The Swan, Walton on Thames

This lovely riverside pub has been ruined. You may make your money in the summer with the river walkers but your core trade will not be visiting in the winter. Roll on November when you go into liquidation.

The Woodstock Arms, Woodstock

Nice pub in a lovely village close to Blenheim Palace. The ale was good and according to the land lady they have won awards for there food. I didn't try any but will return to do so.

17 Apr 2005 09:38

The Trout Inn, Wolvercote

After visiting I have to agree with the last comment I have visited this establishment a couple of year too late. The setting is perfect by the river a postcard setting. But the pub is sadley let down by the limited menu, I was so looking forward to some nice fish (seeing as the pub is called the Trout)but all they had on the menu was Scampi and fish and chips.
The beer was acceptable, I will visit again not for the food but the postcard setting. Sort your menu out.

17 Apr 2005 09:30

17 Apr 2005 08:57

The Red Lion, Yarnton

I like this pub and has become my local while working in the area. It has four quality real ales on all the time and the homemade food is very nice. They have a pool table big plasma screen which they show all the big football matches. There is a separate non smoking family area which they have various games to keep the kids busy. There is also a beer garden with a kids climbing frame. Worth a vist if in the area.

17 Apr 2005 08:49

The Turnpike, Kidlington

Old pub on the woodstock Road. Two real ales on Adnams Bitter and Tetleys. The pub appears to be be more geared up for food then a drinkers establishment, but still quite pleasent. I tried the food and it was quite nice. They have a beer garden behind which would be nice on a summers evening.

17 Apr 2005 08:37

The Royal Sun, Begbroke

Nice old beamed pub with two real ales on. I didn't try the food but the menu looked good.

13 Apr 2005 13:39

Old Plough, Stoke D'Abernon

This is a lovely looking pub inside and out. It has a nice beer garden with a bouncy castle for the kids, dogs on leads are welcome. The beer was in very good condition and they have two standard ales plus two guest beers at the time of visiting. The food was average for pub grub. My only reservation is the service behind the bar, one perticular barman was not very helpfull at all. I know the pub was busy but some manners go a long way.

3 Apr 2005 20:48

The Anglers, Walton on Thames

It has changed hands in the last couple of weeks, they have a temporary manager in charge at the momemt. They do a good Quiz on a Wednesday.

This pub is like someones living room but the beer was ok, and they show sport on a plasma screen.

17 Feb 2005 15:02

The Eel Pie, Twickenham

Lovely old english pub banging out Land of Hope and Glory before going to the Rugby. My only reservation is that 3.00 for a pint of bitter is on the pricey side, or is the price hiked up when the rugby is on.

17 Feb 2005 15:00

The Barmy Arms, Twickenham

Nice pub by the thames opposite Eel Pie Island. Good for a couple of pints before the rugby.

17 Feb 2005 14:55

absolutly packed waited 10 mins to get served and left.

30 Jan 2005 09:17

Very smokey pub attractive from the outside. Very busy and expensive probably due to it's close proximity to Trafalger Square. Had a pint of London Pride it was ok.

30 Jan 2005 09:14

The Cocoanut, Kingston Upon Thames

went in there bout 6 monthes ago they had no real ale. Sacralige for a fullers pub. Rubbish.

23 Dec 2004 22:02

The Bear, Esher

Just bought a copy of the good beer guide 2005 and this pub is in it. How ?? The beer wasn't that good and at the prices it charges you are better of going else where.

14 Oct 2004 22:07

The Badgers Rest, Walton on Thames

Not a pub at all but a restaurant over priced at that. Food was fine but very small portions. The beer was not all that and over-priced. There was a wedding reception going on in a private room by the front door and the language coming out of there was to say the least very colourfull. NICE

28 Jun 2004 22:30

The Royal Oak, West Molesey

Locals pub but freindly enough, compared to the Hotham and Cannon (avoid at all costs). Couple of real ales which were ok, serve mild and a few lagers.

28 Jun 2004 22:21

The Cardinal Wolsey, Hampton Court

Went there in a lunch time it was dead the beer was ok. I think they get most of there trade in the evenings as there are a lot of posters promoting live music.

28 Jun 2004 16:17

9 Jun 2004 14:32

The Bear Hotel, Walton on Thames

Revisited at lunch time, same beer as before but they have done the garden out into a patio with a small kids paly area at the end. But sadly last night some one nicked half of the kids play stuff.

8 Jun 2004 15:41

The Regent, Walton on Thames

Went in at lunch time there was no food, apparently the kitchien was too hot for the chef to work in. Downgraded to a 4

8 Jun 2004 15:03

The Swan, Walton on Thames

Seen all the comments and have to agree with them. The menu is very limited, I asked for a chicken and mayo sandwich. The reply from the barman sorry thats not on the menu. How difficult is it to make that. Ordered chips and dips and the mayo was either custurd or was off. The price of a pint of Stella is 3.09 what a rip off. The only good thing about this pub is the location by the river.
Will not be going back.

8 Jun 2004 13:54

Old Crown, Weybridge

I agree with the last comment it is a very nice pub and the real ale was good. But 2.70 for a pint of bitter is a bit over the top.

29 Apr 2004 14:33

The Dukes Head, Walton on Thames

Worst pub in Walton just shades it from Impressions. No ale and the Guiness was warm. Not the most friendly punters in the world.

5 Mar 2004 19:02

The Square and Compass, Worth Matravers

This is one of the nicest pubs I have ever visited. Real ale from the cask a roaring log fire and a very friendly family run pub. Next time I am in the area I must visit again.

19 Feb 2004 19:27

The Regent, Walton on Thames

Cheap and cheerfull but devoid of all atmosphere. It reminds me of a big unfriendly city pub. But of the good side they do have a good selection of ales, I counted 12 tried 3 and have no complaints.

19 Feb 2004 14:30

The Bear Hotel, Walton on Thames

Nice local pub just off the high street. Only one real ale London Pride which was nice. They do good food and cheaper smaller portions for pensioners at lunch time.
