The Marquis Of Granby, Sompting

Had a day off work today, so wanted to take my Wife, 4 year old daughter and new born son out for lunch.

Was looking online through LOADS of different FAMILY FRIENDLY pubs, meanign I could have a real ale and they could have some grub too. I decided to keep it local and pop into The Marquis of Granby in Sompting.

To be honest, I hadnt set any expectations, but I was very impressed.

I popped in to ask if ok for children to be in the food section, the gentleman (presume the landlord) was very welcoming and said of course they are. So went and got the family.

The last place we went to totalled 27 for a cheese sandwich, suasage and chips x 2 and drinks of 1pt harveys, tap water and diet coke. The Kings Head in bramber, that was shocking.

Today we selected a Ham Sandwich for my daughter, My wife chose Jacket Potato with Cheese/Beans and I had 8oz sirloin with chips, onion rings, mushroom, tomatoes. All came with salad. With 1 pt Youngs, tap water and a diet coke. 22 and I got change!!!

Food was absolutely top notch, definately going back. Service 1st class, the chap popped over and made sure food was ok and was, as I said, extremely welcoming.

We will be taking the in-laws for a meal, very soon. Recommended.

The Dyke Tavern, Brighton

Pay for parking!!! No thanks!!!

On the occassions I visited, the food was meagre, poor quality and tasteless.

The Kings Head, Upper Beeding

Ate there for lunch today. Had run out of all pies except fish. Had cumberland sausages and chips, I thought it was quite costly, 25 for 2 plates of ok/good food, a cheese sandwich, a pint and apple drink.

Local Harveys was 3.10 a pint!!!! Did this come via mainland europe????

Would go back though, Kids play area needs severe attention.

The West Quay, Brighton

I went today with my wife, I had the gourmet burger and beer and she had a jacket potato.

Both were excellent value for money and tasted lovely, great atmosphere and very clean. Had the Ruddles as came with the burger and that was a good pint.

Recommended.

The Lazy Toad, Shoreham by Sea

Another visit to this fine establishment on sunday, another huge success. 4 lager drinkers in my group tried Doombar!!! Their second pint was another Doombar, well for 3 of them.

YOU HAVE TO TRY THIS PLACE OUT!!!

The Lazy Toad, Shoreham by Sea

A fantastic small pub, hidden away so you must look out for it. Barmaid was extremely welcoming and friendly. Best pub in Shoreham, will be introducing a number of people to this place.

Quality and selection of Ale on offer is second to none. Last time I visited, they had Doom Bar on sale, I had been on at the father-in-law and the Lazy Toad done this pint justice.

Keep up the great work.
