The William Henry, Weymouth

Would come back for drinks only as food not at all good. Friendly atmos and good service behind the bar.

The Duke of Cornwall, Weymouth

Visiting Weymouth this weekend and was rushing around to find a decent pub with BT Sports so I could watch a particular footie match. A couple we'd been in the day before were just OK. Thankfully we found this place. Really nice locals, and bar staff, and good ale and cider range. Will be back.

The Market House, Weymouth

Not a bad place, but the smokers by door made me feel a bit sick, as the smoke came in this quite small pub!! Could only stay for one drink, which was a shame as the cider range is fantastic!!

Swan Inn, Weymouth

Not a bad place, but definitely looks like an airport lounge. Tables packed too close together. Beer and cider was very good. Surprisingly dearer than Greater London. Loos smelly. Was busy, but service good.

Shropshire Arms, Chester

Welcomed by friendly staff, a cute Dachshund/Jack Russell cross, and the landlord trying to assemble a toilet seat at the bar(!) Very quiet when we went there at 1pm on a Tuesday. 3 ales on - Cheshire Cat was cracking! Really nice pub. 7/10.

The Fly in the Loaf, Liverpool

Nice place. The lovely barmaid took a pub call whilst we decided on our drinks but asked first if that was OK, and apologised for the delay in coming back to serve us. She told us to take a seat whilst the beer settled and she would bring our drinks over.

A lovely pub with great service, but slightly expensive.

The Philharmonic, Liverpool

Just walked out because the one member of staff behind the bar was more interested in chatting to her mates than serving. She looked at us twice but carried on chatting knowing she was the only person behind the bar!!

Another member of staff came behind the bar, also just looked at us and then disappeared! There were also four members of staff preparing casks for their beer festival. Not once did anyone say they would be with us in a minute.

This place was recommended by a local chap, we are utterly disappointed and will not come here again.

Only plus side the decor is great.

O'Neill's, Wallington

If you're a local at The Melbourne, which we weren't, then you'll be served before everyone else regardless of the order you were at the bar, Walked out and won't be back!!

0/10.

The Bricklayers Arms, Beckenham

If you're a local, which we weren't, then you'll be served before everyone else regardless of the order you were at the bar, Won't be back!! Not sure what the giant Spiderman on the wall was about either...

0/10 as there are no minus figure options.

The Blackbird, Earls Court

Lovely staff, who know how to pour a pint (unlike The Courtfield). 8.20 for a pint of Aspalls and a pint of Pride! The prices reminded us that we were in the Kensington area, as the tattiness of Earls Court did make us forget. 6/10 as very pricey.

The Courtfield, Earls Court

8.15 for a pint of Magners and a pint of Carling!! Toilets need tidying up. Server poured level to the word 'pint' on a non-lined class but claimed that was correct when questioned saying they often get asked. They often get asked because this is wrong!! Every glass has 'pint' printed on it. If it were a lined glass there would be a line next to the word. Won't come here again!! Drinks nice though. 2/10!!

The Hope, Carshalton

Excellent pub, Excellent staff, Excellent ladies WC, Gents WC's OK, Excellent ale and cider range, Excellent clientele, Excellent oversized glasses, Excellent garden, Excellent beer festivals, Haven't tried the food but it looks excellent, The jalapeo pretzel pieces are super hot but excellent!!

This place, for me, is the best pub in Carshalton!! Will be back again and again - EXCELLENT!!

9/10 - dropped a point due to the Gents.

The Woodman, Carshalton

1st time here, Won't be back, which is a shame.

The bar staff are polite and the ale is good, however, we were told by the bar staff that he'll be with us in a minute to discover that he was serving a man, who I guess was a regular, before us when we were at the bar way before him.

We also heard the manager/owner shouting at one of her staff about how she shouldn't have gone out drinking. The door to the back was eventually shut so thankfully we couldn't hear anything. It was extremely unprofessional that it was being dealt with within clientele's earshot. We felt very uncomfortable.

We gave this place 4/10 based in beer quality alone.

The Hope nearby is the place to go.

The Peveril Of The Peak, Castlefield

Unfortunately we don't come to Manchester very often and tried four times in three years to come here!! We were finally successful!! Sadly it was either really busy or closed.

This is a really nice place. There are three rooms off the bar, with a pool table in one, and a football table in the main, and livelier room. The toilets are clean.

The bar man, who looks a bit like Napoleon Dynamite, was really friendly, and it was quiet upon arrival late this Sunday afternoon, but soon livened up.

4 ales on (a cracking pint Everards Tiger and Copperdragon, and (not tasted) Cumberland Ale and Deuchars IPA, sadly no real ciders.

For Manchester, it is on the dear side. A pint Copperdragon was 3.20 and a pint of Strongbow was 3.70, but it's worth it if it means keeping this great place open, we'll pop back for a couple again and again.

The Dartmouth Arms, Forest Hill

Previous reviews made this place sound promising so we thought we'd give it a try. However, when we arrived there was one person in front of us but no one serving, and it wasn't overly busy. More staff were needed. We waiting for about 5 minutes, which was far too long, and left. Very disappointed. We may try again if back in the area but for now A BIG FAT ZERO!!

17 Oct 2011 21:54

All Inn One, Forest Hill

First visited on a Monday eve. I must confess I thought this place would be a dodgy rip off of All Bar One, but it topped it big time. This is a great place! Loved the live folk music. Toilets are spotless. 4 ales and 5 ciders = happy days!! Will defo be back.

17 Oct 2011 20:52

The Capitol, Forest Hill

First visited on a Monday eve. Lovely interior though a little bit echoey due to previously being a cinema. Maybe a bit of music at a reasonable level would be nice. Drinks very good and reasonably priced - beer and cider fest on. Served in order of arriving at the bar and not need to ask for drinks to be topped up. Toilets OK. Had the three pie deal which OK but nothing spectacular.

Surprisingly very good for a Wetherspoons. Will definitely come again.

17 Oct 2011 19:49

The Harrow Inn, Warlingham

Nice pub in a lovely setting. Great outside seating area. Went on a very busy sunny Sunday afternoon but service was very good and everyone was served in the order they came to the bar. Didn't try the food but it seemed very popular. Three ales and usual ciders. Will come again.

16 Oct 2011 17:35

The Olde Smack Inn, Leigh On Sea

Quite dark inside but a nice Taylor and Walker pub, Usual beers and cider that were also very nice, Food looked good but didn't try. Would come again.

16 Oct 2011 16:06

The Crooked Billet, Leigh on Sea

Fittingly quaint for the area. Very busy on the sunny October Sunday that we visited but still wonderfully relaxing and served pretty quickly. Outside seating ample. Doom Bar and Aspalls very nice.

16 Oct 2011 13:16

The Sutton Arms, Southend on Sea

Wasn't too sure about this place from the outside but it is very nice. The decor is a little bit tired, the chairs need upholstering and there was a slight musty smell upon entering but the chap that served us was very nice as were the clientele, bar the arguing children that were not being told to behave themselves.

Only other gripe was that the barmaid that was asked to assist when the bar was busy refused as she was on her break then stood behind the bar watching as we were waiting to be served. I feel she should have come off her break briefly to help out rather than bellowing 'I'm on me break!' leaving one chap to serve around 10 people. She could have continued her break afterwards as it became quiet.

Good ale choice and a couple of draught ciders.

Would come again when next in Southend as pleasantly surprised 6/10.

15 Oct 2011 14:50

The Horseshoe, Warlingham

Lovely pub, Friendly staff, No unusual ales but a cracking pint of Harvey's and Strongbow on draught, Lovely beer garden out front.. Great atmos and well worth paying that extra 40p by moving on from The White Lion next door which is dull.

2 Oct 2011 15:30

The White Lion, Warlingham

Nice decor, Various ales, Strongbow and Magners Golden on draught, Two nice outdoor seating areas, larger one out back. However, pub lacked atmos and was a bit dull. OK if just passing through. The Horseshoe next door, though very slightly dearer is far better.

2 Oct 2011 15:18

The Tipperary, Fleet Street

'Ale' range - Guiness (yawn)... Cider range - Strongbow (double yawn). Price - expensive. 3 pints & 2 packs of pork scratchings 13.90!!

Go to Ye Olde Cheshire Cheese, across the road, instead. Much nicer and 3 pints in this Sam Smiths pub for 7.51. Just duck if you go to sit downstairs, as the ceilings are low!!

30 Aug 2011 17:04

The Criterion, Weston Super Mare

Friendly staff and locals, Ales (Cheddar Potholer) and cider (Thatcher's Gold) very nice, Caught up on a bit of history as they had found some old newspapers dating back to 1922!! All round a great little boozer.

27 Aug 2011 21:08

The Raglan Arms, Weston Super Mare

Closed - So went across the road to The Critorian which was very nice.

27 Aug 2011 21:01

Friendship Inn, Glossop

Great pub, beer, cider, atmos and pub cat (which makes a refreshing change to a pub dog) who decided to sleep by my rear end, I guess it was cosy and warm down there!! Does need updating and still has Xmas decs up in May!!

13 May 2011 17:39

The Star Inn, Glossop

Barmaid took too long to stop talking to the locals in this very clique-y and dull pub before serving us. Great ale range, but mediocre Stowford Press. Surprised to see Sambrooke's Wandle from our London neck of the woods up north, which was very nice. Sadly not top of the list of places to visit again.

13 May 2011 17:07

The Corner Cupboard, Glossop

Strong smell of disinfectant as you walk in, which is very off-putting. Lovely staff and nice Strongbow and guest (Bee Good) on draught plus the usual Carlsberg and bottles etc. Toilets smelly with one of the two loos having a door off it's hinges. Will not come here again and go to The Oakwood across the road instead.

13 May 2011 14:36

The Paramount, Manchester

By far the best Wetherspoons I have been to. It is one of the dearer ones but the food, drink, service and atmosphere make up for this. From London, but whenever in Manchester we always come here. All Wetherspoons should use this place as a guide to how to do it properly as there are far too many skanky ones around. Well done to all concerned.

13 May 2011 14:06

The Oakwood, Glossop

Came here on Friday 13th, Looks more like a restaurant than a pub, Friendly staff, only one ale on (Cumbria Way) and Stowford Press cider. Nice atoms, Toilets very clean. Overall a nice pub.

13 May 2011 13:50

The Coopers Tavern, Burton-Upon-Trent

Am in here right now!! Great ales, Great ciders, Great staff, Great locals, Great prices, Great pub dog!! Came up from Surrey to watch a footie match and now want to move into this pub!! The toilets and outside area need updating, but a defo 9/10.

7 May 2011 13:26

The Queens Head, Green Street Green

Went here today on a sunny afternoon, and still here now!

Great atmos, Cool music, Suitable for all ages, Great beer and cider, Reasonable prices (on average 3 per pint).

Will come again.

19 Mar 2011 18:49

The Blacksmiths Arms, Cudham

1st visit today: Lovely pub, with dated decor, in lovely surroundings. Staff, clientele and doggies very friendly. Massive beer garden. Rather pricey: pint of Strongbow & pint of Landlord, though excellent, was 7.30(!), but I wasn't surprised as there is a captive audience for this very rural pub. The food looked very good, but on this visit we didn't partake..

A great pub on a sunny day.

Please Note: If travelling by bus, tell the bus driver, when you board, where you're going and he'll stop outside as the pub is on a 'hail and ride' section of the route and there are no pavements or bus stops nearby, and the road is a little hairy.

19 Mar 2011 18:15

The Posada, Wolverhampton

Went to pub this evening for the first time. Great original tiled frontage, but let down by shabby interior, especially the skanky carpet, paint peeling off the walls, and the need for a more efficient glass washer. The staff were very friendly, and the beer and cider were very nice, butchoicelimited. Very disappointed and won't rush back in a hurry.

1 Nov 2010 20:05

The Gun Tavern, Croydon

An OK pub with very boring blue decor, in desperate need of a revamp.

Great TEA on draught, and good Strongbow. Bar maid very nice.

A word of warning though, THE TOILET'S ARE SKANKY!!! Cobwebs, with resident spider, in between the ancient gel freshener and the mirror by the sink, & in the corners of the toilet doors! Remnants of other females bodily functions in the toilet bowl! Someone's crisp packet on the floor of one of the loos & water on the floor of another! Flies will join you too. Probably attracted to the interesting stagnant aroma. A reliable source informed me that the Gents were just as bad. Not a place we will be returning to in a hurry. You can't charge 6.10 for two pints and then provide such insanitary conditions for paying customers!

Shame the bad outweighed the good.
