The Old Ale House, Truro

Even though it is now a Skinners Pub lost none of its charm since I last visited on a stag do. Only had 5 minutes but you can't visit Truro with out having a pint of something from Skinners.

The Barrels, Hereford

A must for any visit to Hereford and I wasn't disappointed. Others in group had been here before. As a lover of Wye valley beers a didn't know where to start. Wholesome Stout, Golden Ale, HPA, Bitter and Butty Bach all on offer. Enough said.

The Charlton Arms, Ludlow

Nice place and run by the same guys as the 'Church'. Ludlow, Gold and Stairway. Hobsons, Best and Wye Valley, Butty Bach on offer. Same good selection of whiskies as the Church with a very tempting lunchtime menu.

The Church Inn, Ludlow

This place is a little gem. Run by people who know how to run a pub. Staff knowledgable. 10 differant ales. At time of my visit; Wye Valley, HPA. Archers, Winter Warmer. Three tuns, Stout. Ludlow Gold and Boiling Well. Hobson, Town Crier and Mild. Salopian Darwins Origin and Milk Street, Winter Spice. The Boiling well and Salopian I drank we well kept and well served.

Away from ale. The Church is a good all rounder with draft Cider and Perry on offer as well a tempting selection of Whiskies. The wine and spirit selections were also plentiful. Lots of pictures of old Ludlow on walls and a beautiful dog shaped nut cracker on the bar. Also does 3x 1/3 pints for £3.30 if you can't make your mind up.

Cracking place. Full of life and very welcoming.

The Black Dog, Southam

Reopened a couple of days ago. Very nicely refurbishment. Still has dart boards, pool table added. Nice selection of wines and spirits. Strong ow as cider, Guinness and carling as well as 6 beer pumps although only 3 in use with Pedigree, banks bitter and mild on draft. This is a freehouse so I can't wait for it to establish its trade and hopefully get so interesting guest beers. Will keep you in4med.

The Stag's Head, Offchurch

Popped in for a quick one whilst on a walk. 2,Warwickshire beers on, Duck Pond and Darling Buds. As well as Church End Cuthberts which was a beautiful and very welcome pint. Menu looks excellent must bring my good lady. On side of its van it's refered to a eating pub of the year as well as having an Egon ronie plack on the front. Also great whiskey selection.

The Blue Lias, Stockton

Just got back from a lovely meal here. Beer wise not imaginative but still had adnams broadside, Wadsworth 6x, Abbott ale and hooky best. Food was super not large menu but food well presented my steak medium rare was perfectly cooked. My wife had a chili which she liked so much said 'was almost as good as mine' others in the group has chicken curry and gammon and said were excellent. We had a Chilean red merlot with our meals which was not expensive and a really good choice. This place is run by someone who cares.

Old Hall Farm, Ellesmere Port

A marstons pub and restaurant so you know what to expect. However this is not the hole story. The food is good, very good. The drinks on offer hobgoblin, Cumberland and a ringwood ale were well served and very nice. The red wine I had with my steak was recommended and very good. The best of all was the staff who were great. All indeviduals who were so full of life and character well put it this way if I owned any type of public facing business I would give them all jobs. Keep it up. :-)

The Jug and Jester, Leamington Spa

Since wetherspoons have taken over this has developed into an excellent place. Beer festival time no exception with a large and differing selection. Choose John martins pale for my beer. It is one of those Belgium beers that is very British and it is very well served.

Lounge, Leamington Spa

As you would always expect from everards high standards. Smartly dressed staff. Great wine and spirits selection. A pub full of eaters at 14.50 on a Monday and all pumps full of ales. Everards original, suncaser and tiger as well as castle rock elsie mo. lovely place.

Murphys, Leamington Spa

What you would expect from a proper Irish pub needless to say full a 14.00 on a Monday afternoon.

19 Mar 2012 14:38

The Voodoo Bar, Leamington Spa

A place I know well 15 years ago for having good pool tables and a free shot with every pint. First place I drank Guinness which they still serve. San Miguel, carlsberg, staropramen, Holstein and tuborg as well. Great looking not to expensive menu. Recommend the exmoor beef burger and goats cheese.

19 Mar 2012 14:14

Woodland Tavern, Leamington Spa

One of leamingtons excellent local pubs. Only 1 ale which is Brewed locally slaughter house saddleback bitter but 4 pumps and others often on I'm told. All the other drinks you would expect from a pub. Plenty to see inside from a good selection on brewerana to lot of photos of locals.

19 Mar 2012 13:45

The Star and Garter, Leamington Spa

A proper spit and sawdust pub. A green king pub so you know what your going to get drink wise. But still has the atmosphere of a really good local pub where all are welcome. Worth it's 7 out of 10 rating but would complan if it was 8.

19 Mar 2012 13:39

The Benjamin Satchwell, Leamington Spa

Not much to say that the fact it is a I'd wetherspoons place. Service poor, ale poor, good selection of bottles beers severed in a very hot glass with a crack in it. Staff lack direction and motivation. I could go on but for sake of boring you I will stop but needless to say leamington has plenty of better place to go!

19 Mar 2012 13:16

The White Horse, Leamington Spa

I've enjoyed my last few trips in here. In the past I have bought my wife here to eat. They have a great menu and good wine selection. Beers have a good choice as well. Sharps Doom Bar, purity UBU, Moor beer company somerton gold and copper dragon black gold. Also has 8 continental beers and a spirit collection that not many places could rival. If your every in leamington I recommend this place to everyone.
