Molly K's, Chingford

Feels a bit like a hotel with it's small bar area and restaurant style seating, and strange layout. No real ales, so only catering for diners, and lager drinkers.

They also need to sort out the music. The last two times we were here, they had Tina Turner blaring out the speakers. This appeared to be the only CD they had. Not the sort of place to go for a quiet drink.

The Comedy, Piccadilly

Feels a bit like a hotel bar, but does sell a number of real ales on draft. Great place to go if looking for a quiet drink, as can usually get a seat/table.

The Intrepid Fox, St Giles

Very poor range of lagers (and ale). The kind you find in your local bowling alley bar, or dodgy pub. Obviously catering for the lowest common denominator-type drinker! Also, has aggressive rude doorman!

Great music though, so if you just want to drink a pint of 'lager' and listen to music (assuming the doorman let you in) then great. If you want to listen to great music and have a proper lager or some real ale, go to Camden.

The Captains Cabin, Piccadilly

Great 'boozer' in central London. Hidden from the main street, so doesn't get all the tourists. Gets very busy, but the service is exceptional. Even when packed, you still get served within 5 mins. Something a lot of pubs can learn from!

Has a range of real ales including a new guest ale every few days, and the usual lagers.

The Old White Lion, East Finchley

Great pub for real ales. Has around 5 on tap, which are changed regularly. Also, has Brooklyn lager, Fruhli, and some other international lagers on tap. And a large range of lagers. Pub is large and spacious, and has a massive beer garden.

Only issue is the slow service. Even, when it is quiet and there are only a few people waiting, it still takes 5 to 10 mins to get served!!! On a busy night 20 mins is pretty normal! It's not the lack of staff. The staff are just so slow!

The Cove, Covent Garden

Yet another pub bites the dust! Closed down as part of 'gentrifiication' of Covent Garden. Premises is to become an upmarket restaurant.

Was one of the better pubs in Covent Garden. Like a traditional pub, and never got too full of tourists. Was pricey though. 5 a pint. Served Proper Job, and Skinners ales, which seem hard to find in London.

The Oxford Arms, Camden

Rude obnoxious doorman. Best thing that could happen to this pub is that it goes out of business and becomes a Starbucks! People who treat their customers like this should not be allowed to run pubs. Please avoid, and hope they go out of business.
