It's a local pub for local people, if you know what I mean. Looks like an ordinary terrace from the outside, once you get in it looks just like a gutted out ordinary terrace with a bar in the front parlour. Not to everybodys taste, but have to admit I like it, despite the odd looks from the "regulars". Staff friendly, beer good, bogs clean. Nuff said.

Special offers if you are a student, otherwise it is full price. Very student oriented, can't complain, education is a big part of city life and has to be catered for, and non students are just as welcome by the laid back and competent staff. Nice starting off venue for an evening out.

Used to be my local when I was younger, I have just moved back into the area and have been in a couple of times and it still has a good atmosphere and friemdly staff, nice to see a proper local still up and running.Oh yeah, good beer too!!

Alright but nothing special. Can't say I have had a duff pint, and the food is typical unfu**upable wetherspoons fare. The tables only seem to get cleared when they bring the next victims food. Not a pub to go for a drink, OK for a quick cheap feed though.

Nice. Great Guiness and good range of Irish Whiskey.
Last time I went was on a Sunday evening, a bunch of local folk musicians were playing with various degrees of success and there was a nice atmosphere. Atmosphere slightly marred when a woman thrust a bucket in our faces and asked us for money for the music, which was not to out taste and we would not knowingly have come in had we known that they were playing!! She did not seem to understand sorry, we don't wish to pay for something we don't want, and would not go away until one of us (not me)put a couple of pounds in her bucket.
Every other visit has been great though, honest, just avoid Sunday evenings if you hear the sound of stranguated feline coming from within.

Beautiful!! The only pub I know with the guts to sell Theobolds Cider 8% by the pint and trust the punter to handle it!
Great range of ales, good live music, great bar staff, even when full of sweaty folk a great safe atmosphere, I have only been a few times but each time i felt right at home(The pub is built in an old catle shed, perhaps that's Why!!)

The Old Buttermarket, Canterbury
It used to be called The Olive Branch in my not so distant and was a great pub, especially on a summers evening. I last went in about a year ago,I found the staff unenthusiastic, the beer shite and the atmosphere non-.existant. I felt that I was getting in the way of the bar staffs social life by asking for service, they only seem interested (like many pubs in the city) in tourists and the food trade. I am very saddened to see what it has become.

A real pub with a real atmosphere, nothing fancy, just a good old fashioned pub with good beer and a friendly service. Love it.

Recently decided to get rid of Directors Bitter and replaced it with Marsdens, has lost them a few customers but they still have one of the best pints of Spitfire in the area, even if the atmosphere is crap unless you are in a large group. Good cheap and reliable grub, especialy Thurs. evening when you get a curry and pint for about four quid.

Lovely pub, great atmosphere, mixed agegroup, never seen any trouble even when crowded to busting point, great range of beers, largers and spirits (probably soft drinks too!!)

Used to combine a good local with the local barracks personel blending in well. Have not been in for a while as I am reliably informed the new managers allow drunken idiots to get away with anything, including standing at the bar pi&&ed and naked on a sunday lunch time with kids around. I shan't be going back

Westgate Inn, Canterbury
Now has blanket no-smoking policy, haven't been in in a long while, might give it another go as although I do smoke I prefer to eat in a smoke free area
