The Brief, Croydon

Great Pub - if you enjoy rude and aggressive bar staff. Was in their last night with friends one of whom was slightly tipsy. Kicked us all out in the most obnoxious way although there was no bad behaviour on our part. No wonder the place is empty most of the time. AVOID.

Going to this pub more and more. The garden has been done up to provide facilities for smokers. Good pint of Guiness. Food is Thai and excellent. Locals are friendly. Extensive sports coverage on 4 sreens. Staff are polite friendly and efficient. A cracking boozer which I would have no hestitation in recommending.

The White Bear, Kennington

Sports coverage is good. Guiness is fine at 3 a pint. "Mad Maurice" the devoted Leeds Utd fan is a wit behind the bar, as is the Antipodean with the dead pan manner and post-ironic sense of humour.

Various in-house facilities.

A good place to escape the chattering classes of south London.

The Dog House, Kennington

Good beer when you can get it. Some of the staff, including a dude called Fernando, seem more interested in posing than serving customers.Leffe is good if you can persuade them to give you a pint.
With this level of disinterest would not try the food.
Seem a decent sort of bunch that go in there.
Recommended if you dont mind waiting.

Great Guiness, friendly bar staff (especially the lovely Katrina). Colm the gun`nor is a real Irish character (watch out for the bailing twine he uses instead of a belt). Food is Thai (delicious). All sporting events covered. All in all what a pub should be. Highly recommended.

The Railway, Putney

I use the Railway onc-twice a week after work. While I agree with some of the comments the fact that drinks are half the price of other pubs in Putney is a big plus. We will all get old one day so bear that in mind you young-uns. A good place for a few cheap drinks but not the place to take anybody you want to impress.

Bread and Roses, Clapham

Had been planning to visit for a while so visited yesterday with two frinds from Germany. For a "real ale" pub there was very little real ale, unless you consider San Miguel real ale. For a workers pub there were very few workers, 100% white middle class student types. Service at the bar was dire, the two bar staff were utterly incompetent. If you like alco-pops, bad service and to be surrounded by chattering up and coming yuppies, this is the pub for you. Otherwise avoid.
