Pub was re-opened in November 2013 by a group of locals. Food is good and beer is kept well. Adnams and Colchester the most frequent but sometimes Mighty Oak and Crouch Vale appear alongside too.

The Wheatsheaf Inn, Tattingstone
Recently re-opened pub, currently still being refurbished. The new owners are CAMRA members who know their beer and were very welcoming. We were offered samples without asking and all were in good condition (Humpty Dumpty, Green Jack, Donnington and Adnams).

I visited this pub on Saturday afternoon for the first time in 4-5 years. Knowing that the landlord had died and that it since closed and changed hands I was delighted to find it much the same as I remember it. The beer selection was excellent, with mainly local breweries represented (Mighty Oak, Crouch Vale and Red Fox). I had a Brewers Gold which was very good. The new landlord and staff were friendly and interested in what we thought.

The Barton Inn, Barton St David
A great place. Visited last Sunday. Food choice was limited to pizzas and baguettes, but there were good. Two real ales on gravity behind the bar. I had a Plain Ales Arty Farty which was nice. Very cosy pub, with real fire, and a friendly welcome. I would have liked to have stayed all afternoon.

The Old Cross Tavern, Hertford
A superb pub with an outside courtyard area. The beer selection included a special house-brew called Eldorado, an elder flower flavoured pale ale at 3.6% which was absolutely delicious (previous reviewer 'dyyony' must have been unlucky). I also noticed a Mighty Oak and Green Jack beer. Locally-made pork pies, scotch eggs and pork scratchings were all very good too. Very friendly landlord. I just wish I lived nearer to it.

Lovely pub. Now under new management. Adnams Sothwold bitter and two guests from a local micro.
