosphere" (for which read too noisy and nowhere to sit).

The Railway Tavern, Chelmsford

Shalford Mild - Very Nice. Lady behind bar - Very Nice. Please get a proper oche and chalk board for the darts though.

The Marsham Arms, Chelmsford

RIP MARSHAM ARMS. Gone to make way for another Tesco and yet more flats, neither of which Chelmsford needs.

The Orange Tree, Chelmsford

Proper old pub, with good beer and service - friendly locals too. You never know it might catch on! Popped in last Saturday lunchtime with an old mate of mine for a pint or two and a game of darts: left three hours later, otherwise we might have been there all evening. Good Burntwood bitter and a very nice Mild, according to my mate - two pints for just a fiver (cheap crisps too). Well done. Will be back as soon as my other half and 3-y-o let me.

The City Retreat, Holborn

Good pub, not the cheapest tho', but well worth a visit for decent service, beer and atmosphere. Not too many suits, despite its location and has a dartboard!
