The Raven, Stamford Brook

It's crap. Surly Aussie bar staff that resent breaking off their conversation to serve you. As soon as last orders are called they noisily start stacking chairs on the tables, sofas that are badly torn, dirty windows.

Ye Grapes, Mayfair

Great location, but it is a dump

The Lamb Inn, Iron Acton

It's obviously very popular, I expect you can hardly get in through the doors judging by the many people who visit it and then post a review.

The Leicester Arms, Piccadilly Circus

Its now opened after the refurb and apart from the fact it looks cleaner, it is the same. Friendly enough staff and a decent pint of Pride.

Casa, Chiswick

Goodness is now closed.

Horatio's Bar, Brighton Pier

Good place to watch Hen Parties getting lagered up before they hit the town. I really wanted to hate this place, but hey, its a bar on a pier and a good place to sit in the sun not doing very much.

The Black Lion, Hammersmith

Very pleasant place to have a pit stop while walking along the river. They are pushing the food quite heavily which looked good although I didn't try it. It doesn't get as crowded as the nearby pubs.

Birdcage, Chiswick

A pub with history? It was run down for years and them became a Slug and Lettuce!!

The George, Hammersmith

I really didn't think that the George could be unimproved upon. How wrong I was, It's now opened as Belushis.

Rutland Arms, Hammersmith

The Rutland - great location but it has always been a poor pub.

The Devonshire Arms, Piccadilly

Ideally located opposite the peerless Maharajah Tandoori, it is currently being renovated - it looks like one of those 5 day tart up affairs.

Casa, Chiswick

Casa has been closed for over three years. It's currently Goodness, a bar and restaurant. It's owner managed and unlike its previous incarnations it is run by somebody who cares about the business.

Give it a try.

The Ruby Grand, Hammersmith

My mistake. It is "Ruby Grand" and is "designed to bring a touch of elegance to the heart of Hammersmith. Featuring a morning room, relaxing lounge bar and conservatory restaurant, there is a space for every season and every need."

Their words, not mine

The Ruby Grand, Hammersmith

Now refurbished and renamed as "Grande Ruby" or somesuch. I didn't go in but it looks more like a restaurant.

30 Jul 2007 11:03

Birdcage, Chiswick

No music, no TV and all the food is freshly cooked. I like this place.

27 Jul 2007 16:26

The Devonshire Arms, Chiswick

Its rumoured that Gordon Ramsey is taking this place over, which could account for the lack of interest from the current management.

The Leicester Arms, Piccadilly Circus

Currently closed for a refurbishment
